Chapter 255: The Little Prince

Elsa woke up to the bittersweet fragrant smell of coffee. When she opened her eyes, Chris was no longer beside her, and saw Rylie and Arla preparing her breakfast on the table. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Good morning girls," Elsa greeted and the two ladies stopped what they were doing to look at her and smile.

"Good morning to you as well, the King said this is what you prefer for breakfast. We hope you like it," Rylie said.

"Hmm, coffee and french toast. I love it. Where is he and Lexi?" she asked.

"The king is with the council and Lexi is with Laureen but she told us to call for her when you wake up. The King instructed us to let you sleep more because you were very tired yesterday," Rylie replied.

"Let her stay with Laureen for the meantime," Elsa said as she sat on the table. "Join me. This is my rule... Whenever Chris gets up early and I have to eat alone you girls will join me."

Rylie and Arla nodded and sat on the table as well.

"We already ate breakfast but we can join you with coffee. The smell is enticing," Arla giggled and so did the two.

"Rylie, drink fruit juices next time, I’ve heard from my husband last night that you and Kaizer were trying to have a baby."

"Yes, Your Majesty, I mean Elsa. We have been trying for years but failed. Whenever I miss a month I would get excited that perhaps I am pregnant but then after a month or two I’ll find out that I’m not."

Elsa squinted her eyes and asked, "Does it always happen?"

"Yes. I think I might be cursed or something," Rylie sighed and lowered her head.

"No, you’re not. Could be hormonal or there’s something going on in your body. If only I could do some tests." Elsa then took a pen and paper and continued. "But I will write down some plant oil and fish oil that you could use. I’ll write the instructions on how to extract it and how to use it. Take it every other day, stop whenever you bleed, and continue as soon as your bleeding stops.

You will have to help me too by writing down the dates when you started bleeding and when it ended. In your note, you have to include as well the days that you and your husband spend the night together. Which is only for yourself until the day that we suspect you are pregnant."

Both Rylie and Arla blushed at how direct her instruction was.

"Uhm... Is that really necessary? I mean the activities I have with my husband?" Rylie asked while stuttering.

Elsa chuckled and said, "Yes, so I could tell you to stop taking the oils. Our first goal is to have you bleed regularly every month. That alone could help solve everything. Hmm... Arla get me another paper I will draw a part of your body to help you understand."

Arla gave Elsa another piece of paper and Elsa started teaching the two the female anatomy and totally lost track of time for how educational her teaching was.

When the two mages failed to call Lexi from Laureen’s room after some time, Lexi pondered what happened to the two and decided to go to Elsa’s room instead. She found the three immersed in the discussion that they didn’t even notice her come in.

"I was wondering what’s taking you so long, I thought the Queen was still sleeping."

The three women jerked in utter surprise and turned to Lexi.

"Oh! We totally forgot! The Queen is teaching us, specifically me how can I fix my body without magic so I can get pregnant," Rylie said.

Lexi quickly pulled a chair and joined them. "I want to know too!" she exclaimed excitedly but immediately pouted. "Nevermind. Teach me some other time. It’s useless anyway. My husband will join the hunt tomorrow, so I have to wait for him for me to start dreaming about babies."

"Speaking of the hunt, I want to know your decisions. I know that Kaizer will not join so Rylie will surely stay here. How about you two? Aren’t you going to join your husbands?" Elsa asked Lexi and Arla.

"I want to, but I am really not trained for such things. I can fight yes, but I’m no warrior. If I go with Baahu, I’m afraid I will just be a burden there for I will be the one who will need saving!" Lexi laughed making the three women laugh too.

"How about you Arla? You are no longer an ordinary mage, you are married to a prince so that makes you technically a princess even though Drake hasn’t decided yet if he will relinquish his title," Elsa stated.

"I haven’t really decided on that. Drake was really busy yesterday and came to our room very late since he and Andrius went to the port after the burial to send some of the mages back to Zemaria.

This morning we both woke up early to do our tasks so we haven’t really talked about it yet. But I am torn about what should I do. Everything happened so fast that I don’t know what is my role anymore," Arla said in a low voice.

"Arla, you are not bound to me. I no longer need your protection. You are a fighter and a leader. I don’t think you will be happy to stay here since there’s nothing to do here but to do the tasks of a lady-in-waiting which is to accompany me.

My task for the next coming days will be focused on attending court meetings, taking care of my son, and mostly training the healers here. I am planning to put up a school for that and I also plan to modernize Arcanis and everything has nothing to do with fighting.

The lifestyle that you are used to is different than the life that you will have here if you stay. I am not pushing you away but instead, I am giving you the freedom to think and decide for yourself. Drake will be the Commander of the soldiers of Zemaria once Andrius becomes King and I think you are a good fit to be the leader of the mages.

Fighting beside him will strengthen your bond and will also give you the experience that you need once you apply for the position."

"Thank you for believing in me. I think you are right. My place is in the battlefield. I will reconsider my options once the war is over. Perhaps by then, Drake and I will be ready for babies, and then I will settle down in Zemaria to take care of our family and future children," Arla replied.

"I will surely miss you. But who knows, I might always visit Zemerai since I got wings now," Elsa jested making everyone chuckle.

"So girls, if you are done here, I need all of you to come with me to the library after we dress up the queen. I have made the servants clean it so it can be used again without people sneezing," Lexi said.

"What are we going to do in the library?" Elsa asked before finishing up her coffee.

"Since Arla will not stay here for long, only the two of you should come with me but Arla can still join. I will teach you the customs of Arcanis. There’s so much that you need to learn since you came from Novus."

"Alright, let’s start my day. I have learned a lot from Zemaria before learning the customs of Arcanis should be easy," Elsa said confidently and excitedly.

Learning more about where her husband came from and where she will stay from now on makes her excited. Plus, it will be the lesson that she will teach Rocco someday so it motivated her to study today... Or so she thought.

When they arrived in the library, piles and piles of books were waiting for her on the table that Lexi had asked the servants to prepare.

"So many books!" Rylie exclaimed.

"Oh! The servants are not yet done cleaning everything..." Elsa pretended that she didn’t get the slightest idea that those books were for her and hoped that they were really not for her.

"They are done cleaning. These books are for you, My Queen," Lexi said with a smile as she patted the books.

"There’s so much! I don’t think I have read as much as this in medical school or ever," Elsa retorted.

"Don’t worry, we will slowly tackle each book. We will not read it from cover to cover though, we will only use the others for pictures while I tell the content to you. Some are very old and the contents are not relevant anymore so I will summarize it for you," Lexi said.

"Good thing I got you as my lady-in-waiting!" Elsa exclaimed and hugged Lexi tight making her gasp for air.

Arla and Rylie laughed at the sight of the two, but the door of the library swung wide open and Chris’ chamberlain came in a rush surprising the ladies.

"The elf is here with the little prince! Prince Rocco arrived in Arcanis!" the chamberlain exclaimed.
