The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 56: I want something
Nia walked towards the tent in a hurry. Her hands had a bowl of hot water but her heart was beating faster.
Nia could imagine what Princess Eleanor was planning to do. Although it felt a bit extreme, but Nia also knew that she wouldn’t be able to push the Princess out of her thoughts.
As Nia walked towards the tent she saw Sir Kit standing outside in deep thoughts. Nia’s leg paused as she took a deep breath and made up her mind to ignore the man when she heard him saying something.
"We got a letter." Sir Kit looked at Princess Eleanor’s lady in waiting who was looking at him with confusion. "It’s from Duke Felix."
Nia was silent before she took a deep breath. She knew that Duke Felix would write her a letter. Although Nia wanted to share her experience with Sir Kit, but she was afraid to ask him. And now that Princess Eleanor was injured there were more reasons to delay her letter.
Nia looked at Sir Kit in hopes that he will give the letter to her but the man stood there as if he had not said any words a few minutes prior.
"The letter?" Nia asked but soon she saw Sir Kit smiling as if he was waiting for her words. A feeling of uneasiness started to make a way in her mind.
"Yes, the letter." Sit Kit took the letter out which he had received as he stared at it. There was a smile on his face as he looked at Nia but still, he did not extend his hand.
"So this is the letter for you, but I want something in return." Sir Kit said.
Nia knew that things would never be this simple. She knew that Sir Kit would be wanting something otherwise who would let one-use their name to write letters so easily. Especially if one is receiving and sending letters to a Duke of another Kingdom.
"And what might that be?" Nia went into self protective mode. She wanted the letter that was in Sir Kit’s hand but she also did not want to show her weaknesses. Nia felt like whatever the man wanted in return would not be good news.
’And how can I trust a man who does not even show his face,’ Nia thought as she took a step back. Her eyes were staring at Sir Kit who had a smile on his face.
"Sir Kit should tell me what he wants in return." Nia smiled as said with a straight face. Anyone who watched her could tell that she was on guard.
Sir Kit chuckled as his eyes sharpened. "What I want is simple. I remember there were some flowers that Princess Eleanor wanted to take with her."
Nia’s ears straightened up. Her body stiffened as her eyes narrowed. She could feel Sir Kit observing her minutely and that made her a little nervous.
Nia’s breath was rapid but soon she took hold of her beating heart and decided to act as normal as possible. "What about them?"
Nia’s eyes sparkled in rage. She bit her lips as she looked at Sir Kit who was yet to say anything. Nia had a bad feeling about the situation and did not know how to rectify it anytime soon. Maybe she was too hasty to catch Sir Kit’s eyes.
"I saw the perfume you made from them, and the smell is quite unique." Sir Kit looked at Nia as he extended the letter towards her. "I would like a bottle too. I have someone to who I would like to gift it."
Nia blinked as she shook her head, "I had to ask Princess Eleanor about it. As you might know, the flowers were grown by her and all the things prepared were for her. Only when Princess Eleanor permits I might be able to give them to you."
"But I hope as Princess Eleanor’s lady in waiting you can manage to get a small vial of that perfume." Sir Kit handed the letter to Nia who extended her hands and received it subconsciously, "Give it to me when we reach the temple. I will be waiting."
Sir Kit did not stay long as he walked out into his own tent, leaving a confused Nia standing with the letter in hand.
Nia looked down at the letter. She could not understand what would happen if she gave the perfume bottle to Sir Kit.
Nia shook her head in denial. Giving the vial out was out of the question. The letter in her hand was clenched as she took a deep breath. Nia felt like the letter in her hand was like a burning flame. It was dying to engulf her in them.
Nia bit her lips as she walked inside the tent as she saw Princess Eleanor sitting on the bed. Her legs were touching the ground. Nia knew that Princess Eleanor was not in a good mood and also knew that the reason behind it might be Sir Kit.
Nia walked towards the Princess as she placed the bowl of water beside her. "Sir Kit gave me this letter," Nia said as she handed the letter to the Princess. Princess Eleanor did not take the letter from her but her lips curled up.
Princess Eleanor looked at Nia as she said in a small tone, "And the cost of this?"
Nia understood the underlying meaning of the words. She was Princess Eleanor’s lady in waiting, making her know the difference in her tone. Nia took a deep breath as she looked at Princess Eleanor, "The cost is high. Sir Kit looks to have taken a liking to the perfume. He wants to have a vial so that he can gift it to someone."
Princess Eleanor laughed as her eyes narrowed, "So he has someone that he wants to give this to? When does he want it?"
Nia blinked a few times before replying, "When we reach the temple."
