The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 271: A small gift - III
Diwal left quickly after I had picked up the box and told him that I was going to hand it over to Marilyn.
He knew something more about these people than I did because his fear was different and much more like the servants who witnessed the horrors more than I had.
I tapped on the door of her room and it was opened almost immediately by Lara.
Surprised, I opened my mouth to say something but ended up closing it.
"I get it," she winked, "I was able to convince mum and Vaughn that I could come without any trouble."
"What trouble?"
Lara’s eyes snapped to mine before I could with the expression in them, it disappeared and was replaced by a smile. "Nothing to worry about," she waved it off, "come in."
Taking a hold of my hand she pulled away with a lot of force and necessary making me almost stumble on the front folds of my dress.
"Genevieve!"
Turning my face from where I had heard my name, I found Marilyn in between three women, one of them being camilla.
"Merilyn," I smiled. Taking in her happy and bright twinkling eyes, I could not help but widen my smile and walk closer to her.
Palming the side of her face, I took it all in. "You look so beautiful." I pinched her cheek, "just like a blushing bride you used to dream about when we were young."
She blushed at the praise and let out a shy giggle. "Can you believe it? I am having my wedding, my dream wedding with a man that is so.." running out of words, Merilyn let out a sigh, "so unreal."
And dead, but nevermind that.
"You deserve it all, my love." I kissed her cheek with a happy smile. "All of it."
Somehow I still could not believe that one of us was getting married and had actually gotten married.
She made one of the most beautiful brides that I had ever seen and with my position, I had seen quite a lot.
"Ahh," we heard a happy sigh from Camilla, "I remember when the same happened with me and Chiara." She had a soft glow on her face and the smile added a lot more to it.
For Camila, I had no reason to not believe that she was as beautiful and shy as Merilyn but Chiara? She was a different story.
I would definitely have a hard time believing if anyone told me that she was once shy and giggled while blushing. However, if anyone told me that she would punch anyone or slap them, maybe even verbally berate them, that was something I would believe.
"Here," I handed out the box, "I got a little something for you."
Her eyes dropped down to the box that was placed on her lap. "Why?" She frowned. "You should not have. Having you here is more than enough."
Ah, that was my dear marilyn. Even though we were worlds apart now, she was still the same at heart.
"I truly cherish you, Marilyn," I choked out the words whilst I held her hand tightly. "I cannot imagine where I would happen if it was not for you and your constant presence in my life."
Every word of what I spoke was true. From the passing of my mother to leaving to the most barbaric country where we could have been sold without the knowledge of anyone, Marilyn had been there for me constantly.
"Oh princess.." Merilyn sniffed loudly and looked away, making me do the same. It had gotten more emotional than I had ever imagined it to be. But maybe it was supposed to be like this.
Perhaps it was the way of God to tell us that these were parting moments. The very last ones that we were going to spend together.
When I gave her the permission to get married to Allen, it was completely different to how it was now. Here she was going to attend an actual ceremony and somehow it made it more real.
We heard another sniff and looked in its direction only to find Lara crying as well.
"Oh," she turned around just as she found that we were watching her, "please don’t look at me!"
I chuckled and so did Merilyn. She was still holding the wooden box in her hand and I casted my eyes with the intention of bringing her attention back to it.
"What have you brought me?" She sighed in exaggeration before turning the box towards her and opening it.
Her eyes widened at what was in front of before she lowered the box and stared at me. "You.."
I nodded with a huge smile, "I did."
I have given her a blue pendant made of sapphire diamond along with the matching earrings and two bracelets.
This had more significance than anyone could realise. My mother had given blue diamonds to Marilyn’s mother when she had passed away but they had been stolen and it was very obvious by who.
Her mother could not complain because she was never supposed to have the diamonds in her position in the first place. The sad part about it was they were going to be something Merilyn was going to have as her dowry and her gift from her mother.
"Where did you find them?" Her red eyes became full of tears again and I had questions about how she could cry while being dead but I placed them aside.
My palm reached over to cup her cheek and I let the words flow. "I wanted you to have something old and something that is connected to the past even though you believe you’re walking into something new." I smiled to myself. "I want you to be connected to the happy memories we had, you had."
As much as I wanted her to move on in life I also wanted her to hold onto the happy memories she had spent making in the country we had come from.
The country that I was going back to and hopefully tonight.
