Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]-Chapter 470: The One With No Side Shows
[KOSTA]
"Go to bed, young Daniel," the king added.
Danny just nodded in understanding. There was no point arguing with Tamiko. And so, Danny watched in defeat as the royals carried Tamiko to the palace, leaving Igor on the ground like he would wake up and find himself somewhere else.
It was almost a careless decision, and Danny wanted to protest until he saw Akila, Kosta’s friend, approaching once the royals had left.
Maybe the royals knew that he was there and that he wouldn’t let Kosta go. But still, wasn’t that an unhinged position to leave the Kawai Lycan Chief in?
Akila looked like he had been waiting and watching from a distance, and Danny respected that choice. This kind of shit was hard, and as time went by, they would eventually have to deal with it all.
But nothing would ever beat seeing pain on a best friend’s face. Danny had seen that one too many times, and now he wondered if the look on Akila’s face was what Tamiko always saw each time he went to help Danny.
"Akila..." Danny trailed off, like he wasn’t sure if he knew what he was to do in such a moment. Maybe he needed to stop thinking, but then he couldn’t exactly step aside without knowing that Igor would be fine.
"Go on, young master. We’ll take care of the Chief," Akila said. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Danny stared at him skeptically.
He wanted to protest, but then he had known enough about Kawai to understand that Akila would give up everything he owned and his life before he let anyone hurt Konstantin.
That was a reassuring fate, truly, but it was just nothing compared to the pain that was waiting for Igor once everything settled.
"I know it’s not my place to tell you this... but judging from the way Yilena talked about the ultimatum, you might need to go to Grealor and finish the job my brother can’t finish because of his current state.
"Tamiko can’t go, and I can’t leave my little brother. I would have come along with you. Truthfully. I would have gone and seen to it that they all paid for what they put Tamiko through.
"Years have passed, but I suppose forgiveness never really was my strong suit when it came to Tamiko’s pain. But this rage that Konstantin’s feeling, you could make use of it and end the Grealor part of the ultimatum’s revenge once and for all.
"Maybe that will give them both a chance to be together. They have suffered enough times," Danny sighed softly, hoping that at least this time, someone would be brave enough to close the Grealor Chapter for good.
Akila just nodded, understanding.
He had been thinking the same, because the ultimatum didn’t just affect Kosta and the prince; it affected the warriors too.
They felt the tensions, and they hated that the couple that was so much in love was being kept apart by a force they could not even dare to name out loud.
"Thank you, young master. And goodnight," Akila said gratefully.
Danny just patted the barbarian’s shoulder before he settled into the palace, too.
Gods, was this a long night for everyone?

Igor woke up at dawn, when the sun was peeking from the horizon.
He was no longer in the field where the king had left him.
Instead, he was on his bed in the barbarian chambers where he had been staying when he had moved out of his home and went to be with his barbarians. It was still a decent place, but this wasn’t how Kosta wanted to be back here.
Not when he still felt like shit and still could remember everything that had happened the previous night. His neck still hurt, but that was not even the worst of his issues right now.
It wasn’t even a priority for him to check on himself because all he wanted was Tamiko.
The way that Tamiko had been limp still haunted him, and the fact that the king saw it fair to leave him unconscious pissed him off.
But Igor knew better.
He would never be able to go back to Tamiko, not without completing at least one bit of the ultimatum that had been strung their way.
And so, he got up, hurriedly dressed like the world was disappearing, and he needed to catch up to it all without losing more than he had already lost.
There was no time for him to pity himself, let alone time for him to lean towards the pain that he had been enduring all this time.
"Tamiko..." was the first word the Lycan chief spoke as he settled to catch a breath.
He was still weak, hadn’t eaten anything last night, and had spent most of his energy trying to find out Tamiko’s cure after what the ultimatum had done for him. Not to mention the mad king settling him down like a rabid dog was still affecting him.
And just before he could make up his mind, the door creaked open, and through it came Akila, his best friend, and the warrior he trusted the most.
"The palace, Chief... he went in, and you didn’t follow," Akila said as he walked in silently, like he was worried about upsetting the Lycan Chief anymore.
The poor man had already suffered enough without even having to deal with the fact that life was shit for him already. This was not the right moment for him, but what Akila had heard was a good plan.
If they were going to be stressed the fuck out for the longest time, then they deserved to deal with that shit as soon as possible, didn’t they?
"Is he alright?" Igor asked carefully whether the barbarians wouldn’t have been allowed close to the prince. Besides, if there was something that needed to be done, Igor was the better first, especially if it involved saying Tamiko.
But still the Lycan chief dared to hope, so stupidly that he wondered if love and light were all that he could afford this time. Or if that too was a pipe dream that he would never be able to work a way around just yet.
It hurt to the core, and it made Igor feel like the world was closing in on him again.
That was a cruel fate if he was being honest, but was it time for him to keep wallowing?
"We do not know yet, Chief... will you follow him?" Akila asked.
He knew this was the hardest thing that Igor Konstantin had ever had to deal with, and he understood him.
The barbarians outside understood Igor; either way, they knew how hard this was and could be, and frankly, they all hoped that it would get easier for the Chief they had.
"I can’t... not yet. If I follow too soon, I might lose him," Igor forced out, the memories of the previous night flooding his mind like he was just another poor thing that needed to be saved.
He hated what had become of him, he hated how life had fucked hunger in the worst of ways, and he hated that in the middle of the chaos, he didn’t even have someone that he would ever be able to explain shit to so that he could get Tamiko back.
"But... he is alive..."
"Him being alive is not enough, Akila."
