The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 57: [Bonus - ] Confidential

Princess Eleanor was silent. She knew that Sir Kit was a little doubtful about her but Princess Eleanor also knew that there was no way around things.

She looked down at Noa as she said, "Do we have the other perfume ready?"

Nia understood what Princess Eleanor was getting at. She nodded her head in a hurry as she waited for her further instructions.

"We will need to give the new batch of unopened perfume to Sir Kit." Princess Eleanor said with a smile on her face. Her eyes were blinking with excitement as she said. "We cannot just pass on a used bottle to him."

Nia nodded her head. She understood the unsaid words of Princess Eleanor. She looked down only to realize that she still held the letter from Duke Felix.

"This," Nia did not understand how to say the words out loud. Her eyes were narrowed as she waited for Princess Eleanor’s words.

"It is a letter for you so read it, Nia." Princess Eleanor said with a smile. "I am injured and we still need to travel to the temple tomorrow. I will rest now as the injuries are hurting me."

Princess Eleanor said those words as she turned around a little. Her legs that were touching the floor were now up on the bed as she moved her body. Princess Eleanor’s eyes closed as she tried to rest, leaving her lady in waiting to read her much-awaited letter.

Although Princess Eleanor turned around and pretended to sleep, her senses were much sharper. She could hear Nia opening the letter as she unfolded the paper.

Princess Eleanor did not know what her childhood friend must have written, but she knew that Nia must be very happy.

’But Duke Felix will soon marry Princess Macy. Can you really take that Nia?’ Princess Eleanor asked herself as she continued pretending to sleep.

Nia opened the letter with trembling hands. She was happy that she had gotten the letter from duke Felix but somewhere in her heart, there was a little fear. Fear of messing things up.

Nia took a deep breath as she said in a small tone of annoyance. "That’s it?" Her voice was as low as a whisper.

There were only a few lines written in the letter. which made Nia a little confused. They were lovers who had only met for a few days before she had to go to the Empire and yet the man she loved was barely writing to her.

Nia did not know what she was expecting from the letter anymore. Maybe she thought that Duke Felix would write how much he missed her or how everything else reminded him of her. Maybe ask how she was and was she taking care of her body? Anything that would show concern but the letter was a disappointment.

Nia stared at the words again as she read them in her mind, trying to see if there were any hidden meanings written in them. Maybe Duke Felix found it odd to write such emotional words to another unknown man.

’The weather here is good and I hope that you have reached the Empire without any mishaps. Please let me know if you have suffered any inconvenience or if the knights have been disrespectful. I wish to hear the good news soon.’

Nia took a deep breath as she walked towards a small table to write a reply. She had packed a few papers and ink to write the letter to Duke Felix but Nia was afraid that it must have been damaged on the way.

Nia was happy that there was not a lot of destruction by the enemy as she still managed to find her belongings.

Nia took the paper off as she wrote the words before reciting them in her mind.

’Duke Felix,

Thank you for your concern. We had reached the Roulux Empire safe and sound but the journey till here was not an easy one. We had to go through a lot of ups and downs and we were even afraid to make it out alive, but by God’s grace we all are well.’

Nia wrote the words as she looked at the bed. She could see Princess Eleanor on the bed, sleeping.

Nia took a deep breath as she continued,

’But with a heavy heart, I would like to inform you that the Princess was seriously injured in the process. We are thankful for the heavens that she was safe and reunited with us but we are yet to find out the culprit.

The Princess is suffering from pain but we know that we have to keep going and reach the Royal Palace soon. But do not worry, the Princess and everyone are safe.

I hope Duke Felix takes care of himself and stays healthy. We will soon meet.’

Nia’s writing paused as she looked at the last line that she wrote. Her eyes were narrowed before she took a deep breath and decided to continue by writing the name of the man she was supposed to use to send the letter.

’Sir Kit.’

Once Nia was done writing the letter she read it again and again. She knew that Sir Kit would be sending this out and did not want to create any problem for him. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Although Nia was angry that Sir Kit had finally asked for a prize for giving her the letter, she knew that he must have done that because Princess Eleanor might have caught his eyes.

Once she made sure that nothing confidential was written in the letter, Nia folded it and kept it on the table before keeping a heavy thing on it. She knew that she needed to give the letter to Sir Kit to get it delivered but she also knew that the sky was about to get dark and she could not go in the tent of a knight at this time.

’I should get dinner for the Princess before I wake her up.’ Nia thought as she decided to go out of the tent unaware that the Princess was awake all along.
