Unscented-Chapter 1031 - 973 What a pity.

It’s been three days since the fire incident and Tom hadn’t been to the apartment which he shared with Lily.

Lily worried about what he has been doing,and if he was with Nina.

Lily felt very jealous.She wondered if Tom would take care of her the way he’s doing to Nina,if something terrible were to ever happen to her.

The morning of the next day,Lily concluded on visiting the hospital.Her intentions weren’t to persuade Tom to return home,she just wanted to inquire from him,how long he intended babysitting Nina.

Upon arrival at the hospital,Lily was about entering the ward where Nina stayed,abruptly the door flung open and Tom walked out.

"Tom!"Lily ran excitedly to him.

Tom frowned upon seeing her,he pondered for a while before asking,

"Why are you here?,Are you here for me?"

"I haven’t seen you for three days now.Why didn’t you take my calls?"Lily complained,she noticed that Tom didn’t seem so feliticious about her presence,she pouted and added.

"I came just because I was worried sick about you.I didn’t mean to piss you off."

"I’m sorry"Tom didn’t want to argue with her.He apologized and said calmly,

"I need to head to work,you should go now."

Tom walked out of the hospital gate,leaving Lily pondering on what really was going on.She knew for sure that it wasn’t his parents that were burnt to death,but what she couldn’t fathom,was the reason Tom looked so downcast.

She followed him slowly with a saddened look.A red Ferrari sped past on the road.Tom suddenly halted.

Tom stared at the Ferrari untill it disappeared.Lily felt his reaction was strange.She caught up with him and asked,

"Tom,what are you staring so much at?,Do you know the owner of the car?"

"No,I don’t know him"Tom shook his shook his head negatively.

"What so beautiful about it?,It’s just a car right?"Lily shrugged her shoulders.

Tom’s eyes trailed the direction the car went.He heaved a sigh of relief and muttered himself,

"I can’t even buy a tire of that Ferrari with the money i make each month.

"That car is a limited edition.I can’t afford it for the rest of my life."He added with a scoff.Lily who was listening behind him,let out a sad sigh.

Lily was a girl from Phoenix,she was of the opinion that hardwork could make people rich.

"Why don’t you believe in yourself,huh?If you want the sport car,we can work together for it.There are so many entrepreneurs in this society who started off with nothing"Lily adviced.Tom turn to stare at Lily’s innocent face,his lips cracked in a smile.

"The era is different"Tom shook his head,looked at her and asked,

"Aren’t you aware that ordinary people like us,especially office workers in this city,are most likely to be middle class all our lives?"

"Then how do you plan on making a fortune?,Robbing a bank?"Lily joked,she chuckled and added,

"Erase all thought of robbery from your mind.It ain’t worth it."

Tom smiled faintly and took Lily’s tender hand,

"Let’s go and have breakfast,and also purchase some lottery ticket.We may as well try our luck."

Glad that Tom was a in a better mood,Lily followed him obediently into the restaurant.

Carlee sat on the white,beautiful sofa.She was astonished by what she heard.She seldomly paid attention to the news,and her newscaster,Sylvia,had gone to pay her parents a visit.She was basically isolated from the world.

When the housekeeper made mention of the incident to her,she was shocked and immediately thought of a person.

She called Sylvia and inquired in a hurry,

"Sylvia,I heard that Nina’s parents were burnt to death.Are you aware of that?"

Sylvia had prepared herself for this call a while ago.She replied calmly,

"I heard about it yesterday,but i honestly didn’t expect such to happen.Nina’s parents were only in their Early fifties.It’s such a pity."

Carlee shook her head and sighed,

"It’s quite sad that the accident happened."

After chit chatting with Sylvia for a while,Carlee suddenly thought of Harley.

"By the way,the incident is on the news.Harley must have seen it,right?"

"Yea,I think so too."Sylvia responded.Carlee placed a call with her other phone,while still on a call with Sylvia.

"Hello?,Do you know the whereabout of Harley?"Carlee asked into phone,she turned on the loud speaker so Sylvia could hear.

"Yes ma’am,I do.He’s been with Nina since the fire incident"The lady replied from the other end replied.

"Wait,what!?"Carlee ended the call,all the sympathy she had displayed for Nina suddenly vanished.She became anxious thinking about her son,Harley.She knew she wouldn’t be able to persuade Harley to leave Nina,she sighed helplessly and muttered.

"There are together just because of the fire,yes,that’s just it."

The information angered Sylvia,she wished Nina and her child,had died alongside her parents.But she pretended to care in the presence of Carlee.

"Mrs Timothy,don’t blame Harley.Nina is in the most vulnerable state right now,she needs someone to look after her and her child."Sylvia muttered soothingly.Hearing Sylvia being so considerate,excited Carlee.She was glad that her future daughter-in-law was so kind.

"Even if Nina is in dire need of help,must it be from my son?"Carlee’s stated angrily.She said anxiously,

"What if after she recovers,she and her daughter decides to cling to Harley?

Sylvia said nothing,after a while of pondering,Carlee said,

"I’ll visit the hospital,and see things myself"with that she ended the call with Sylvia,tapping her feet rhythmically on the ground.

The morning worker took his shift as usual.Harley was discussing the funeral arrangements with Nina.Suddenly the door flung open,a familiar figure walked into the ward with a basket of fruit.

Nina and Harley’s faces turned blank,the moment they realized the intruder was Carlee.

"Harley son,I came to relieve you the stress of taking care of Nina,I’m afraid she can’t bear the trauma"Carlee said,her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Nina wasn’t in the right frame of mind to argue with her,she carried True from the bed into her arms,trying to pacify her.

Harley’s face changed abruptly.He knew his mother came to spite Nina.He said straightforwardly,

"Mom,you need not worry about us.I can handle things here"

Carlee shook her head with a countering smile.She raised her eyebrows and asked,

"Of course you can take of Nina,but can you take care of a child?"

She turned to Nina and said sympathically,

"Nina,I’m really sorry that something this saddening happened in your family.But you have to cheer up for your child’s sake"Carlee moved towards Nina and True slowly.
