Chapter 49 - You look hot

Chin-hwa stared at the spoonful of vanilla ice cream and glanced at Kang-woo, who smiled warmly at him.

"Here," he said, "You can have my first."

Yun-tae saw this and watched them, wondering what that was about.

"I'm not a kid that you need to feed." Chin-hwa said and Kang-woo nodded.

"Yes, I know. And I'm not treating you like a kid." He said. "I just couldn't give you what you wanted earlier, so I want to give this to you. I know you like it a lot, so please, have it."

Chin-hwa went silent. Was he referring to the kitty cat? He didn't want it 'that' much. It was just one of the many plushies that he would like to see in his room. It wasn't a big deal.

And it was a good thing Yun-tae got it at the end. That way, he wouldn't use it as a means to remember the fun he had with Kang-woo on this day.

There were already too many memory items like that, and he wished he could throw them all away, but he didn't have the heart to.

So, it was better to reduce them.

"Please," Kang-woo added.

This melted Chin-hwa's heart, and he sighed, giving in. But he felt this would make Yun-tae misunderstand, so he said,

"You kept doing this a lot in the past. You shouldn't treat me like a kid just because you're taller than me." He said and opened his mouth.

The ice cream went into his mouth and a bit of it trailed down his lips and down his chin. It was already melting because Chin-hwa had been hesitating for too long.

"How is it?" Kang-woo asked and Chin-hwa nodded.

"It's good." He answered, using his tongue to clean up the ice cream on his lips. "It still tastes so good even after I've tried it so many times." He used his thumb to wipe the one on his chin and then he licked it. "I want more."

He raised his gaze and found the both of them staring with flushed faces. He was confused. What was wrong with them all of a sudden?

Yun-tae immediately looked away, digging on his ice cream and Kang-woo turned the other way, rubbing his neck.

Chin-hwa probably didn't know because he had been doing it subconsciously but the way he licked the bit of ice cream on his lips and then licked the ice cream on his thumb... His movement seemed rather erotic for some reason.

"You look hot." Chin-hwa said, drawing close to Yun-tae who flinched. "What's wrong? The air con is working perfectly fine and you're licking ice cream as well. So why are you looking hot? Ah, you're even sweating."

"Ahem," Kang-woo cleared his throat. "Let's...have our ice cream before they melt." He said.

"But I think something is wrong with Yun." Chin-hwa said but Yun-tae shook his head.

"No, nothing's wrong. I'm completely fine." He said. "And I'm not hot at all." He began to scoop his ice cream heavily and Chin-hwa felt if he continued like that, he would get a brain freeze once more.

That awkward atmosphere seemed to have lifted the heavy one of before and there was no longer an ice block floating in their midst.

Yun-tae finished his ice cream and sighed. He turned towards the glass wall and stared at Chin-hwa from the reflection. He was enjoying his ice cream so well.

Yun-tae placed his hand on his chest. His heart was thumping.

Was he that surprised? He had never seen Chin-hwa like that before and he looked so erotic that he got so embarrassed and flushed.

Guess there were still a lot of things he had yet to find out. No surprise there.

"Shall we head to the rooftop now?" Chin-hwa asked and Yun-tae turned to find Chin-hwa's bowl empty. Ah, he was sure there was still a lot of ice cream. Where did it all go in a split second?

"What about the bill?"

"Kang-woo will go sign under our family name so we don't have to worry about it." Chin-hwa said and stood up. Kang-woo raised his hand for the waiter to bring over the bill. "Come, let's go who Kang-woo sorts this out."

Yun-tae nodded and stood up.

They picked up their coats and put them on before heading towards the rooftop.

As they made their way up, Yun-tae glanced at Chin-hwa and asked,

"Hwa, on a scale from 1 to 10," he began, and Chin-Hwa thought he was going to ask something that had to do with his future relationship with Kang-woo, but Yun-tae shocked him by asking, "...how close do you think our friendship is?"

Chin-hwa paused on his steps. How close were they? On a scale from 1 to 10?

"And if you think we're close enough," he started nervously twiddling his fingers again while avoiding eye contact. "Could you please answer this question? How heavily hurt, are you?"

Chin-hwa was speechless. He did not expect Yun-tae to ask such a question. So, he was curious about their friendship and not Kang-woo this time, hm?

He could never seem to read Yun-tae's thought movement; what went on in that pretty head of his, and what are his real concerns.

"You wanna know how close we are?" Chin-hwa asked, turning towards him. "Well, let me show you."

He grabbed Yun-tae's hand and led him out through the door that led to the rooftop.

He pushed the door open and the wind on the rooftop hit them. It was strong but at the same time, it was relaxing.

"Do you know, aside from Kang-woo, you're the only one who's come up to the rooftop with me?" He said, smiling at him. "I never took anyone else with me. Or rather still," he chuckled. "I didn't want to share this view with anyone else. But I'm taking you here with me, what does that mean?"

"I... I don't know." Yun-tae stuttered. He was mesmerized.

The view was indeed beautiful. And he wasn't referring to the view outside the rooftop. It was the one right in front of him, smiling so broadly as his short hair danced in the wind.

It almost took his breath away.
