The Rising Phoenix-Chapter 951: ’Taking Care’ Of Mei Lijuan
"W-What... are you...?" Si Wunjian choked out.
Bai Xifeng smiled faintly, though the expression never reached her cold, piercing gaze.
"That has nothing to do with you, does it?" Bai Xifeng said, tilting her head with an air of nonchalance.
Si Tang stepped forward, her presence heavy with impending doom.
"You are indeed stupid." Si Tang said with a cold tone. "You chose the wrong target."
She raised her sword, ready to end Si Wunjian’s life once and for all. Without hesitation, she plunged the blade into Si Wunjian’s chest and twisted the steel, intentionally prolonging his agony.
"Argh!!!" Si Wunjian’s scream ripped through the air as he convulsed in pain.
"This is the price you pay for daring to harm my mother." Si Tang declared, staring straight into Si Wunjian’s fading eyes.
"No!!!"
Another piercing scream echoed through the hall. It was Mei Lijuan. She watched in absolute horror as the man she had loved her entire life died in front of her. Desperate, she tried to crawl closer to Si Wunjian’s collapsing form.
Si Tang pulled her sword back, only to stab Si Wunjian’s chest over and over again in a rhythmic, bloody display of vengeance. She completely ignored Mei Lijuan’s frantic pleas for her to stop. A dark smirk played on Si Tang’s lips. Why should she stop? Why would she ever grant him mercy?
Only after witnessing the life truly leave Si Wunjian’s body did Si Tang finally halt. She turned her icy attention toward Mei Lijuan.
"I have not forgotten you." Si Tang said, offering the woman a chilling smile.
Mei Lijuan finally realised the gravity of the situation she was in. She shook her head in denial, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Then, she turned toward Si Wuntian.
"Husband, please save me! Please forgive me! Spare my life!" Mei Lijuan begged in a voice that was cracking with desperation.
"Even he could not stop what I am going to do to you. But don’t worry. I will let you die eventually." Si Tang interrupted.
"You... You... What are you going to do to me?" Mei Lijuan stammered, trembling.
"What am I going to do to you? Well... Oh... I have a brilliant idea. How about you get a taste of my mother’s suffering?" Si Tang suggested.
"You... No... No... I did not want to know that!" Mei Lijuan cried, shaking her head frantically.
"Well... It is not your choice to make. It is mine." Si Tang chuckled darkly.
Mei Lijuan realised she did not want to endure the same torment as Si Tang’s mother. It was better to die now by her own hand. As for her son, she rationalised that Si Wunjian’s wife might take care of him, so she did not have to worry much about his future.
Mei Lijuan began to gather the Qi inside her body, intending to trigger a self-explosion. She hoped to at least injure some of them in her final, violent act.
"Hey, she is trying to self-explode," Bai Xifeng called out calmly.
Hearing the warning, Si Tang moved like a flash, striking Mei Lijuan’s meridian with precision. The woman cried out in pain. With that single strike, Mei Lijuan’s internal energy was locked; she could no longer gather the Qi inside her body.
"Si Tang, you bitch!" Mei Lijuan hissed through her gritting teeth.
"Jung Wang, you are going to be responsible for ’taking care’ of Mei Lijuan." Si Tang commanded.
Jung Wang was startled when he heard his name being called so suddenly by Si Tang.
"Give her the same ’medicine’ that you once gave to my mother, and take care of her exactly as you have taken care of my mother for all these years." Si Tang stated firmly.
Jung Wang realised he had no choice but to obey Si Tang’s order if he wanted to survive.
"Don’t worry. I am not going to be as cruel as they were, those who threatened you with your family’s lives." Si Tang added.
Jung Wang felt a wave of immense relief wash over him when he heard Si Tang mention that.
Si Tang then turned her gaze toward her father and the assembled elders.
"I have punished the traitors who harmed our family. As for the third uncle’s family... I will hand over the decision to the elders to determine their fates." Si Tang stated.
After finishing her piece, Si Tang excused herself. Bai Xifeng followed close behind as they both exited the hall.
"It is done." Bai Xifeng remarked once they were outside.
"Hmm..." Si Tang responded, the weight of the day finally settling on her.
"So, when can I receive my payment?" Bai Xifeng asked, her tone shifting to business.
"Let’s go to my courtyard." Si Tang said.
...
"You are leaving already?" Si Tang asked in surprise a short while later.
"Yeah... I need to head back. My day off is almost over, and I might get punished if I stay any longer." Bai Xifeng stated.
She had already received her payment, so there was no further reason to linger. Not to mention, by the next day, she needed to be back at Tianlong School.
"Oh..." Si Tang replied softly.
She had actually forgotten that this formidable girl was still a student. She wondered why such a talented pharmacist would choose to enrol in a school. Since there was a chance they might never meet again, Si Tang took the opportunity to ask.
"Lady Bai..." Si Tang called out to catch her attention.
"Yes?" Bai Xifeng responded.
"Why did you choose to enrol in a school? With your level of talent, you could easily join a large sect or a powerful family." Si Tang questioned.
