He finally stopped and realized that Abigail was acting strangely. He quickly held her by her shoulders and turned to face him. "You... What happened?"

"...." Abigail didn’t want to bother with this person anymore. Her mood was off, and she didn’t want to talk at all.

Couldn’t they just leave her be?

She looked at him with a kind of gaze that felt like she was blaming him for something. Asher frowned upon seeing that.

"Did I do something wrong?" Asher became slightly anxious as he said, "Do you feel bad because your husband didn’t pick up the call? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he contacts you! He’s your husband, after all. Shouldn’t he care about you even a single bit? Wait a minute. I’ll scold that cousin of mine first and drag him to you, okay? Let’s get you home."

He moved, but the lady continued to stand there, sniffing. She looked at the space where he was standing earlier with a blank expression on her face. Her entire being screamed ’depression’ to him.

What just happened?

Hadn’t she been fine just a moment ago?

Was she that depressed because her husband didn’t care about her?

Asher’s heart sank to the bottom of the ocean, seeing her condition. A misunderstanding sprouted in his heart at this point.

Abigail had probably fallen in love with his cousin so deep that his indifference shattered her heart to dust. Should he still continue to break the couple apart? She was deeply in love with the man.

But when Asher remembered how his cousin treated Abigail, his fist clenched. He would make sure to win this woman’s heart once and for all! He would definitely take better care of her than that cousin of his!

Abigail didn’t realize that her action of not deciding to return to the house only fueled Asher’s determination. She was standing there, staring into the space as her hands trembled.

She didn’t even know why she was crying. Probably because of her husband?

That had to be it. After all, that man never even spared her a glance in the first place.

But it wasn’t enough to make her depressed like hell. Even Rosa ignored her. This fact made Abigail feel worse than worse. This was the first time she had reached her depressive episode so fast.

She took a deep breath and tried to control her emotions but couldn’t. Her thoughts scattered, but her heart continued to sink deeper and deeper. Even her working brain that churned logical thoughts stopped working.

During this depressive state, she would stay emotionally vulnerable to everything happening in her life. And she didn’t even have any medicines on her.

That thought made her more anxious.

She finally squatted on the ground and put her trembling hands on her face, trying to hide her teary face. Just then, she felt someone’s hands on her shoulder as a gentle voice finally drifted to her ears:

"Abigail, I’m here. Don’t be afraid."

Abigail finally removed her hands and looked at the man with tear-filled eyes. Her heart thumped in her chest as she continued to stare.

Finally, her lips parted as she spoke: "You... What did you just say?"

Her voice had turned hoarse in such a short amount of time because of all the crying she did.

Asher’s eyes softened as he said, "I said no matter what happens, I’ll be there if you need me."

Abigail quickly lowered her head. Her heart seemed to have stabilized quickly, but she still couldn’t escape her depressive state. Her mind was in chaos, not letting her think rationally.

At the moment, she didn’t want to see Nicholas. If she did, she knew she would either kill herself or murder him brutally in a fit of depressive emotions.

But where else could she go?

She swallowed and tried to gulp down the choking emotion that was seated in her throat.

"I... I don’t want to go."

Even though she whispered her words and those words were vague, Asher understood. Of course, it was again a misunderstanding. He felt like Abigail had finally realized she couldn’t trust and continue to be with Nicholas anymore.

Should he take her away to another country where his business was located?

His gaze narrowed as a smile formed on his lips. "Sure. You don’t have to go back. In fact, I would like to take you on a vacation. How about it?"

Ordinarily, Abigail would have refused on the grounds of being a cousin-in-law to Asher. She didn’t want to make things difficult between them and make her marriage suffer. Despite finding Asher attractive, Nicholas was the one she had married first.

So she would stay with the man until he kicked her out deliberately on his own.

But right now, she wasn’t in her right mind. At the moment, all Abigail wanted was to forget about Nicholas so she could suffer less. So she nodded.

Thus, Asher pulled the woman up and decided to really take a vacation with just the two of them. Not that he wanted to steal her away from her husband... Just who was he kidding? Of course, he wanted to take advantage of this situation when Nicholas deliberately pushed his wife away and sent her to his door.

How could he not aspire to steal her heart away?

He wanted to make Abigail see who was better husband material for her!

As he was thinking, they finally went to his car as he opened the door to the passenger seat, looking at the woman walking behind him with a smile.

"C’mon. Sit."

Abigail glanced at the passenger seat with a blank expression on her face and lowered her head, walking there without a single word. She sat there like an obedient student who was terribly sad because of her low grades.

Asher looked at her expressions and silently felt worried.

What else should he do to stop her from thinking about that damned husband of hers?

He took a deep breath as he suppressed the traces of anxiety in his heart and continued to push his lips to smile. Despite everything, he would have to keep her thoughts busy thinking of something else.

So he sat on his side and turned toward Abigail, asking, "So, where do you want to go?"
