Chapter 305: The King is back - II

"He?" I frowned. "Fath—"

"King! King! The vampire king!" Dorothy exclaimed. " The vampire king is here!"

"Oh," I nodded before squinting my eyes at her, "so, you can see him now?"

Dorothy blinked before crying out in frustration and pointing her hand towards the door, "Of course, I can see him! He is right there standing at the porch!"

It was her imagination for sure. Tristan had not bothered to appear in front of anyone except me and why would he change his mind now?

Stepping away from her, I made my way to the door only for Dorothy to hold my arm and hold me back.

"What are you thinking?" Dorothy hissed at me. "You cannot just go there!"

I turned to look at her, "what else do you expect me to do? You and I both know that he is here for me. How long do you think I can go on avoiding him?" Especially that he was outside and most of our members were. How were they supposed to come in in the presence of a vampire that was bloodthirsty in revenge?

I wasn’t scared anymore. I was just desperate to get it over with. Which did not get past me that he was trying to play with my mind.

"I..uh," she gulped, thinking about what to say but came up short. "You don’t have to do this princess! We can definitely wait until Sir Walter and his family comes. We will ask him for advice and he will tell us what to do—"

"For that, my dear friend, he would have to come into the house. I don’t think that would be an option with Tristan standing outside the door and listening into our conversation." I pointedly told her the last bit.

Realisation came to her that all this time Tristan had been listening to her conversation with me. All her plans that she had made in the spur of the moment were something he was very much aware of.

"Oh my god," She gasped before her face morphed into an expression of crying. "What are we to do now?"

Just as I opened my mouth to answer, the sound of wheels and horses neighing caught our attention. Well then, I wouldn’t have much to think about because Sir Walter was already here.

We went to the front Just as the cart halted. Tristan had not even bothered to be on the porch of the house. He was casually waiting on the gravel where Sir Walter would usually park his carriage.

My eyes went to him without any delay, like they knew where to go and the destination was him.

The king of the vampires stared back at me only this time, the difference was that his eyes no longer had any love in them for me, the warmth that they once possessed was no longer there.

Instead, cold red eyes stared back at me.

I looked away, unable to stare at them for any longer.

"My king," Sir Walter bowed in front of him perfectly like he had done a thousand times before, "we were not aware that you were going to come and visit us. Please excuse us—"

"I want her." Tristan’s words cut him off. "I want nothing to do with a lot of you. Call her and we both are on our way."

Me, he was talking about me but he was not even looking my way. It was a being bargained as a commodity.

"I’m afraid, my king, I cannot do that." Sir Walter was patient, he chose his next words very carefully as it had them rehearsed then time and again. " Princess Genevive belongs to another country and we have no right over here. The best course of action would be to hand her over—"

"To me." He completed, "The best course of action for anyone would be to hand her over to me."

The rough, barely suppressing the angry voice made me warm on the inside but also fearful in my heart. Tristan had no intention of letting go.

Sir walter shook nodded, "I understand bu—"

"Your wife and your son have started the journey back home. I can reach them within seconds and make sure they never speak to you again." Tristan stared ahead of Sir Walter, into the direction where his wife and his son were supposed to come from,

it was understandable that when he talk about never speaking again, he meant that they were never going to breathe again.

The panic on the face of the man who had been threatened for his wife and son was visible and that made me feel bad. He was going through it because of me.

His family was being threatened because of me.

Understanding that this was very tough for some water, the choice was inevitable, I stepped forward—

"No," Sir Walter’s Voice rang out, making me jump, "you do not step outside the house, Genevieve."

I gulped, slightly hesitant of doing so while watching his face that was set in stone as was his mind.

"I," I swallowed again, "this was bound to happen sir walter. You must understand that I cannot make you choose between me and your family."

He shook his head, not paying me any mind as he turned to look at the king. "There must be a way we can negotiate for it. The princess is too young and naive—"

"The princess is intelligent enough to cause a coup with the most dangerous animals in the world." The bite in his voice made me want to cry. "I think she will be fine."

Moving my eyes from Tristan, I turned to look at Sir Walter. How long was he going to try before realising that there was no way of winning against the man that was here to take me?

"I see," Tristan sighed heavily, "you are unable to decide."

He then smiled and I felt the chills crawl up my spine, " allow me to help you."

That was the last I heard of him, we heard of him, because in the next second he was gone.
