Chapter 54 - There was something that played in his mind
They got down from the rooftop and were told Chin-hwa had gone to wait in the car by one of the waiters.
Truly, he had gone to the car and had fallen asleep in the front seat, curled up like a ball.
Kang-woo was a little bit relieved. He had not figured out how he would react when he saw Chin-Hwa again after all that. He was just going to play it cool and announce that Yun-tae was now his boyfriend, but it felt so difficult.
Since Chin-hwa was also, he did not have to go through all that.
He entered the driver's seat, ready to leave when he noticed that Chin-hwa's eyes were quite swollen from crying.
Why did he cry? Were they tears of happiness or something else? He wondered but there was no way to know.
He assumed it was tears of happiness. After all, this was what he wanted, wasn't it?
He brushed his eyelids with his thumb while Yun-tae made his way to the back seat.
He proceeded to put on his seatbelt for him when he heard Chin-hwa mutter a few inaudible words.
"Hm?"
He brought his ear closer and heard the words,
"Stop."
That was all he heard before Chin-hwa went silent, falling into deep sleep. What was he trying to say? He wondered but he could not exactly wake him up and ask him.
"Is everything okay?" Yun-tae asked and Kang-woo nodded.
"Yeah, it is." He helped Chin-hwa with the seatbelt and did his before turning on the engine. "Let's head back now."
Yun-Tae picked up the kitty cat that was in the back seat with him. He stared at it, a little flush dancing on his cheeks.
He was happy, but at the same time, troubled.
Everything still didn't play out right for him, and as much as he would love to enjoy his happiness at finally entering a relationship with someone as perfect, kind, and caring as Kang-woo, his heart could not flaunt it.
There was something that played in his mind.
Why would Kang-woo go as far as shedding tears for Chin-hwa? No, it was only natural since they literally grew up together. But... why would he, Yun-tae, shed tears for them?
He hadn't known Kang-woo long and he had only known Chin-hwa for three years. Two, if he was going to subtract the time he spent trying to get close to him and get him to join their friend group.
Chin-hwa had been so difficult to approach since he shut everyone else out of his world.
And to avoid scaring him away, they took precautions when getting close to him.
So, was it because he was a weak-hearted person who was so familiar with pain that it made him ache, or was it because their pain was just too great to bear?
His heart and mind were confused.
What did he truly feel at that moment?
Yun-tae rested his head on the window, watching the road as Kang-woo drove. Then slowly, his eyelids closed in sleep.
He was too exhausted and couldn't even think for much longer.
So, it was best to close his eyes and fall asleep.
Kang-woo got to their house and stopped the car. He looked through the rearview mirror to find Yun-tae asleep and then he glanced towards Chin-hwa.
He stared at his sleeping face. His eyelids were a little bit swollen, and his lush lips were firmly pressed together.
He reached his hand out towards him and gently swiped his hair out of his face.
He pressed his thumb on his cheek, stroking lightly, and earned a soft moan from Chin-hwa's closed lips.
"Mm," he immediately took his hand back, scared that he had been caught but Chin-hwa was still deep in sleep.
His eyebrows were slightly furrowed as though he was having a bad dream and Kang-woo sighed.
"Does my touch give you discomfort?" He muttered and got out of the car.
He couldn't think of it waking either of them up but as soon as he opened the door, another car drove in and parked right next to him.
Deok-Ryu got down from the car and called out in a loud voice,
"Yo, brother-in-law, what are you doing out here?"
Yes, it was clear as day that everyone in Chin-hwa's family knew of Chin-hwa's feelings for Kang-woo, even if he tried to lie to them a bunch of times.
But they played along with it, acting oblivious, even during the times he was hurting.
And they likewise knew of Kang-woo's, but it wasn't like he ever tried to hide how he treated Chin-hwa. The love sparkling in his eyes were literally stars.
Kang-woo did not mind it when they always referred to him as a brother-in-law or son-in-law, but that could not be said for Chin-Hwa, who found such remarks as a tease.
And then, there was the point where they wanted to keep their knowledge of his feelings hidden so as not to be seen as betrayers.
If he had known that they all knew about his feelings, he would've asked why they still wanted to keep him away from the truth even though they knew how he felt.
The truth that contained Kang-woo's departure.
He would've considered it a worse form of betrayal since it would look like they did not want them to be together and were against his happiness.
Things would've been very complicated.
In any case, they were all looking forward to the day the both of them would set aside the problems between them and finally tie the knot.
Deok-ryu always called Kang-woo 'brother-in-law' whenever Chin-hwa was not around, showing he still had his full support for their future together.
Kang-woo cleared his throat and said,

"Hwa is in the car."
As soon as Deok-ryu heard this, his eyes widened and he almost panicked. He didn't hear him, did he?
"Don't worry, he's fast asleep." Kang-woo said and Deok-ryu let out a sigh of relief.
He would've been in for one hell of a questioning session.
"You guys must've gone out to have fun, right? My little Hwa must be exhausted." Deok-ryu said.
"Yes, well," Kang-woo looked inside the car at Hwa and closed his eyes. "There was quite the event. But they aside," he turned to Deok-ryu. "Can you help me take him back?"
