The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 45: The Royal library - II

"Should we begin?" I asked with a polite smile on my face. Looking back at him, I found him to be still looking at me with a soft expression.

I did not want me to have affections for me, which is why I said, "I do not have much time. By the month’s end, I have to leave." He frowned at the information given by me.

"That is it? That is all you have in time?" His reply only confirmed my suspicions.

I nodded. "Yes, Prince Terence would have his coronation done by the next month and after that, I would have to go to the castle to learn from the Queen before getting married," I revealed the timeline of the future that I had in front of me. It could be the fact that I was mistaken about his feelings for me but it did not stop me from telling him the truth so that if it were to happen shortly he would know that there was no chance of him being with me.

Courting a woman who was betrothed to someone else was of no use because if the engagement was broken, no family would ever accept the woman until unless the man was at fault and everybody knew it.

He nodded. "I suppose," he nodded thoughtfully, "We should hurry up and gather as much as we can about these abductions and the creatures of the night."

He moved away from the window which overlooked the capital and made his way to a wooden cupboard whereas I stood where I had been.

He opened it with the key and then pulled out a few books and manuscripts. I wondeted how they had already put the bound manuscripts, also known as books, in use whereas my country did was not even aware of it. I had often taken pride in the fact that my country promoted education at the primary level but I know was aware of the fact that we lacked the advancement in it as well.

I am sure that these inventions would have knocked on our door as well but my father must have turned them away because for him education was what was going to keep the royalty thriving.

"Here we go," he kept the books on the table and I made my way to it. "These are the materials we have that remotely mention the creatures of the night because they are never really mentioned anywhere else."

So did in our Kingdom. "How is it that before now it was never mentioned? Even in my library when I checked, after you mention them, there was almost nothing talking about their presence, in the past or the future."

He released a long breath and looked at the material then shook his head. "I am afraid princess that I do not have the answer for this. The scholars and I along with my brothers have been searching for some kind of prophecy or a message from the past to tell us that this was going to be a problem for us but there is nothing related to it." He looked out of the window again, "It is almost as if they have never existed before." He whispered with a sigh. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"But that can’t be right," I said with a slight frown on my forehead, "If they never existed before and have come into existence now there must be someone who should have been aware of it and they would have reported that to some authority." I was shocked at the revelation. Creatures of the night were not creation of God and if they were not the creation of the god that they were the creation of the devil or just a mistake that should not be existing.

"Corruption exists," he answered with an irritated look," Also not everyone dares to come forward and reports something so unworldly. One always fears that he would be branded as someone who is crazy and out of his mind and the other option is corruption. For all we know, someone might have known but I did not report it or someone did not bother to report the compliant with given."

I did not bother to present him another question because it appeared that he only knew as much as I did. Which appeared to be nothing.

I opened the first manuscript and began reading.

I closed this one shut as well.

"All of them talk about the same thing and occasional howl which could result in something dangerous shortly but that is all, that is it!" My voice rose at the end because of my frustration is. Every manuscript or book had the same writings in them and nothing could be deducted from them.

The prince, who unlike me, had long given up on our reading the books again had just closed his eyes and put his feet on the table.

He nodded with opening his eyes. "Yes, I know, I have read those numerous times." He did not even open his eyes.

"What now?" I closed my eyes as well as I leaned back into the chair.

Silence blanketed us as he did not reply or had fallen asleep.

I wanted to know more about the possibility of how we had nothing regarding a calamity or an abomination of nature. Something must have been said about it by someone. Some astrologer or by stargazing. If it was a problem caused by nature, then nature must have had a way to make the others aware of it.

Had someone not seen at all or were we looking in the wrong place?

"Wait a moment!" I stood up immediately and crossed the distance to the window as I looked out. Of course, someone must have seen it and yes, we will look in the wrong place.

"Is everything alright Princess?" I heard him say, "do you need to rest?"

"No," I turned to him then excited smile on my face I finally had the lead to move on. "We are looking in the wrong place, to begin with. Is this section of the library allowed to be viewed by the commoners?"

He shook his head. "No, the section we stand in is only for the royals and their knowledge. You will not find any manuscript or book that is not backed by facts. All of the material here is written by scholars which have either seen or experienced the happenings." He confirmed my doubts and my smile widened.

"Then it is confirmed, my friend, we are indeed looking in the wrong place."
