Chapter 93: Ch 93: Uninvited Guests- Part 2

"I... there is security in numbers...?"

The hunter tried to justify his actions once more but it was clear that he had run out of excuses to speak of.

I sighed and gestured toward the gate they had entered from.

"You all should return for now. If you truly need to send anyone to help me out, then send someone like Edward or Lynn at least. I am not belittling your ability, but this dungeon is truly too dangerous."

I told the people around me and they finally realized that I was not joking around with them. I was as serious as I could get.

Unfortunately for these people, as soon as they finished speaking with me and turned to head back home, the portal that connected them to this world closed. We were all locked in here for the time being.

"O-Oh god-! W-We are trapped in here. W-What should we do-!"

The leader asked as he tried to wave his hand around the invisible portal in hopes of finding the exit.

"Don’t worry about the portal. For now, just wait here and the portal will appear once more. This happens from time to time in a high-class dungeon."

The group felt safe listening to my words and it made me even more certain that these people were not fit to be in this dungeon.

Fortunately, most of these people did not seem the type to cause trouble. Unfortunately, they were all low-level fodder that would not survive an encounter.

So it was now my duty to stay with them and ensure their safety.

"First of all, you all need to make a report that you are here and will head back as soon as the portal allows you to."

I told the hunters and they all nodded before they took out a security camera from their inventory.

"We will record ourselves in here to make sure the outside world knows what is going on. Don’t worry, Ace. We will make sure to crop you out. We understand that you need your privacy."

At least these hunters had enough decency to crop me out and I allowed them to do as they wished. After all, I did not want them to cause any more trouble and this seemed like the best way to keep them in check.

"Alright, you do that. I will go and take another look around."

I told the small group but a part of me felt like I should not leave them alone in such a dangerous place.

But if I stayed back, I would be wasting precious time that I could be spending investigating. The two sides inside me fought with each other, not knowing what to do next.

The other hunters noticed how I had not left yet and exchanged a look before turning toward me.

"Hunter Ace, we will be just fine. We will keep streaming ourselves to the live audience so you do not need to worry about anything. Please, feel free to head out now."

The hunters told me and I sighed before I headed toward the deeper parts of the dungeon. I turned toward the group I was leaving behind one last time before I was off.

The group waved to me as they watched me go before they all settled down, and that was the last of them I ever saw.

________

"Oh wow-! I never thought I would ever get to see Hunter Ace so close up. The imposter fails in comparison, right?"

"Not only that, but Hunter Ace is so... I can’t explain how to voice it. But something about him makes me want to protect him."

"Hey, do you think we caused him trouble by coming in here? Why did we come in here? I don’t even remember."

The hunters settled down once Ace had walked away and they tried to calm themselves down. It was most of their first time in a high-class dungeon and they were already faced with a difficulty.

"Don’t worry so much. I am sure we will be just fine."

Their leader spoke with confidence as he addressed both his fellow hunters as well as his audience. The number seemed to be growing by the second and he felt happy to know that so many people were watching. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"For now, we should look around a little as well and see if we can find anything to help. As long as we don’t go too far, it should be fine, right?"

The leader asked and the group looked unsure.

Hunter Ace had told them to stay put, so that was what they wanted to do. But their leader also had a point.

It was not like they would ever be coming to such a high-class dungeon again. So why not contribute a little bit to the development of the hunter world?

"A-Alright! We should look around a little."

One of the hunters agreed and then another and then another until they all agreed. But just as they stood up to walk around, they felt a shiver go down their spine.

The hunters’ channel also went wild as they saw a small body walk toward the hunters on the screen.

"Oh my-! We have so many guests from outside. You will make a good source of nutrition for our young ones. I was honestly worried about that. But it seems our lord has taken it upon himself to resolve this."

The female voice spoke and the charm in her voice caused the dozen hunters to pause and blink at her.

She was just... too charming... despite her obviously inhuman nature. But there was little they could do to resist her.

"W-Who are you?"

The leader managed to break her charm for a minute and ask that question. But the female just walked over to him and placed her hand on top of his eyes.

"You do not need to worry about any of that. Just let yourself relax and go to sleep. Once you wake up... well, you are not going to wake up anymore, so there is no point in thinking about it."

The high priestess told them all before darkness took over their senses. Even the orb that transmitted their signal got cut off and the outside world panicked.

They had never seen a humanoid-shaped monster before — and especially not one that could talk like this one did.

Unlike humans, the high priestess seemed more interested in the device she was holding. It had a weird energy, but it felt kind of like their lord’s.

But a little different at the same time. It made her curious to know more about humans and for the first time, she felt like she actively wanted to seek out humans and know more about them.

"High priestess, we are ready for the next ceremony. Also, the couple you told us to keep an eye on... we lost them. What should we do?"

The demons she was helping asked her but the high priestess was not concerned about that at all. Her only concern was the orders of their lord.

"Hmm, they had our lord’s protection, so leave them be. For now, focus on the main ceremony. We shall empower our lord and help him safely awaken."
