Star Odyssey-Chapter 4188: Life-Saving Methods
Another cauldron appeared above Hui’s head. This cauldron was different from those of the Ninesuns Cauldron Transformation, and it radiated an indescribable, solemn majesty. When it appeared, it felt as if not just the megaverse, but rather the entire Aevum Inch was collapsing before their eyes.
Dominion. The word suddenly appeared in Lu Yin’s mind.
As Greater Sancte Green Lotus had said, the cosmic law that Mister Mu aligned with was Dominion. He dominated time, the void, all of existence, and the cosmos itself. The omniverse contained everything, so once one resonated with the cosmic law of Dominion, no matter how powerful a being might be or how much time passed, everything could be dominated.
That was Dominion.
The cauldron fell, overwhelming Hui.
The silver figure raised one hand to slam into the descending cauldron, and yet Hui’s body was forced down. It was as if they were reduced in size as silver sloughed off. Hui could not believe it. How could resonating with a cosmic law make one so strong? Of course, the power was also due to the fact that Mister Mu had not relied on a megaverse being reset for his breakthrough. He had become an Immortal entirely through his own power.
He was a true Immortal, one whose path had no predetermined ceiling.
Hui raised their right arm and slashed the silver sword into the cauldron, shattering it with a single blow.
Mister Mu’s face turned deathly pale. He was unquestionably strong, and he certainly surpassed ordinary Immortals like Ku Deng from the moment of his breakthrough. However, their opponent was Hui, a top-tier expert who belonged to Obscura. Even in a weakened state, Hui was not an opponent that Mister Mu could defeat on his own at this moment.
Lu Yin teleported in front of Hui, his eyes glued to the silver silhouette. “Master, leave the rest to me.”
Lifeforce surged from Hui’s body, merging with Obscura’s violent energy to create billowing waves of silver mist that pressed down upon Lu Yin with crushing force. “You are courting death!”
The silver sword chopped down from above, yet Hui’s eyes kept flicking over to Greater Sancte Awe Gate and Mister Mu. They were searching for an opening to escape.
They were being besieged by four opponents with the strength of Immortals; it would be foolish for Hui not to run.
Lu Yin suddenly ended his divine energy transformation. He looked up and opened his hand as the silver sword came slashing down. “Come out, Aberrant.”
A scythe appeared and rose up to meet the sword.
Bang.
The tremendous impact sent Lu Yin staggering back several steps. His body repeatedly withered and recovered. On his own, he was not able to endure the pressure from Hui, though the silver being did not feel good either.
Hui had also retreated a step. Their silver body suddenly bulged. What is this?
They stared at the scythe in Lu Yin’s hand. Just now... was that Activeness?
Before Hui could consider the matter further, Lu Yin clenched the scythe’s shaft and slashed out again. He had held Aberrant back for this exact moment. If the weapon had been used from the very beginning, Hui would have been on guard against it. However, Hui’s strength had already been reduced by more than half. Even if they were on guard, so what? This was a true Aberrant.
The silver sword blocked the scythe again, and this time, Hui clearly felt Activeness surging into their body, forcing them to retreat once more. “What is this?”
“Its name is Aberrant. You’d better watch out, as it doesn’t play by the rules.” Lu Yin laughed loudly. The scythe kept slashing about. Sometimes, Hui was able to parry with the silver sword, and at other times, they dodged. Every impact drove more Activeness into Hui’s body. No one wanted to endure Activeness that came from a cosmic law.
In the distance, Mister Mu exhaled while watching in a daze. What has this child gone through? It’s as if he has mastered every kind of power.
“Mister Mu, get ready to take action whenever needed. Even with Aberrant, it will be hard for Lu Yin to kill Hui,” Greater Sancte Awe Gate reminded.
Mister Mu nodded. “Alright.”
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
The clash of the two weapons echoed across the universe. Hui’s body continued to swell up. It wasn’t just the impacts that sent Activeness into their body; simply getting close to Lu Yin was doing the same thing. Hui could endure the influx of Activeness , but only by suppressing the foreign energy with their own power.
This meant that they needed to suppress the invading Activeness to avoid exploding while also dealing with Lu Yin.
No wonder he calls that thing Aberrant. This is like fighting against two on my own.
Bang.
Another powerful collision saw Hui shoving Lu Yin away while turning to flee. Unfortunately, there was no gap to slip through. Kang Tian threw a spatial mire directly in Hui’s path. The silver being tried to break through the snail, but while Kang Tian was not capable of powerful attacks, its defenses were exceptional. It forced itself to endure Hui’s slash without retreating, though Kang Tian certainly did not dare to take multiple such blows.
Seizing that opening, Lu Yin’s scythe swept across, nearly severing Hui in two.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate and Mister Mu struck as one. One swallowed the slash of Hui’s sword with gates, while the other ended Hui’s escape attempt by locking space with Origin Tracer.
Hui darted about like a trapped rat. They were a member of Obscura; when had they ever been pushed into such a miserable position?
But no matter how much power Hui erupted with, they could not escape. All of their methods had been seen through long ago.
Hui’s eyes kept flitting about, from Lu Yin, to Mister Mu, and then to the surroundings. They were hunting for a chance to flee.
Mister Mu stared at Hui. “You cannot escape. This megaverse’s hatred should be put to rest today.”
Hui shot a cold glare at Mister Mu. “This was only a civilization with a single megaverse. Get your revenge, and all that awaits you and your new civilization will be Obscura’s retaliation.
“You have no idea how strong Obscura truly is.”
Lu Yin tightened his grip on his scythe. “Then tell us how strong.”
The silver that was Hui’s body was no longer as bright as it had been. It had grown dull and lifeless. “I did not want to join Obscura, but I also did not dare to try to run. The Aevum Inch is endless and vast, and yet I still did not dare to attempt to flee. That was because Obscura would surely find me one day.
