Chapter 953: Chapter 953: Want To See Bai Xifeng

"That son has been living in the third uncle’s household all along, raised under a different identity. He is the child that Si Wunjian had with Mei Lijuan." Si Tang stated clearly.

"Does your third auntie know about this?" Su Jian asked, her tone laced with worry.

"She probably knows by now." Si Tang replied.

Her third auntie was a good woman, gentle, kind, and soft-spoken. Si Tang had never once heard her speak a harsh word or act with even a hint of rudeness. She loved Si Wunjian deeply, so she must have been utterly devastated upon learning the truth about her husband’s long-standing betrayal.

"Now, everything is finally over. Mom... they, Mei Lijuan and Si Wunjian, will never be able to hurt anyone again. I have already ensured that both of them have paid their debts in full." Si Tang said as she gently took her mother’s hands in her own.

Madam Si let out a long, weary sigh. A sound filled with both immediate relief and a lingering sense of sadness. "And your father?"

Si Tang’s expression hardened slightly. "He is probably in the main hall with the elders, trying to piece together what remains of his pride and authority. He allowed this to happen under his own roof. For now, I have left the ’politics’ to him. My only priority has always been your life."

The next morning, someone came knocking urgently at Si Tang’s courtyard. A young disciple bowed low to Si Tang, appearing breathless and wide-eyed.

"Young Madam... The elders... They are calling for Lady Bai. A messenger from the Pharmacist Association has already arrived at the main gate. They are demanding an audience!" The disciple informed Si Tang, his voice trembling.

Si Tang felt a surge of cold irritation. Bai Xifeng was right. Those people would inevitably come over, demanding to meet with her.

"Go and tell them that Lady Bai has already departed. If they insist on demanding to see her, they are more than welcome to go and search for her themselves." Si Tang said coldly, crossing her arms over her chest.

"But... But... The elder says..." The disciple tried to speak, stuttering in his hesitation.

"I don’t care what they say." Si Tang interrupted, her eyes flashing with the same lethal light she had shown in the hall previously. "If they have the guts, they can go and look for her. The elders already know exactly how powerful Lady Bai is."

The disciple turned pale and scrambled backwards in fear. "I... I will relay your words to the elders immediately."

The disciple relayed the message to the elders. Having witnessed how powerful Bai Xifeng truly was, they did not want to provoke her anger any further. Consequently, they told the representatives from the Pharmacist Association that the girl had only come to their residence to treat their matriarch’s illness and had already left the premises.

The people from the Pharmacist Association were deeply disappointed when they heard that news. They told others that if anyone knew about the girl’s true identity and current whereabouts, they would greatly appreciate receiving any information regarding her.

Manager Lin, from Shanghai Pavilion, heard about this news and smirked to himself. He possessed the information they sought, but he had absolutely no plan to give that information to the Pharmacist Association.

In the Zhang Mansion, Zhang Minglu went to see Yao Huifang. Yao Huifang had been happy, playing quietly with her daughter. Her expression turned sour the moment she saw her husband enter the room.

"Why did you come here?" Yao Huifang asked bluntly.

"Who is that girl?" Zhang Minglu asked, ignoring his wife’s question.

"What girl?" Yao Huifang asked back, her tone defensive.

"The one that you brought back here before." Zhang Minglu stated.

"Oh... Her... Why are you asking about that now?" Yao Huifang raised her eyebrow in suspicion.

"Tell me who she is." Zhang Minglu pressed, his voice demanding.

"She is a pharmacist who successfully treated my daughter’s illness." Yao Huifang said with a small, defiant smile.

"I know that already. What is her background?" Zhang Minglu asked again, his impatience growing.

"I am asking you once again. Why do you want to know?" Yao Huifang repeated the question.

"The Pharmacist Association is looking for her. You could gain great favour from the Pharmacist Association by providing her name. So, tell me, who is she?" Zhang Minglu stated.

Yao Huifang stared at Zhang Minglu for a long time without saying a single word.

"Hey, why are you looking at me like that?" Zhang Minglu asked, feeling increasingly uncomfortable under Yao Huifang’s steady, cold stare.

"Zhang Minglu... Let’s get a divorce." Yao Huifang finally spoke up.

"What?" Zhang Minglu was utterly shocked.

He did not understand why Yao Huifang had suddenly brought up the topic of divorce. They were talking about a completely different matter entirely.

"I have been thinking a lot during these last couple of days. I have lived with you for ten years. When our daughter became sick... You immediately abandoned her and gave up on treating her. I went to many places, searching for a person who could save her, and finally, I found Lady Bai. Our daughter is healed now. I thought you would turn your attention back to our daughter after she recovered. However, you were still the same. You did not pay any attention to her at all. I can not let my daughter grow up in this toxic environment. So, let’s divorce. I will move out with my daughter, and you can enjoy yourself however you wish." Yao Huifang said while looking straight into Zhang Minglu’s eyes.

Zhang Minglu frowned deeply. He seemed to refuse the idea of getting a divorce from his wife.
