The Villainess Married The Evil CEO-Chapter 54: Stop The Car!
Abigail blinked and looked over at Asher, tilting her head. "You asked something?"
Asher’s fingers gripped the steering wheel tighter as he asked once again:
"I asked, where do you want us to go?"
"Oh..." Abigail turned back to the scene outside the window, which was also extremely boring, a wall with only an abstract painting hung on it. "Anywhere."
"Um... I don’t know a place named anywhere. Can you tell me where it is?" Asher chuckled and turned on the engine. "How about I give you a surprise?"
Abigail didn’t reply and continued staring outside the window as if she weren’t the one who would wreak hell and destroy things in anger. Her entire being transformed into a completely different person at the moment, making Asher frown.
What happened to this woman? Was she so depressed that she couldn’t even react?
So he continued his one-man show.
"Can you guess where I’m taking you?"
Asher turned on the engine, still thinking of a plan to keep her mind busy. In his mind, he felt like he only needed to distract her for a while and with his witty mind, he could bring a smile to his face. After all, Asher had been famous among ladies.
They would fall flat on his feet if he spared them a glance. He knew his charisma had worked on this woman. So why couldn’t he bring her to smile?
Thus, he continued gaining a newfound confidence from his own thoughts.
"I’m taking you to an amusement park. Have you been there?" Asher chuckled and said, "I know it sounds cliche, but don’t you think amusement parks can be the best place for dating?"
"Stop the car."
Abigail’s voice sounded cold this time. Even Asher didn’t know what it was that he said wrong. He only took a risk by involving the word ’dating’ there because he wanted to see her reaction.
It turns out... dating was off-limits for now.
Asher took a deep breath and tried reasoning with Abigail. "I was kidding. I only wanted to-"
"I said, stop the car!" Abigail’s voice sounded scary at the moment. Her anger had reached the point that it had a mix of anger and depression, making her look frightening.
She turned toward the man and glanced at him with her red eyes. "I know what you want, but I have zero interest in you. Get it? Of course, I find you attractive, but I’m already married! Stop treating me as a pity case and stop the f*cking car!"
Asher was stunned at those words. His feet abruptly pressed onto the brake as he glanced at her, turning half his body toward the woman.
"Abigail... Let me be clear about something." Since she had already realized his plan, why not come clean and express his real emotions? So he took a deep breath and said, "I admit, I do have feelings for you and I do feel pity on you, but that aside, I genuinely want to take you somewhere else to help you get out of-"
"Stop your f*cking nonsense!" Abigail was so angry that she hit the glass of the window with her hand with such force that a crack appeared on the surface.
Asher felt alarmed in his heart as his eyes widened. "Abigail!"
"Stop caring about me, and stop making me confused!" Abigail only wanted to get away from this person. Facing Asher made her feel even more depressed as she questioned herself why she had to marry that rude man in the first place! "Get away from my eyes!"
Then she opened the door and got out without even sparing the man a single glance. At the moment, she didn’t know where exactly she was, but she hardly cared. Even if things get worse, the most that could happen is death.
Did she care about dying? She had been having such thoughts for a long time anyway! Why not quicken the process and get rid of her terrible mood swings once and for all?!
Abigail looked at the side and found she was already on a bridge.
Perfect.
Even her destiny wanted her to jump off and kill herself! It’s not like anyone would care about her even if she jumped off. Everyone around her always cared about their own emotions, not her. So why should she continue to stand around like a fool?
She should reciprocate for sure. Since they only wanted to be selfish, let her be the same for once.
Thus, she walked toward the railings and glanced down.
Beneath the bridge, a lively river surged with water flowing forcefully. The current raced so swiftly that anything falling into it would either be swept away or meet a dreadful end colliding with the rocks.
Her gaze stuck to the flowing river as if entranced. A moment later, she finally got enough courage as she gripped the railing slightly and jumped to the other side.
By this time, even Asher had rushed over as his eyes widened. It was just that he was a step late. He watched in horror as the woman finally let go of her hands, stretching it wide as she fell into the river.
"Abigail!" Asher’s heart sank deeper as he ran fast and jumped after her.
The cold air hit his face hard as he jumped. Those moments he spent in the air while falling seemed to be so big that he almost felt like an eternity had passed.
Why did she jump?
Had she become so depressed that she only felt ending her life was the only way?
If... If that were the case, he would talk to Nicholas. He would make him forcibly fall in love with Abigail. That should stop her from jumping off a bridge like this, right?
Asher’s heart felt like it was being twisted into something as a hint of pain thrashed about his chest. That was the moment his entire body collided with the river.
When he entered the water, he rushed against the flow, desperate to find that woman. Good thing he could swim. So, he easily avoided obstacles and continued onward.
Finally, he found her, still body floating lifelessly as if she had given up her will to live. Alarmed, he quickly swam toward her. But the moment he reached her, he realized she was bleeding.
His heart sank even more.
