The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 92: Ch : Uninvited Guests- Part 1
"My lady, we are from the dungeon that recently lost its high priest. I am sure humans called it as... dungeon #36. We managed to escape into the human world and now make our way back to our lord’s grace."
Kuro told the high priestess and her eyes narrowed.
She seemed to be trying to find lies in Kuro’s words but found none. After all, what Kuro had said was the truth... if only regarding himself.
"Very well. It seems that our lord has given you the opportunity to bask in his favor. So who am I to deny you his favor either? Come inside and rejoice in our lord’s grace."
The high priestess extended her hand and Kuro placed his own in hers and was tugged over to the pedestal.
I was left behind and the look Kuro gave me told me that I should stay close to him at all costs.
"You have lost a lot, so I shall give you pair a special privilege. You shall be granted a bundle of joy..."
"High priestess, I don’t think we are ready for that. My mission from my lord is a different one."
Kuro interjected before the high priestess could touch me and grant me a ’bundle of joy’. Relief filled me at Kuro’s intervention and I let out a sigh of relief at being spared.
"Oh-! Is that so? Let me see... you truly do have the mark of our lord, so I have no reason to doubt you. In that case, welcome to our world, dear guests. Please stay for as long as you want."
The high priestess concluded with us both and Kuro dragged me back discreetly. He had made sure to keep all attention on himself so that I wouldn’t be questioned by anyone.
Once we were back in the crowd, Kuro let out a relieved sigh and then turned back toward me.
"Hey-! Are you alright? The high priestess’s power did not do anything to you, right?"
Kuro’s panic seemed genuine and I was taken aback by him. But I quickly focused on myself, only to find nothing.
"I am fine. I don’t think the high priest ever touched me with her power. And even if she did, you should not worry that much. I am not fragile at all. I can handle it."
I told Kuro but he looked frustrated.
"That is not the point here. I just... never mind. What happens to me is for our lord to decide so what point is there to even worry about it?"
Kuro huffed and I felt a laugh bubbling in my throat. But I suppressed it and decided to focus on our next mission.
"So, what should we do next? You encountered the high priest. Do you want to confront her? Now would not be a good time to do that though."
Kuro told me and I had to agree with him. There were too many demons in sight. But more so, I could feel the demonic energy coming off the high priestess in waves.
This fight wouldn’t be easy. And in the high priestess’s domain, it would genuinely be unwinnable.
"Let’s try to find the dungeon core and destroy it. That would be the safest way for us and these demons to survive."
I told Kuro and he sighed in relief at my lack of action.
"Alright, got it."
Kuro told me and followed after me. As I walked, my eyes fell on the hunters’ system that was going off with questions and posts aimed at me.
They were all wondering when I would reply to them and give them an update regarding the situation.
So I typed them a message.
[The dungeon is stable for now. The monsters show no sign of aggression. If you enter, do not engage and only observe for now. I will keep you posted.]
I could have chosen to tell the people about the dungeon and its repopulation, but I decided to hide that fact for now.
Humans were easy to panic and would likely take the news I gave them the wrong way. There was no need to cause mass panic for now.
My comment made the people stop for a minute before thousands of replies fired off at the same time.
Everyone wanted to ask me questions and I was not able to keep up.
But I did pick up on Lynn’s reply in the forums and replied to that one. He was asking me whether I wanted help or not.
[Do not send anyone in here. I am still observing but the monsters seem to have no intention of engaging with humans. We might be able to close the dungeon off without fighting the boss.]
Not that any of us had any chance at the high priestess. Based on the track record thus far, we would all fail anyway.
My words caused another wave of motion before I felt the presence of other hunters in the dungeon.
"Tsk, those idiots. I clearly told them to stay out of here. Why are they... ugh, we need to go and stop them before they cause any trouble."
I told Kuro as I headed toward the dungeon. Kuro looked frustrated as well before he gave me a look.
"What did you write to bring these humans here?... never mind-! I guess I do not want to know after all. I can already guess what you wrote— you told them to stay out, right? But these humans took it as a challenge."
Kuro was right and I felt foolish for thinking that everyone would agree with my words and choose to stay out.
Humans were... just foolish like that and there was no other explanation for their desire to end their lives like this.
I found the entrance easily and a dozen or so hunters had entered. They saw me first and immediately rushed toward us.
"A-Ace-! We are here. I know your post said not to come, but we could decipher the real meaning of your words. You were silently asking for support, right?"
The leader of the small team asked me and I could see an imaginary tail wagging behind him. His sudden cheerful look made me want to strangle him.
I immediately rubbed my forehead to get rid of the headache I was beginning to develop because of what just happened.
"You... when did I ask you to come in? I clearly told you all to stay out of here. It looks like the literacy rate went down in the time I was not present in the hunter’s society. Hurry up and get out of here."
I told the group and they all suddenly had a flushed face. It seemed as if they had realized their mistake and now felt speechless.
The leader still tried to save face though.
"B-But, won’t you rather have some help? Surely even someone as great as you cannot investigate solo in this dungeon? The more hands you have, the better it would be for you, right?"
The man asked and I sighed before I gently placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Even if I do need help, do you think you would be that help? If there is something even I cannot handle, what makes you think you can handle it?"
