The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 259: A bitten girl - I
I moved silently behind Bert who was leading me to the rooms of the king. Rooms of the king; I was going to eat with him in his chambers and nothing could scare me more at the moment.
To be in such close proximity with the man whose mark laid on my neck, I shook my head, hurriedly shaking myself out of it. The mark ached slightly. Ache or ich, whatever it was, i could not tell but it only seemed to happen when he was close and I could not help but take notice of it now.
"Here," Bert stopped shortly in front of the door before he opened it for me and stepped to the side, "My lady."
Gulping, I moved inside and felt the whoosh of air as the door closed. I gulped again but did not move. Being inside his room acknowledged the fact that I was closer to him.
Close enough to have him sink his teeth in me again.
"My lady," Nokul appeared in front of me, "Please, allow me to show you the way." He raised his hand and pointed inside where he had come from.
Once again, he was looking at my feet. The farthest his eyes went were to my knees. He sure was a follower of the traditions because not even one time had I ever caught him looking above my feet.
"Sure," I replied and I watched as he nodded and started to slowly turn to walk away. I followed him and moments later, I was inside the quarters of the king.
They were well constructed, gorgeous with the luxury was unmatched.
He led me to a large sitting room and in the adjoining room of which was the dining table that was filled with human dishes. Perhaps Tristan was going to hide his feeding again or maybe eat after I did.
Nokul bowed and left the room once he had made me enter the dining room. His job was done.
Somehow but what happened recently and in the morning made me think of someone lying on the dining table as a meal.
What if someone had been tied up here and kept just so the vampires could feed from them?
I felt him before I could hear or see him coming. The prickle on my spine and the sensation that was over my body told me that he was near.
"Calm," he said from behind me and my body did not even jump in surprise at finding him behind me. It was as if my body had grown accustomed to him.
"Calm down Genevieve," he said and I let a sigh escape me.
His words washed away any feelings of tension inside me and I was left with nothing but numb sensation inside. I could feel any said I wanted but just not the tension I was thinking of before.
"What are you thinking of so hard?" His whispered words made me shake my head but no words escaped my mouth. "I could hear your heart beating so quickly by the end of the hall." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
By the end of the hall?
I narrowed my eyes at the table before I turned to him with suspicious eyes, "I thought you would be here to receive me. What are you doing at the end of the corridor?"
A gentle smile graced his face as he looked upon me with soft eyes. "I am the king of two kinds of people, Genevieve. As a vampire I cannot sleep, so it aids in finishing my work quicker."
"Never? Sleep?"
He shook his head, "only the gravely injured do. They are in a medicated sleep."
I felt myself grow tense at his words. That was what I still had told me about. The medication, medicine that would make them sleep.
"Medication?" I repeated after him. "Medication can put you to sleep as well just like it but with humans?" I had carefully framed my words into a question where I was innocently comparing them to humans.
Tristan was clever and Tristan was a king which meant that he knew much more than I did. Who knew behind that pretty face and beautiful smile what lied.
He chuckled and touched my shoulder gently guiding me to the seat on his side as he answered, "the medicines that I am talking about are not found just anywhere, Genevieve."
He moved to the chair of the head and continued, "they are rare and are made by doctors like my uncle who specialize in the field."
But then what if the portion that Estelle gave me was nothing but useless liquid? I could not afford to mess up and to make sure that everyone slept through the night by mixing the portion with something only for it to not work out would be very dangerous for me if I ever found out.
"You think a lot, Genevieve and you are thinking again." He made his observation, making me snap out of it and looked at him.
With a tilt of his head, he continued to observe, "what is it that you keep on thinking about?"
He could tell if I lied and saying the truth was not an option anymore.
"It’s just thinking, Tristan.." I gave a small shrug as if dismissing the matter. "There is no harm in thinking."
"Perhaps," his deep voice gave me shivers and the constant stare on me did not help.
"But I do not like it because steals you away from me."
An uncontrolled laugh escaped me. "Steals me away from you? My thinking only lasts for a moment or two."
"A moment or two, too long." He murmured as he held my eyes captured. "I don’t like that."
While staring into his eyes I realised something. Tristan had grown more brave in his advances recently.
He did not look away when I caught his stare nor did he find excuses to call me in his presence. He ordered it.
"Come in," he said all of a sudden making me frown.
I heard the sound of the doors opening and within moments to maids appeared. They carried fresh tea for us.
Just as one of them placed a cup in front of me my eyes went to her neck.
Her bitten neck.
