"So, again, what is this about?" My mother said while sipping her coffee.

"Yeah, so, I need you to teach me more cultivation stuff and I need you to teach my girlfriends cultivation stuff. At least the ones who can do it. And I need it fast. The European Vampire Association and all the other branches as well are going to be on my ass I don’t know when," I said.

"I see. That’s certainly a problem. I can help you all learn to cultivate, but I can’t fight your battles for you. I mean, I literally can’t. If I did, I would disappear," she said.

"I know. I don’t need you to do that. I just need the training," I said.

"That I can and will do," she said. "When?"

"As soon as we’re done eating," I said.

"I was just going to drink this coffee," she said. "I don’t need food to sustain my existence. Technically, you don’t either. Just blood. But you don’t drink enough of it. That’s why you get hungry still."

"Huh. I did not realize that," I said as I shoved a piece of food in my mouth. "Well, I’ll be done in a few minutes and then we can go train at the crumbling dragon sect complex."

A piece of tile fell off a roof and smashed on the ground. Yeah this place had seen better days.

"So what’s next?" I said.

"Vi Projection Stage. This is where you learn about Vi blasts and strikes. The specific techniques you’ll be learning are the Vi blast, force palm, and energy wave," she said.

"Sounds cool," I said.

"So, we’re going to start with extending Vi through your palm. I want you to visualize the Vi flowing up to the skin barrier and then pushing through it. You’re just going to be radiating Vi out of your palm at first, so don’t worry about losing it. That’s what we’re trying to do," she said.

"Ok," I said.

I did as she said. I visualized and projected Vi through my palm. I could feel the energy radiating out of my body. It was a kind of pressure. It took about 20 minutes, but she stopped me at that point.

"Now that you’ve got that down, we will move on to forming a sphere of Vi 1 cm from your palm. Try to maintain the sphere as long as you can and then when it dissipates, try again. I want you to start with a sphere the size of a golf ball and go up from there," she said.

I got down into a lower stance. I know she meant for me to create the sphere at the end of one hand, but I was going to cheat and make it easier for myself by using two hands.

I put my hands facing each other in front of me and focused on shooting and compressing Vi in between my palms.

"If you do it that way, it’ll be harder to do it with one hand, because you’ll be used to the reverse pressure," she said.

"Hang on, mom! Just let me do it my way. It’ll work!" I said.

I continued shooting Vi in between my hands to create a sphere. A bright white light began building between my palms until I had a golf ball sized sphere. It didn’t even take a minute.

I tried to do it one handed by just taking away my left hand, but the sphere dissipated.

"I told you," she said.

"Mom! Let me do it! Gosh! Geez!" I said.

I held my hand palm up in front of me and tried to do what I did before, but I realized I had to create the reverse pressure with the one hand. Now, how do you create reverse pressure when your palm can only face one direction?

I’ll tell you how. You don’t shoot a massive amount of Vi directly out of your palm in one direction. You shoot individual Vi particles towards a single point above your palm.

By this I mean, the outer parts of your palm are shooting Vi particles diagonally towards the center of your palm, and then the particles shoot out slightly more vertical or horizontal depending on the way you hold your palm when you get closer to the center.

Like I said, you shoot the Vi particles at a single center point. When you do that, what happens is the Vi particles start attracting each other and rotating around. They start pulling each other as they rotate and you get a sphere.

Then comes the easy part. You just make it bigger. I kept going bigger until I got a fist sized ball of Vi. Then I went bigger and bigger, until my mom finally stopped me and said, "Steven, that’s enough. We can move on to the next part."

"My name’s not Steven!" I said. "And it’s enough when I say it’s enough."

I made the sphere slightly larger and said, "Ok, that’s enough." And I let the Vi dissipate. "Why would you call me Steven?"

"I was trying to make you lose your concentration," she said.

"Oh. Well, it didn’t work," I said.

"Clearly," she said. "Now I want you to shoot the Vi sphere out until it hits something. We should only do 5 meters to start."

"Let’s go over to a wall," I said. "All this is going to get torn down anyway."

We walked over to a wall and I made a Vi sphere again. I made one the size of my head. Then I tried pushing it away from me. It wouldn’t move. How could I get it to move?

I thought about it and then a brilliant and obvious idea popped into my head. Just send a fast stream of Vi particles into the center of the sphere to push it away from me.

When I did that, the sphere slowly moved away from me at about 1 mile per hour. Then when it finally hit the wall, the wall exploded into a million pieces.

We didn’t have a ton of structures I could do that to, so we walked out into the dragon territories and I tried shooting the sphere diagonally towards the ground.

I kept doing it faster and faster until it was about the speed of my fastest punch. Which was pretty fast. By the time we were done with that, I had made a massive crater in the dirt floor.

"Ok, next is the force palm. You’ve told me you already know how to do this one. But you needed a lot of prep time to do it," she said.

"Yeah, about 3 seconds!" I said.

"That’s too much time. You want to be able to do it immediately at the end of an open fist punch. If you can hit your opponent with it, you can do a devastating amount of damage," she said. "Now hit me."

"Hit you? With a force palm? Wouldn’t that waste a ton of your power to heal?" I said.

"Not really. I’m made of sturdier stuff than you. I can take it," she said.

"Ok, if you’re sure," I said.

I started by practicing the preparation. Vi into the palm, then explosively release it outwards.

"You want to extend the Vi slightly past your palm, so that when you hit your opponent, it creates pressure that you can then release to do more damage," she said.

"Ok," I said.

I did just that. I created a blanket of Vi over my palm and then practiced releasing it, explosively. Then, when I felt I was ready, I punched her with it. I did everything right. I released the Vi exactly at the point of impact, but she barely moved.

"Again!" She said.

"Ok, geez!" I said.

I did it again, but this time I condensed and prepped more Vi into my palm. This time when I hit her, she swayed slightly.

"Again!" She said.

The next time I did it, she had to step back to keep her balance.

"Again!" She said.

This time, she flew back a few feet, but she still landed standing upright.

"Again!" She said.

"I know!" I said.

This time, she flew back 10 feet. Then 30. Then 50. Then 100. She still landed on her feet every time.

"Ok, I think that’s good," she said.

"What do you mean? You never once fell over or acted hurt," I said.

"That’s true, but it’s me. You’re never going to hurt or knock me over with blunt force like that. If you did that to a human, they’d be obliterated. And I don’t mean that metaphorically. I mean, they would literally explode," she said.

"That’s disgusting. I really needed that mental image," I said.

"Oh, get over it," she said. "Now, final technique. The energy wave." She wiggled her fingers through the air for emphasis.

"Ok, how do we do it?" I said.

"It builds on the force palm to an extent, but it’s also its own thing," she said. "You build up Vi in the palm, but when you release it, you don’t stop releasing Vi for 2 to 3 seconds. You release Vi as much and as fast as possible in as wide of a spread as possible. It’s designed to just things and people away from you." Read latest stories on novelbuddy

"Think of it like you’re creating your own gale force winds out of your palm. It’ll push anything that’s not nailed down away from you."

"Sounds cool," I said. "Let’s get started."
