Chapter 55 - Be happy. Be happy

Chin-hwa woke up to find himself in his room. It was still dark outside and he was in his pajamas.

Wait, he was in his dorm room?

He sat up right away. How was he in his dorm room? Then, did that mean that everything that happened over the weekend was a dream?

A dream, huh?

He laid back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. A dream. His thoughts repeated.

And then he turned his head and looked towards his lamp table that was just by his head side. He saw the digits on his digital alarm clock.

It was 4:27 in the morning and the day was... Monday.

Slowly, he fluttered his eyelashes. It was Monday already? How did he spend his weekend if all that had been a dream?

He wondered, but then, his eyes trailed slightly towards the left of his lamp table and there he saw a plushie. A white kitty cat.

His eyes slowly widened and he sat up.

"Wait, isn't that...?" He reached for the kitty cat and picked it up. "Then, it wasn't a dream?" He asked, his voice itching at his throat.

How he wished it had been a dream. How he wished none of that was real, none of what his eyes saw.

This kitty cat belonged to Yun-tae but... His hand slowly trembled... Why was his name printed on its belly?

Was this still a dream?

His eyes grew teary, recalling the dinner and then the rooftop. He never heard their conversation but his eyes told him all he needed to know.

Kang-woo and Yun-tae were probably together already.

Yun-tae must've seized the moment to confess his feelings, and Kang-woo decided to give him a chance, thus warranting that kiss he saw.

He watched it and it broke his heart.

He thought if he saw Kang-woo with someone else, reality would hit him right away and make him realize that there was no way they would ever be together because neither of them could cross that line.

But reality sure was cruel and bitter. It crushed his heart. Instead of feeling lighter, knowing that he had destroyed all chances and hopes with Kang-woo, he felt very heavy.

His heart was so heavy and he wept, squeezing the plushie in his hand.

"I wish you all the best, Yun. I really do." Chin-hwa cried, tears streaming down his face and falling on his bed. "I wish that you will have that life I always dreamed about with Kang-woo. That happy and wonderful life. And as for me, ngh... I will cheer you on from the side."

Once Kang-woo loved someone, he was sure that he would stick with them till the end. So, all Yun-tae had to do was make Kang-woo fall for him, and then he would have the happy family he dreamed about.

It wouldn't be that difficult, right? After all, Yun-tae was very likable. He was adorable, and Kang-woo was fond of adorable Omegas, he could tell.

The day brightened much faster than Chin-hwa could recount. He spent the whole time crying and consoling his broken heart while he knelt on his bed, hugging the plushie.

His eyes were once again swollen as he stared at the glass door that led to his balcony. He could see the beautiful rising sun and for one last time, a tear slid down from his eye.

'Be happy. Be happy.' Chin-hwa told himself. 'I'm supposed to be happy, but why does it feel like I can never be happy from here on out?'

He sat up, facing the balcony.

'What was it that used to put a smile on my face? What was it that I used to live for? What did I hope for?' He asked himself and turned to the kitty cat that had been slightly soaked by his tears.

He stared at it for a while and gritted his teeth. From gritting his teeth, he released them and said to himself,

"I should probably get this back to Yun." He said and got up, taking the kitty cat with him.

He slightly staggered as he made his way towards his bathroom. He just needed to wash off the tears and not soak the entire thing.

It was winter season so it would dry up very quickly. He could just keep it in the dryer till he was done getting ready for class.

He slowly watched the plushie and stared at the name. His eyes were dim.

"I'm sure it was Yun-tae's name printed on this. So, why is my name on it? Was it a mistake?" He wondered and tossed his head, taking in a deep breath and exhaling. "Is this really not a dream?"

He dropped his head and kept washing it.

"Forget it. I'm just delusional from a broken heart." He muttered and paused once more. "A broken... Heart. Ah, how pathetic." He scoffed as he gripped the edges of the wash bowl. "Wasn't my heart already broken a long time ago?"

He put the plushie in the dryer and took off his soaked sheets as well. He cried a lot.

"I think I feel better after crying my eyes out." He kept talking to himself. "I just hope I don't disgrace myself if I do come in contact with Kang-woo in one of our classes. He's majoring in interior designing after all."

He gently chuckled as he made his way to the washing machine.

"How comical, don't you think? I never knew he would go ahead with our dream but he's really doing it. What does he hope to achieve this time around?" He tucked it all in the washing machine, poured in detergent, and made sure to fill it up with water. "Maybe he still hopes to design his own home."

He paused and turned to the biggest stuffed animal in his room. It was a teddy bear Woo-bin had gotten him. It was as big as he was but Chin-hwa would have to bend his back a bit to look the teddy in its black beady eyes.

He stared at the teddy bear's face while pouting and said,

"Yeah, I think so too." He rubbed the ear of the teddy bear. "He wants to design a home for his future family." He tilted his head, smiling painfully. "And guess what, I won't be in it."

He laughed and started taking off his pajamas, dropping them in his empty dirty clothes basket.

"Kang-woo's going to design a home for his future wife and kids and it's likely to be Yun-tae, I know. Don't tell me twice." He reached for his shorts, pausing again. "What?"

He turned to the teddy, looking surprised.

"My Hyung brought me back last night?"
