The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 44: The Royal library - I
The next time that I woke up I was feeling much better and more awake than before. This bed had done wonders even though it did not come close to what I had been sleeping on for ages. Yet, it was still avl aid me in a good night’s sleep.
Prince Lysar had not come to wake me up personally but he had spent maid for it who was getting me ready.
"I have never seen you here before, which is truly a miracle because you are so beautiful!" She gushed, "in fact, no one has been talking about you. Are you new?"
I sighed, tired of it all.
I shook my head. Before going to bed last night I have decided what was I going to say to everyone about my relationship with the prince.
"I am a friend of his," I answered, "I am bothered to someone else whose life is in danger and might endanger mine as well which is why The Prince has been kind enough to help me out in this."
"Oh," her hands stilled momentarily. She was not expecting that. Well," she cleared her throat, "The Prince. . . How do I say this. . " She hesitated but in the end came in front of me and sat down on the floor.
"You must stay away and make distance from the prince. I understand that he is helping his friend but a male like him can not be trusted and beauty like you can not be left alone."
How, in the end, does always being beautiful become the lady’s fault? When it is always expected from her to be one.
I nodded nonetheless. The Prince was someone I did not know nor had I ever seen. He was good at hiding his emotions and putting on a blank impression giving everyone a hindrance to read what was going on in his mind which once again gave me the image that I should stay away from him.
A lot of responsibilities along with lives were dependent on me including the future of my kingdom and The throne which my sister wanted to have.
It was hers by birth and I would do my very best to make sure that she would sit on it forever.
"I understand," I repeated as she did not take my nodding as an answer. Here, I remembered Marilyn and I wished that she was here instead of this one.
Marilyn could tell when was I listening and when was I dreaming away. I missed her and I think I would request the prince to bring her here as soon as possible. Her presence usually grounded me. Whenever I saw her trying to figure events and articles of happenings on her own, it would help me too.
Or perhaps I just needed her as a friend.
"There, we are done now." She said and stood in front of me to admire his handiwork. "I love your hair and how soft and shiny it is. I would love to style your hair as long as you are here."
I smiled at her but it was full of pain. She has tugged my hair so much that I believe half of them had fallen. I needed Merilyn.
"Thank you." I was grateful to her for her help. "Where is the prince?"
"He told me that when we were finished I would have to bring you to the Royal Library. Are you interested in manuscripts or what they call books?" I could see that disapproval coming from her. It was not common for a girl with a love for reading anything from tales to the history of the country. Most of us were expected to be the perfect wives and a perfect wife or mother did not require having any knowledge of sorts.
For her, it Disappointed me as well. "Yes, I love reading." I stood and looked at her pointedly. "The library?"
She nodded, taken aback by my sudden change in demeanour. She walked out of the room filled by me. Servants passed by us walking and I could see them staring at me as I walked past them.
For them, it was an obvious assumption that someone beautiful had to be either a princess or a concubine and in this case, I knew waht they had used for me to be the latter and concubines could only be found in the haram of the palace unless needed by the king or the queen somewhere else.
"Here it is," the maid knocked on the door before opening it and there stood the prince, looking out of the window.
The maid bowed her head, "Your—"
"Leave," came his reply immediately. The baritone voice with no emotions.
She bowed once again and after I had stepped inside the grand library, she closed the doors and left.
"What did you tell her?" He asked but did not make a move away from the window.
I walked closer to him as I answered, "I told her that I was the bride of a friend of yours. His life was in danger and could endanger mine as well, so you very graciously offered for your help." I told him cheekily and his blank expression faltered for a moment.
He laughed softly, a nice sound to the ears. "That is certainly better than what you told my brother last night." He rose a brow and teases with a smile, "A concubine?"
I shrugged but then ended up closing my eyes in a grimace. Last night I had certainly been on my worst.
"It is all your fault." Answered I, "if you had not been The one who ordered to have me abducted I would have never enter the castle and have myself be called a concubine."
He sighed and nodded slowly at that. "I should apologize which would mean that I am guilty of the decision which I am honestly not." His words took me by surprise, "I am glad that you are here." His eyes looked at mine but I pulled mine away.
They were not blank anymore instead they held emotion that I did not want him to have for me.
