The Rising Phoenix-Chapter 952: I Am Leaving
"Why did I enrol? Because I want to study. There are many things that I can only learn by enrolling myself in a proper school." Bai Xifeng stated calmly.
Of course, she did not mention her real purpose for attending Tianlong School. It was to obtain the specific herbs required for her own treatment, something she could not easily find elsewhere.
"I see..." Si Tang responded thoughtfully.
She truly had not expected that to be the reason. A girl as skilled and humble as Bai Xifeng was an extremely rare existence. Most people with that level of talent would want to show off and bask in the fame and admiration brought by their accomplishments.
"You should probably wait and leave tomorrow morning." Si Tang suggested after a brief pause.
"No! I cannot do that." Bai Xifeng said firmly, immediately shaking her head without hesitation.
"Why?" Si Tang asked, clearly puzzled.
"Your house will be flooded with people tomorrow asking to meet me." Bai Xifeng explained patiently. "You and the others saw that I successfully concocted a God Rank elixir. Many people will come seeking me out, so I need to escape before that happens. Oh... and whatever you do, do not tell them that I am from Tianlong School."
"I understand, Lady Bai." Si Tang nodded solemnly. "Thank you for curing my mother. If you ever need my help in the future, I, Si Tang, will definitely repay this favour with my life if necessary."
"Alright." Bai Xifeng smiled faintly.
After packing her belongings, she was finally ready to leave.
"Okay... I am leaving now." Bai Xifeng stated.
"Take care of yourself during the journey." Si Tang said sincerely.
Bai Xifeng quietly slipped out of Si Residence using the back door. The night air was cool and slightly chilly. Luckily, she had worn several layers of clothing, which protected her from the cold.
Si Tang then returned to her mother’s room, her steps steady but her mind still occupied with many thoughts.
"Tang’er..." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
A soft and weak voice suddenly broke the silence. Si Tang turned quickly upon hearing it and saw her mother. Madam Si, Su Jian, was leaning weakly against the doorway. She still looked pale, but the deathly grey tint that had plagued her skin for years was gone, replaced by a faint yet flickering sign of life.
"Mom... You should not be out of bed." Si Tang said anxiously as she rushed over to her mother’s side.
Her face showed the unmistakable expression of a daughter deeply worried about her mother’s condition.
"Don’t worry. I am fine. I have regained some energy." Su Jian said with a gentle smile, trying to reassure her.
Si Tang carefully supported Su Jian and led her back to the bed, making sure she was comfortable before stepping back slightly.
"Where is that person?" Su Jian asked curiously.
"Who?" Si Tang asked in return, though she already had a guess.
"The one who cured my illness." Su Jian clarified.
"Oh... She has already left." Si Tang answered.
"Already left? I heard she was still here this evening." Su Jian said, clearly surprised by the news.
"Yes." Si Tang nodded.
"I heard she was a very beautiful girl. Is it dangerous for her to leave at this hour?" Su Jian asked with concern evident in her voice.
"Mom... You do not have to worry about her. She is a very strong cultivator. I do not think anyone in this city could match her in a fight." Si Tang said confidently.
Su Jian lightly hit her daughter’s hand.
"What are you saying? Even if she is strong, how can she fight against a large number of people alone? You should go and bring her back. Let her leave tomorrow instead." Su Jian insisted.
"Mom... As I said earlier, you do not have to worry. She is stronger than both Father and me. Not to mention, she has a contracted beast that could match a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator." Si Tang explained patiently.
"What? Really?" Su Jian asked, clearly shocked.
"Hmm..." Si Tang nodded.
Si Tang suddenly remembered something. Bai Xifeng had come to this city riding a three-headed wolf. Then later, she rode another beast and flew straight into the tribulation lightning cloud. Only now did she finally realise something important. Those were two entirely different beasts. How could someone contract two different beasts at the same time? She had never heard of such a thing before.
"Tang’er... Tang’er..."
Si Tang finally snapped back to reality after hearing her mother call her name several times in succession.
"Yes, Mom?" Si Tang responded quickly.
"I heard that I was poisoned. So, who is the culprit?" Su Jian asked, her tone turning serious.
"They were Mei Lijuan and Si Wunjian." Si Tang stated coldly.
"What? I can understand if Mei Lijuan wanted me to die. But Si Wunjian... He is your third uncle. Why would he want to poison me? That does not make any sense." Su Jian said in shock and disbelief.
"Mom... Mei Lijuan and Si Wunjian had an affair. They even had a son together. They planned to kill us, starting with you. They assumed I would lose my mind after witnessing your death. They probably thought that I would end up fighting with Father. During that chaos, both of us might lose our lives. Si Wunjian wanted to inherit the Patriarch position. Since he did not have another son, the son he had with Mei Lijuan would eventually inherit that position in the future." Si Tang explained in detail.
"What? A son? With Mei Lijuan? Where..." Su Jian’s face showed a shocked expression as she suddenly realised something.
Si Tang smiled faintly and nodded.
