Chapter 94: Ch 94: Uninvited Guests- Part 3

"Kyle, what are we looking for here exactly? If you tell me, then I can help you find it."

Kuro asked me in a casual voice, but his sharp eyes kept looking around to focus on monsters and keep them away.

Truthfully, this was a weighted question for me because even I did not know what I was looking for beyond the way to close this dungeon.

"For now, let’s look for a way to close this dungeon gate. We can think about anything else... later... Kuro, dodge-!"

My body moved on its own, and before I knew it, I was blocking the attack meant for Kuro. Kuro yelped as he was pushed back, but he quickly got on his feet to give me a startled look.

But my attention was focused on Rhiner’s face in front of me, who looked equally startled.

"A-Ace... you are..."

The A-class hunter looked startled when I stopped his attack, and I pushed him back. But unfortunately, he was not alone, and someone pushed past me quickly.

"Helping monsters in this dungeon? Oh my-! How the mighty have fallen. But don’t worry, because I am here to take care of the situation."

The female who ran past me told me as she raised her mace to attack Kuro.

"Kuro, dodge-"

"Kesha, be careful-"

Both I and Rhiner spoke at the same time, but the female Beta hunter was not listening to us. She continued her attack.

Luckily for Kuro, he was a little too adapted at fighting, and he managed to turn his body into black mass and escape the female.

"Tsk, where do you think you are going-"

She complained, only to see a jellyfish floating in front of her. That startled her enough to take a step back.

"A... familiar? Darn it, who would-"

The female started to speak, only for me to stand between her and Kuro.

"That is enough. I will give you a last warning to back down. If you ignore me once more, then the consequence won’t be pretty for you, lady."

I told her as Kuro also stood behind me. The female looked at me with a pissed expression.

"Huh-? How could you of all people say that, Ace? Don’t you realize that you are giving shelter to a monster behind you? Or... maybe the years spent in the S-class dungeon changed you, and now you are a monster sympathizer."

Kesha asked me in a taunting voice. I could tell that the Beta did not like me.

I did not know the reason behind this, but I did know one thing— I had no reason to sit here and take her bullshit.

Before I could answer her, Kuro tensed up behind me, and he tugged at my sleeve.

"Kyle, the high priestess is heading this way. We should run away while we still have a chance to do so."

Kuro told me, and I sighed before I looked at the pair in front of me.

"Look, you are free to think what you want. But for now, we need to get out of here because it is not safe here. So follow me if you want to stay alive." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

My words sounded cold and distant. The two hunters in front of me exchanged a look, almost as if agreeing to keep an eye on me.

But I had no time to care for them because even I could feel the high priestess’s aura now. And it did not feel good to sense her.

Something about her aura screamed... satisfaction... and the bloody kind at that.

"Alright. Tell us where we need to head to for now, Ace. As per your orders, the only other people who entered are Lee Minho, Lynn, and Edward. Shall we go find them now?"

The Alpha asked, and I nodded.

As much as I did not want other hunters in this dungeon because of its dangers, I also knew that it was an impossible request to ask of them.

So I could only regroup with them and come up with a plan for now.

"Let’s go and find the others. Do you know where they are?"

I asked, and Kesha gave me a superior look.

"Hmph-! I don’t know where the other losers are, but I at least know where Lynn is. I don’t want to guide you, but I shall do that just this once."

The female told me as she rushed toward the direction she had chosen.

Rhiner looked tired as he watched her leave before he signaled for us to follow her. Kuro and I did the same.

However, just because I moved, I sensed someone looking at me with intense eyes. The gaze seemed to be falling on me from rather afar.

But I chose not to pay attention to that gaze and focus on my current mission first.

________

Far away, the high priestess looked at the ’special human’ their lord had bestowed his favor upon, and she watched him and his dear friends struggle in the dungeon.

"H-High Priestess, the humans have entered the dungeon. What should we do about that?"

A monster asked, looking at the high priestess with tense eyes. He was not the only one to do so either.

All the other monsters looked tense and looked at her for guidance.

But the high priestess just chuckled at their worry. She was confident in her powers and her lord’s decision, so she did not want to do anything he had not asked of her.

"For now, leave them be. We have more important things to worry about. Like the ritual to help revive our lord. Let us..."

She was not done speaking when the crystal ball in front of her lit up, and her senses told her that she had a message from her lord. She signaled for everyone to be quiet so that she could receive that message.

"M-My Lord, I am honored that you are speaking to me like this. Please, tell me what I can do for you."

The female stuttered as she tried to get her words out. But there was silence on the other side.

The monsters looked in shock as the high priestess received the message from their lord. She was the only one who seemed to be able to hear him.

"Ah, I see. If that’s what you want, then that’s what we shall do for you. Your will shall be carried out."

The female told their lord, and everyone waited for her to convey what their lord had said to them.

Once she was done, the female put the crystal ball down and turned toward her subjects.

"Alright everyone, there is a change in plan— we are no longer going to avoid humans and hide. Our lord has told us that we are free to do what we want to the humans as long as we do not harm the one who carries his mark."

The high priestess told the monsters, and they all looked stunned by her words.

But slowly, they all began to look confident and cheer.

"Go and make our lord proud. And once we have taken care of the humans, the fertility festival shall start again, and more of us shall be born to serve our lord."
