Chapter 257: The Meeting In Helheim [ 21 ]

[Ding!]

[Special Ability unlocked!]

[New Ability: Mystic Eyes of Absorption]

[Ding!]

[It has been determined you already own a Mystic Eyes Series Special Ability.]

[Your Mystic Eyes of Absorption and Mystic Eyes of Perception have been merged together, enhancing their own personal abilities and lifting certain limitations due to their perfect synergy.]

[Special Ability unlocked!]

[Mystic Eyes of Assimilation.]

The moment the last pop-up vanished, I suddenly saw the monocle crumble over my right eye, its small pieces falling to the ground and drowning in my blood.

But despite the monocle disappearing, the ability I had just gained was still there. More importantly, I felt more in tune with it than before, as now, instead of gaining Mystic Eyes of Absorption, it had managed to merge with my other Mystic Eyes ability.

Within just a few minutes, I could feel the Special Abilities channeling through both of my eyes, and finally, I knew that whatever boon I had just gotten was actually the most overpowered thing I could’ve found in this room.

But just what kind of limits were lifted anyway?

No... On that note, it’s been a really long time since I checked my status, so I’ll do that before Ren comes back.

Two new things appeared, and despite the changes not reflecting much in my actual stats, I knew that with this, once I practiced everything, my power would actually rival a Demon King’s.

With that in mind, I decided to just wait for Ren to come back, and all the while, I tried tinkering around with my new Mystic Eyes, but with there being nothing left to absorb and not enough energy to cling to, I wasn’t able to do anything.

And finally, Ren stepped back inside the room. I spotted the silhouettes of Wilhelm as well as Alexius in the distance, and from their slight frowns, I knew the conversation just now wasn’t very pleasant.

Still...

"The hell happened here? What’s up with my floor?" Ren asked, his brow twitching.

I lowered my head slightly.

"My bad... I saw a fly, and I tried stomping it to death. I didn’t know your treasury wasn’t reinforced at all."

He scoffed.

"My ass. I can tell when someone’s lying. Well, you’ll have to pay for those damages. On another note, here, take this."

He tossed a scroll toward me, which I caught and then inspected. To my surprise, there were some rune patterns all over it, including the word ’Teleport.’

"This is a teleportation scroll. If you tear it, you’ll be teleported to where the raid will be happening. Store it safely."

With that, Ren tossed me another scroll.

"As for this one, tear it now. We’ll start our training right away, as I intend to have everything finished by the time my fiance comes back to my estate."

In the next instant, Ren tore a scroll of his own. Once he vanished, I waited exactly three seconds before tearing my scroll.

Just then, I felt my body twist and my stomach acid practically ignite, sending a painful burst of acid up my throat. I tried to control the acid with my Telekinesis, but by the time my body stopped twisting and I found myself in another location altogether, I could only accept the acid leaving my body as I vomited all over Ren’s luxurious golden carpet.

Not only that, some of my vomit even landed on a small critter. Once my vision got better, I realized that the critter was none other than some black two-headed cat, which started jumping around and then climbing Ren’s body out of surprise.

But just like any other cat, it didn’t make the climb very pleasant as it stuck its sharp and long nails through his clothes and into his skin. Ren just stared wide-eyed at everything that had just happened in the short span of a few seconds, and once I finished vomiting and met his gaze, I could only stare at him in awkwardness.

"My bad..."

"It’s indeed your bad. What kind of guest vomits all over my carpet?"

"You could’ve warned me about that."

He rolled his eyes.

"Putting the blame on me just because you’re too stupid to think about reinforcing your own body. Tsk, tsk. You demon hybrids are all the same."

Despite that, he picked up his cat by the scruff, then placed it down on the carpet.

"Teddy, go catch us some dinner from the pond."

As if the cat understood exactly what he said, it began barreling straight toward the open front door, until finally fading from sight.

Then, Ren clapped his hands once, getting my attention.

"My estate is pretty large, so follow me carefully and don’t get lost. I’ll be taking you to my training facility."

With that, he began walking toward one of the many hallways in his estate. After wiping the vomit off my lips, I followed after him.

The estate was naturally massive, and not to mention, I could feel a lot of servants gathered around. But for some reason, none of the servants stepped out to introduce themselves, almost like they were purposefully avoiding Ren.

And while I didn’t understand why that was the case, I didn’t really care that much as I decided to just be a greedy goblin instead.

Like the greedy goblin that I was, I focused on all the dark crimson energy in the estate and brought it straight into my right eye, absorbing it and increasing my reserves slightly.

I tried sending it to my left eye too, but it didn’t work. If I had to guess, Mystic Eyes of Perception was separated into my left eye, whereas the Mystic Eyes of Absorption were in my right eye.

Even if the ability was merged, there were still some separations that I’ll have to fix later.

But until then...

"Here we are."

Ren finally stopped, and to my surprise, there was a thick steel door in front of us, alongside a futuristic keypad that shouldn’t be in this era for at least another two centuries.

And once he entered the password and opened the doors to the facility, what I saw inside made my eyes widen.
