Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 571 - 273 Strange Development_3
It’s over. Alka felt a chill in his heart. Sometimes he was just excessively unlucky. He’d just narrowly escaped death twice, and now it was happening again. This third time, he feared he might only face death directly.
Just when Alka was thinking this, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
"Young Hunter, come over. Come to my side."
Who? Alka wondered. The voice echoing in his mind was ethereal yet authoritative.
Suddenly, Alka looked up at the White Mist Serpent that was staring intently in their direction.
Could it be...
"Young Hunter, come over. I mean no harm."
"Come and accept him. Accept this trophy."
Listening to the voice in his mind, Alka looked at the gigantic serpent head that was raised, staring at them.
He sighed silently. Although he didn’t know what it meant, it seemed there was no escaping it.
He turned his head to Lucilia and said, "The snake is calling me. If I don’t send a message back soon, you should leave immediately."
By now, the red tentacles blocking their path had completely converged in the center, subdued after many struggles.
Although he didn’t know what this gigantic white snake wanted with him, he still needed to arrange their retreat.
Alka waved, dispelling the Dream Realm bubble.
Lucilia landed and quickly disappeared from the spot with the Puppet Girl.
Alka, meanwhile, silently walked towards where the White Mist Serpent’s head was.
The walk took a considerable amount of time. It seemed not far, but the serpent’s sheer size was deceptive. Now, with a reference point, Alka had a clearer understanding of the White Mist Serpent’s immensity.
Upon arrival, Alka finally saw Balazs within a white circle, along with Kriel lying on the ground, his condition unknown.
The general’s state made Alka somewhat happy. At least that’s one less threat. Too bad he wasn’t dead, though.
Then Alka looked up, gazing at the massive serpent head in the sky. He opened his mouth, but suddenly didn’t know how to address the creature.
"Young Hunter, it’s been a while since we last met."
As expected. My previous observations in the Dream Realm were noticed long ago.
"Hunter, do what you must. Cleanse this abomination that harms the Dream Realm. His body is the trophy you deserve."
The White Mist Serpent’s voice echoed in Alka’s mind as it spoke to him.
Indeed, before such beings, my Dream Catcher power seems to be nothing more than a name. But it called me a Hunter. Why?
It seems the White Mist Serpent can’t eliminate this monster made of red mist on its own. And judging by its words, as a Hunter, I can rely on the power granted by the Dream Catcher to destroy such a creature. Apparently, the Dream Catcher holds a higher priority and greater strength in the Dream Realm than I imagined.
"What should I do?" Alka asked, looking at the gigantic serpent head, a knot of nervousness tightening in his chest.
"Just hunt as you usually do. You are the Hunter."
As usual? Alka thought, puzzled by the voice in his mind. But since the serpent said so, I can only bite the bullet and try.
I’m not sure if my pink mist is sufficient to completely envelop it; this monster’s size is absurdly large.
The Dream Catcher floated out from his chest, and a massive tide of pink mist spewed forth from his body. This pink mist began to spread over the ensnared deer.
However, the deer’s size was simply too enormous, like a mountain.
My pink mist seems somewhat... miniature in comparison?
Even as a large quantity of his pink mist surged forward, it barely managed to envelop a small section of the deer’s leg.
Seeing this, Alka couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed. "Uh... this might take a little time," he said cautiously.
In the Dream Realm, I can produce as much pink mist as needed, but it requires sufficient time.
"No matter. Time does not apply to the Dream Realm, nor to me."
Alright then. I don’t understand, but it sounds impressive.
The gigantic White Mist Serpent seemed rather amiable, which unexpectedly eased some of Alka’s tension. He began to focus on controlling the mist.
From a distance, Alka looked like a chimney releasing clouds, with large amounts of pink mist surging into the sky. This mist enveloped the frantically struggling red deer. The monster’s struggles were futile; the White Mist Serpent’s massive tail bound it tightly, rendering it immobile.
Lucilia, apparently sensing it was somewhat safer, reappeared beside Alka.
"Child of Merkel? Since you are already dead, why do you not wish to depart?" The voice echoed in their minds.
The White Spirit Serpent was clearly referring to Lucilia, who had just reappeared.
"Huh?" Lucilia was bewildered by the sudden voice. Then she realized, It seems to be talking about me.
"Honorable One, I don’t quite understand what you mean," Lucilia said softly.
"Pay it no mind. It merely stirred a faint memory of mine."
After that, no further voice echoed in their minds, and the two of them fell silent.
Alka, who was continuously outputting and controlling the upward surge of mist, suddenly asked, "How are the others?"
"They’ve already come out. Julia and her group stayed on the ship, and Chadite and his group are rushing over."
Hearing this, Alka nodded. It doesn’t matter. If this white serpent really decides to attack us, running would be futile anyway. He refocused on controlling the pink mist.
As time passed, the pink mist enveloped most of the red deer’s body. Each time the mist spread, the White Mist Serpent adjusted its tail, creating an opening so Alka’s mist could cover more of the giant red deer. As the enveloped area grew, Alka felt the pressure intensify, forcing him to dedicate all his focus to controlling the pink mist.
Not far away, Chadite and the others arrived. They were very quiet and respectful. The massive, sky-obscuring White Mist Serpent was so imposing that they hardly dared to raise their heads, as if meeting its gaze would be a sign of disrespect.
Chadite moved to Lucilia’s side. Everyone sat and waited in silence.
The pink mist now wrapped around the deer’s neck, spreading towards its head. The Dream Catcher on Alka’s chest began to tremble slightly. Despite his strength, and even with the Dream Catcher’s assistance, the pressure was pushing him to his absolute limit. It seemed he was about to fail.
"Call upon your Divine. Pray for Her help."
