Chapter 256: Foul Mouth

"Okay, girls, the lecture is canceled! Let’s greet the little prince. I haven’t seen him yet so, I’ll go ahead, bye!" Lexi exclaimed and was gone in a blink of an eye. She used her werewolf speed to leave everyone in the library and go to Elandir with Rocco.

Meanwhile, earlier in the Assembly Hall...

Chris arrived in the assembly hall early but the council was not in full attendance when he came in making him frown but not disappointed... He expected that.

"Where are the rest?" Hoven asked the first person his eyes came in contact with.

"I don’t know as well, Hoven," one of the elders said.

"Alright, let’s wait for a while. I asked the cook to prepare a delicious breakfast for everyone today. I haven’t eaten anything yet since I came straight here as soon as I wake up."

The elders who were present in the room smiled when the servants brought in the mouth-watering dishes that Chris requested from the royal cook.

Everyone ate happily and they all loved every single dish that was served.

Despite the time they spent finishing their food, some of the elders still didn’t arrive and Chris was done waiting.

"Close the door..." Chris ordered the guard as he walked to the seat reserved for the King. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"I beg your pardon, Your Majesty?" the royal guard said.

"I said, close the door."

"But Your Majesty, some of the elders are not here yet," the royal guard retorted.

"I can see that... And I said, close the door..." Chris tried to say it calmly.

"B-But–"

"Who is your King? Me or them? Close it or get out!" Chris lost it and shouted at the reluctant guard.

The two royal guards quickly closed the door and stayed in front of it.

But the door opened once again in just a few seconds and the other elders went in.

"Your Majesty, we heard you shouting from the hallway. We apologize for the delay, we didn’t know you’d be on time since your uncle was always late. So, we took our time to come here," the elder said.

Chris rolled his eyes, fully knowing that it was a complete lie, and said, "Fine, let’s start this meeting. I have so many other important things to do after this."

"Are you saying that this meeting is not important?" the same elder asked.

"Yes, I think this unnecessary since we will have our first official meeting after the coronation so why do we have to meet before it? You are all wasting my time. I could have spent this hour checking on our troops and doing my other important tasks in managing the kingdom. Don’t you have other things to do with your lives?" Chris uttered sternly.

Hoven pressed his lips together to stop himself from smiling at the shocked faces of the elders at how straightforward Chris’ words were.

In the past, the previous kings spoke with the elders with filtered words and maintained a decorous behavior, but their new King is the exact opposite of all the kings added together.

The elders were so stunned at how bold their new king spoke that they were not able to speak right away. And when they did, Chris was prepared for it.

"Your Majesty, I think you shouldn’t be that rude to us. We only want what’s best for Arcanis."

"Best for Arcanis or best for yourselves?" Chris scoffed before he continued. "I informed you of my arrival the moment I came back, it should have already given you enough time to think of things.

But when I returned the second time, what did you do? You brushed off my request to claim my right as the rightful heir to the throne and chose my uncle instead. To make it worse, you threw in the trash the plans that my father laid out and the sacrifices I made for the kingdom.

I risked my life chasing after the princess of Zemaria in another world just to gain their support so we could protect our people from the Saldivar and Kurzen. And what did you all do? You embraced the witches and demons, let them rule over our land, terrorize our people, and drive them away from their homeland.

So tell me, why should I be nice to you? To anyone of you? Each and every one of you remained here while the citizens of Arcanis fled to Zemaria and Vrenada for protection. What did you do to protect and save them?

This council was created a long time ago to always put first the welfare of the citizens of Arcanis if ever the king would make bad decisions or if the ruler became a tyrant. With all of the members that this council has, the witches and demons shouldn’t have infiltrated our kingdom.

You were all called elders because of your life experiences, critical thinking, and wise judgment. But with what I saw I can confidently say that this council is useless, you are all brainless cowards!"

Chris’ alpha voice roared in the assembly hall, and his eyes turned red, causing everyone to shudder in fear including Hoven.

"Your Majesty, you have to understand that we have no choice! King Alaric and Queen Yvonne threatened us, that’s why we allowed things to happen that way."

"My King, we have families too and we were only protecting them."

"King Christopher, it was against our will to bow down to your uncle and the witch queen, you cannot judge us because of that."

The elders continued pouring out their reasons and excuses while Chris listened to them but obviously not buying it. He just let them talk and talk knowing that eventually they will get tired. But he has another purpose for letting them speak out.

"Hoven... You heard them right?" Chris asked, causing everyone to look at Hoven who nodded at Chris.

"Good, so you also heard how incompetent they are and not fit to be in the council. I think we should abolish this council and create a new one. A council that also includes young ones so we could get fresh ideas and eliminate cowardice.

I also think that letting she-wolves be a member of the council will greatly help out the kingdom and perhaps that the new council will make better decisions next time something like this happens. What do you think High Lord Steward?"

"I absolutely agree, Your Majesty," Hoven tersely replied with a smirk.

However, one elder laughed loudly, grabbing the attention of everyone in the hall.

"Women? New Council? The king must be insane! You haven’t been coronated and yet you act like you own everything in Arcanis!" One of the elders said sarcastically.

"Perhaps marrying a human, a hybrid human shifter made him submit to her that’s why he had lost his mind!" another elder said.

"Show your respect to the King!" Hoven yelled, he was more angry than the king himself. Chris just smirked and once again let them voice out their anger.

He wanted to hear what they had in mind and allow their emotions to let them make bad decisions.

"You will also respect our Queen. She’s part of Arcanis now whether you like it or not!" Hoven yelled once more. But the elders are not willing to listen to him.

"We will never bow down to a mere human whose father must be a bird or something for her to have feathered wings like those of birds!"

"If the king is saying that we are an incompetent council and so is he! He was not able to secure his marriage to Princess Hera on time and everything that had happened resulted from that just because he let a bird shifter fuck his betrothed! A weird shifter will never be our queen!"

*SLAP!*

The elder who last spoke was startled at the slap that he received when no one was there. It was a sharp wind that hit his face so strong that it made his head turn to the side.

The sound of the slap was loud enough for everyone to hear, so they looked left and right to see where it came from.

"Tsk tsk tsk, such a foul mouth you have... It was so nasty that it needed a good slap. But I think it deserves more than a slap. What do think Rocco?" Elsa uttered as soon as she entered the opened door and tickled Rocco on his side causing the little boy to giggle loudly.

His laughter was so contagious that it even made some of the complaining elders smile.

Elsa looked at Chris who was so pale as if he had seen a ghost and it made Elsa chuckle for she could also feel how nervous he was as he stared at their son.

Elsa slowly walks up to Chris while carrying Rocco and she never tears her gaze at him. She saw how his eyes became watery while staring at their son, fully mesmerized by the little boy in her arms.
