Chapter 52 - I... I don't know why either

"If it were, I would've done it a long time ago. But like Hwa said, the hole can't be easily covered and I, who dug that hole, can do nothing about it." Kang-woo confessed.

Yun-tae guessed that the hole was thanks to Kang-woo, but hearing that even Kang-woo couldn't do anything about it made them look miserable.

"I can only do the things he wants me to do and stay put, acting like it's all okay. I can't even apologize." He covered his face, which was crumbling in pain.

Yun-tae's lips quivered and he finally spoke out.

"You two..."

But Kang-woo interrupted him.

"Now, that comes to the question I want to ask," Kang-woo said, dropping his hand and smiling.

He did not let Yun-tae see his crumbling expression and kept it simple.

"It seems Hwa wants to do something." He said. "The reason why he always keeps leaving you with me, I thought it was simply because he was uncomfortable around me but it's more than that, isn't it? He leaves you with me whenever he can, and he makes sure to glance at you before leaving; why is that?"

Yun-tae's heart got heavy and he gulped down a huge lump that had suddenly blocked his throat.

Kang-woo was sharp. Then, all this while, when he watched Chin-hwa, he noticed every little bit of detail.

Then, that meant he wasn't far from finding out that Chin-hwa was trying to set them together on his request. Maybe he wouldn't realize that it was at his request but he would find out Chin-hwa was trying to set them up together.

"If I said I didn't know, would that suffice?" Yun-tae asked, once again twiddling his thumb and barely making eye contact.

Kang-woo watched him twiddled his thumb. They only met recently but he had caught on to his habit.

"I'd know that you're not telling the truth." He said and got up.

He stood before Yun-tae, shadowing him with his height. He raised his hand, and Yun-tae instinctively shit his eyes as if expecting to be hit from lying, but Kang-woo simply dropped his hand on his head and patted him.

"I could tell Hwa wanted me to patt your head back then as well." He's said, gently brushing his hair. "Because you're adorable. Hwa is also very adorable, and I can't help but pat his head every now and then. But I couldn't get why his eyes told me to patt you when we weren't very familiar with one another."

"I... I don't know why either." Yun-tae's heart kept beating fast. What was going on? He was so close?

"Yun-tae, please, tell me what Chin-hwa hopes to accomplish." Kang-woo said. "Only then will I be able to meet his expectations. And maybe then, will he be satisfied. If what he hopes to accomplish comes true, wouldn't he be happy? We both want him to be happy, right? So please, don't hide it and tell me."

Yun-tae looked up at Kang-woo's eyes. They were honestly begging him. But how does he explain that what Chin-hwa hoped to accomplish was to get him to fall in love with him?

If he told him now, wouldn't it all fall to naught?

Just what was going to happen?

"I... I'll tell you." Yun-tae said with a little stutter.

Whatever! If he could stop Kang-woo from staring at him with those painfully pleading eyes then he would do anything.

"Chin-hwa was trying to get us to bond in hopes that you would fall..." His voice volume went down as he confessed. "...in love with me and we would start dating."

Kang-woo's eyes widened. They shifted away from him and back to him, the pain still residing deep within them.

"And that is what he wants?" Kang-woo asked, his voice lower than before and sounding more brisk. "Why is that?"

Yun-tae threw his face away, guilt ripping his heart. This was enough. He didn't need to say more. Kang-woo would look at him weirdly if he said the rest.

Yes, this was enough.

Yet, his lips kept moving.

"It's because," he gulped. "I told him I had fallen for you. I told him I wanted to be with you." He gasped and looked up at Kang-woo, grabbing his hand. "But that was before all of this. That was before I realized that you were both suffering like this, please, believe me," tears streamed down his cheeks. "I would never be so selfish to think of myself first when I know of what's going on. I don't want to be a hindrance that will stop you two from patching your relationship, I..." Yun-tae bit his lip.

He did his best to explain. He knew it was wrong to hope for a romantic moment when they were both like this, so he cried. That was why he cried.

He hoped Kang-woo would not look at him and see a selfish person. He didn't want him to dislike him. He would do anything to avoid that from happening.

"It's alright," Kang-woo said, lifting him by the chin. He wiped the tears from his eyes. "I believe with you, we can patch this relationship."

"What? What does that mean?"

"You're not selfish, Yun-tae." Kang-woo said, a smile of relief coursing through his face. "I can tell that you have a good heart and you care for Hwa just as much as I do. So, let's both work hard together to make Hwa happy."

Yun-tae was a bit confused. No, he was completely lost. Why did he smile?

"So long as I know what Hwa wants, I can make him happy." Kang-woo said. "And right now," his eyes grew teary. This was not something he ever imagined himself doing with anyone else.

He never thought things would lead to this, but for the sake of Chin-hwa, even if it hurt his heart, he would do it.

He just wanted Chin-hwa to be fully happy again. And if dating someone else would make him happy, then he would do it for him.

"... Right now, being with you will make him happy, so let's do it." He suddenly got closer, cupped Yun-tae's face, and then kissed him.

Yun-tae's eyes widened. Why did he...?

His eyes trailed to the figure behind Kang-woo and he saw Chin-hwa staring with a shocked expression on his face.
