Chapter 53 - How can I ignore that you're doing this because you want Hwa to be happy?

Kang-woo cupped Yun-tae's face in his hands and then kissed him.

Yun-tae's eyes widened. Why did he...?

His eyes trailed to the figure behind Kang-woo and he saw Chin-hwa staring with a shocked expression on his face.

He looked like the world had fallen on him but he immediately changed his expression, forcing a smile to curl up his face.

He gave Yun-tae a thumbs up and turned around, going back the way he came.

'This feels so wrong.' Yun-tae thought, shutting his eyes but then he felt something wet drop on his face.

He opened his eyes to find Kang-woo's closed eyes tearing up and his stars slowly dropped on his cheeks.

Why was he crying?

For a grown and perfect Alpha like Kang-woo to shed tears, how pitiful was that?

Kang-woo knew Chin-hwa had seen them, but he did not stop. This was what would make him happy, right?

And Chin-hwa's happiness was his happiness but this did not make him happy. It tore at his heart. It broke him, knowing Chin-hwa did not want him and wanted to push him away to his friend.

It came to his mind before Chin-Hwa saw him as his brother, but they both planned to stay together forever without even bringing up talks of marriage with another person.

So, he thought that even if they did not get romantically involved, they would stay like that forever. If they were going to stay single, they would stay single together.

But now... Chin-hwa had pushed him away to someone else.

He was a fool for his wants and needs and at the same time, he was a sinner who had a lot to atone for. And to atone, he promised himself to carry out all of Chin-hwa's wishes.

Whatever he wanted, he would give it to him. Whatever he wanted him to do, he would do it.

So long as it brought him happiness, he would give it all up. He told himself Chin-hwa's happiness was his happiness but this... Was this happiness?

Well, it didn't matter. His needs weren't as important as Chin-hwa's so even if he had to give up his happiness, he would do so.

But... It didn't mean it didn't hurt.

It hurt so much that his tears fell while trying to hold that position with his lips pressed against someone that was not Chin-hwa.

He felt a hand on his face and opened his eyes to find Yun-tae wiping his tears with his thumb. He had this pained expression.

"I used to think our first kiss would give me butterflies." Yun-tae said. "But instead of butterflies, all I feel is this throbbing feeling in my heart. I like you a lot, Kang-woo. I really do and I want to be with you, but how can I ignore whatever is going on between you two and smile when I'm with you."

He lowered his head, dropping his hands on his face.

"How can I ignore that you're doing this because you want Hwa to be happy and not because you want to be with me? Being with me... Is not of your own free will." He raised his head, screaming out. "So, how can I accept this?"

Kang-woo hugged him.

"I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted." Kang-woo apologized. 'My heart has always been with one person and I don't think it'll ever change, but...' He looked at Yun-tae. "If we get to spend more time together, I'm sure I will come to love you for real. So, give me a chance."

Yun-tae's eyebrows furrowed.

His words did not put him at ease at all.

"I'm sorry to drag you into this." Kang-woo apologized. "But I will try my best as your boyfriend from now on, so I ask again. Please, give me a chance."

Yun-tae freed himself from his embrace and looked him in the eye. He was pleading again. Pleading so desperately.

'Jeez, I'm the one in love with you, so why are you the desperate one?' Yun-tae wondered, cleaning his tears with his palm when Kang-woo handed him his handkerchief again. "Thank you." He cleaned his tears and then realized that he had cried all over Kang-woo's coat. "Oh my Gosh, I'm so sorry."

He tried to clean it with the same handkerchief but Kang-woo caught his hand, smiled at him, and said,

"It's alright." He said. "But you still haven't given me an answer. Will you give me a chance? Teach me... To fall for you."

Yun-tae pursed his lips. That line was straight out of a romance movie, and coming from someone like Kang-woo, it felt so romantic, but his heart was still heavy. Maybe he needed to sleep it out of his system and think of it on the bright side.

It looked like Chin-hwa really wanted to help him. He really wanted Kang-woo to date him, so if they did this, that would make Chin-hwa happy, right?

"T-then, alright." Yun-tae accepted. "I really like you, Kang-woo, so I will inevitably hope that you like me back. So, I will do all I can to get you to fall for me."

Kang-woo nodded, a little smile playing on his lips.

"Please, do." He said.

And then it got awkward. Yun-tae could not believe that so many things happened in the span of two days. It was just yesterday that he asked Chin-hwa to help him out and in less than 48 hours, he was officially his boyfriend.

The situation that led to it wasn't exactly the best but it still happened.

It was unbelievable, honestly.

"Achoo!" Yun-tae sneezed.

"It seems we've been out here for too long. Let's start going down." Kang-woo said, stretching his hand towards him.

"Huh?" Yun-tae looked at the hand, confused.

"I'm supposed to hold your hands." Kang-woo said to him and Yun-tae gasped.

"Oh, right. There's such a thing. Since we're dating now and all. Alright." He gave Kang-woo his hand and he left him towards the door that led to the stairs.

Yun-tae felt squishy inside. He felt strange and watched the back of Kang-woo's head as he led him away.

'Is this perhaps... A dream?' he wondered and closed his eyes. The wind on the rooftop was still strong and Kang-woo's hand was warm.

It wasn't a dream.

"Are we going to make our relationship public?" Yun-tae asked. "Since you don't love me yet, I wanted to know."

Kang-woo stopped walking and turned his head to him, smiling.

"Please, do. But refrain from bringing it up where Hwa's family and my family are at." He said. "Don't ask, just listen, okay? I think it would be for the better that they don't know... Yet."

"Oh, alright." Yun-tae was really going to ask why but Kang-woo already told him not to before he did.

He could not guess the reason so he decided to leave it at that.
