To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 51: Now, it’s time for me to ask my question
Chapter 51 - Now, it's time for me to ask my question
"Tell me," Kang-woo spoke up and Yun-tae sniffed, looking up at him. "Why are you 'really' crying?"
Yun-tae sniffed but shook his head.
"I know it's not because of the view." He stepped closer towards him. "Your face isn't contorting in happiness or excitement, and you keep clutching your chest like you're in pain."
"You already know, so why are you asking?" Yun-tae asked, cleaning his tears since no more rolled down.
"I know it's because of some sort of pain but I don't know what it is." Kang-woo answered. "Did my little Hwa tell you something that made you cry?"
"If I tell you, you'll answer one of my questions." Yun-tae said and Kang-woo tilted his head. What could it be?
Well, it was certainly harmless to answer one question of his.
"And in return, you'll answer one of my questions as well."
"But I'm already answering one so you can answer mine." He said but seemed to jumble his thoughts. "Or was it...?"
Kang-woo laughed and nodded.
"I understand what you're trying to say. But..." His face fell sadly once more. "There is something I really want to know and if it's at the cost of you telling me what Hwa told you, then I think I'd rather ask this and leave that aside."
Yun-tae stared at him. There it was again. That sad look on his face. That sadness was related to Chin-Hwa.
He bit his lip.
"Alright. I'll answer your question." He said. "And you can also ask another after mine. It's okay."
"Thank you."
Kang-woo was handsome. He was the handsome Alpha Yun-tae fell in love with at first sight. And an opportunity to get closer to this handsome Alpha had been presented to him, but instead of taking it, he was more concerned about Chin-hwa and his friendship with him.
His heart did not flutter but he felt like it was thanks to how much he was worrying about Chin-hwa.
He believed he still had strong feelings for Kang-woo that could end up in marriage if they got serious.
"Chin-hwa said there is a hole in his heart." Yun-tae said and Kang-woo's heart shifted from its position.
It was almost like it sank to the bottom of his stomach, but he could still feel it beating hard in his chest.
"He said it hurts but no matter what he does, he can't cover up the hole," he wiped his eyes with his palm. "He said it with such a sad expression, and I know he's hurting, but he tries his best to smile. I don't know, I just feel guilty for no reason. I can't do anything to help him and I feel being here, in this special place of yours, is very wrong. So, I couldn't help but cry."
"So, Hwa told you this is our special place, and because you know that, you felt guilty coming to this special place?" Kang-woo asked and Yun-tae nodded. "But he brought you here, why do you feel guilty?"
"Because it's yours." He said, dropping his hands and looking Kang-woo in the eye. "It's something important in your memories, so I shouldn't be here. I shouldn't be in your precious memories. Your friendship... It's suffering right now, so why am I here? Why am I adding to your pain?"
He was close to tears once more and Kang-woo stared at him.
As far as he knew, Yun-tae held a certain interest in Chin-hwa. He was always so excited about anything that involved him. He was the kind of friend who wanted to get close enough that you would mistake them for brothers.
But unfortunately, Chin-hwa has closed off that door and would not allow it.
'Then, his concern for my Hwa must be why he is hurting right now. He knows Hwa is hurting, so he's hurting as well. It's just like me.' Kang-woo thought, lowering his head. 'But what I feel for Hwa is stronger.' he thought but then realized something. His eyebrows furrowed. 'Wait a minute, would a normal friend shed so many tears just because their friend was hurting?'
"Now, it's time for me to ask my question," Yun-tae said, trying to compose himself and not shed more tears.
Kang-woo observed him. Given how he was so concerned about Chin-hwa, he was probably going to ask if he knew anything about the hole in Chin-hwa's heart. He probably wanted to know why Chin-hwa was hurting.
'How will I answer this question?' Kang-woo thought. 'Since I'm the one who probably created that hole, should I tell him I caused it with my departure?'
"What about you?" Yun-tae asked and Kang-woo looked up at him.
"What?"
That was a confusing question.
"What about you? Do you also... have a hole in your heart?" He asked with a painful expression on his face. "You do, right? Because every time you look at Hwa, you have this sad expression like you're going to die if he doesn't look back at you. I'm guessing you hurt him before you left but you care for him, so you didn't intend to do it. So, at this moment, there's a hole in both your hearts, right? You're both pained by each other's presence and absence alike. Tell me I'm not wrong."
Kang-woo was speechless. The question they were asked ended up getting answered by the same person, but he just didn't expect that he would also talk about him.
"I don't... Think I deserve your pity." Kang-woo said, lowering his head. "I caused all of this. I caused Hwa pain and I..."
"And you didn't mean it." Yun-tae interrupted him, taking him aback. "I don't need a fortune teller or a soothsayer to tell me that you're a kind person who cares for Hwa the most. Right now, what you two need is to get rid of your misunderstanding and make-up. Your expressions are always..." He bit his lip. "...so painful to watch. I may be the stranger in your midst but I understand pain just from looking at one."

"It's not that simple." Kang-woo said and finally sat down, lowering his head.
There had been a place to sit all along but they chose to stand. They didn't really have a chance to sit down, honestly.
Kang-woo's legs had gone weak, so he decided to sit down.
"If it were, I would've done it a long time ago. But like Hwa said, the hole can't be easily covered and I, who dug that hole, can do nothing about it."