“You are no different. No one can escape Obscura’s pursuit.
“You may have encountered fishing civilizations before, but Obscura is no ordinary fishing civilization. You are doomed. Kill me, and you doom yourselves.”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate sneered. “We already killed Qi Xu. Do you really think that we wouldn’t dare?”
Hui suddenly hurled the drum from their back. A drumbeat thundered louder and more abruptly than the drum ever had before.
Lu Yin and the others again froze in place. The same feeling as before was back. The Drum-Sound Realm had reappeared.
Mister Mu stared at the drum. This time, the Drum-Sound Realm had not appeared because of Hui, but rather because of the drum’s own power. Hui was effectively abandoning the mirebound artifact.
All beings remained completely motionless, but Hui used the cosmic law that they resonated with: Motion. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
This time, the Drum-Sound Realm appeared after Mister Mu’s breakthrough. Lu Yin kept teleporting, moving Greater Sancte Awe Gate, Mister Mu, and Kang Tian away from where they had been standing. They all vanished from the megaverse, arriving in the Aevum Inch.
The megaverse erupted in destruction, but only Hui remained within it.
“It used this to force us out so it could hide inside that silver coffin. It wants to escape with it,” Greater Sancte Awe Gate stated.
Lu Yin frowned. That silver coffin was indeed a problem. He had no way to break its defenses.
“Senior Awe Gate, do you have any way to break into that coffin?”
Greater Sancte Awe Gate shook her head. “Nothing.”
Lu Yin looked back at Mister Mu.
The man was currently staring at the megaverse with a conflicted expression. It was his homeland, the place all of his family and old companions had died. This battle had repeatedly ravaged the megaverse. There was no question that seeing this had to be hard on Mister Mu.
Lu Yin remained silent.
If he saw the Tianyuan being ravaged in such a manner, even after everyone he cared about had died, he would feel the same anguish.
Soon, the destruction of the Drum-Sound Realm subsided.
They reentered the megaverse. Sure enough, Hui had hidden themselves inside the silver coffin. The drum was shattered. A perfectly good mirebound artifact had been utterly destroyed.
Hui lay inside the silver coffin, staring at Lu Yin and the others with chillingly calm eyes.
Lu Yin and the others surrounded the silver coffin and began to attack it, but it would not budge.
If Greater Sancte Green Lotus were present, things would be different. While his Karmic Heavenwheel had not completely shattered Lan Meng’s coffin with one strike, it had left the imprint of a finger on it. Another strike might have shattered it.
Since Lan Meng’s coffin could be broken, then so could Hui’s.
“Your human civilization will eventually be destroyed as well! Just wait,” Hui threatened, their voice low and dripping with killing intent.
Lu Yin looked at them. “Do you think that you’ll be able to get away?”
“We can just drag the coffin back,” Greater Sancte Awe Gate announced.
Hui sneered but said nothing more. Light flared from the silver coffin. Lu Yin and the others’ heads snapped around, as another place had lit up at the same moment: Obscura’s gate.
The gate flickered with a silver light that echoed the glow of the coffin.
The two lights connected instantly, and the silver coffin started flying towards the gate.
“Not good! Sever the link!” Lu Yin teleported to the gate and chopped down with his scythe. He cleaved the void, and even time itself paused, but the connection of silver light remained untouched.
Greater Sancte Awe Gate, Mister Mu, and Kang Tian all attacked as well, but none of them could sever the connection.
The silver coffin continued flying towards the gate.
They all attacked the silver coffin again, and Greater Sancte Awe Gate even placed her own gates between the coffin and the gate, but the connecting beam seemed to be in a different dimension. It was impossible to affect it.
Hui watched them with schadenfreude in their eyes. This was one of Obscura’s life-saving methods. How could it be overcome so easily?
“Senior, did Qi Xu ever use this method?” Lu Yin asked Greater Sancte Awe Gate.
She shook her head. “I don’t know. I wasn’t there.”
Lu Yin stared at the silver coffin streaking through space, his expression falling.
It was likely that Qi Xu had not used it due to Greater Sancte Green Lotus being present.
While killing Qi Xu had come at the cost of Greater Sancte Mi Jin’s life, that was because he alone had been able to deal with Qi Xu. However, the coffins were different. Greater Sancte Green Lotus absolutely would have been able to destroy the coffin.
Also, there were no signs of damage anywhere on the red coffin.
Qi Xu had not tried to use this move, but Hui was.
The creature could not be allowed to escape, or else their hard-fought battle would have been for nothing.
Mister Mu’s voice grew heavy. “Little Seven, do everything you can to keep it here.”
Lu Yin looked at Mister Mu. “Master, do you have a way to break the coffin?”
“I will try.”
Lu Yin stared at the silver coffin. It had already gotten very close to the gate. Even if Mister Mu had a way to break the coffin, he needed time.
Keep it here... How? How?
Suddenly, Lu Yin thought of something. He vanished, reappearing with the red coffin. He then vanished again before reappearing. He had placed the red coffin in front of Obscura’s gate, blocking access to it.
Everyone was stunned, and they stared in a daze. Was he... blocking the gate?
Inside the silver coffin, Hui was dumbfounded. He wants to block the gate?
Lu Yin entered the red coffin and closed the lid. He might not be able to connect the coffin to the gate, but he could block it.
If nothing else was able to block the gate, then he would use something that belonged to Obscura to do so. He refused to believe that the gate could not be blocked.
Amazingly, it worked. The red coffin sealed the gate.
The silver coffin slammed into the red one, preventing both from passing through it.
From inside the red coffin, Lu Yin smiled at Hui. Hui stared at the human in a daze. That actually worked?
Such a thing had never happened before. Just what was going on?
