Chapter 258: The king’s verdict - IV

Were they going to punish her?

Vaughn seemed to be targeting the young girl who was the beloved of Solomon.

Given that there were hundreds present in the crowd he was only looking at her while he said those words.

The servants glanced at her and then at each Other. They were understanding where it was coming from.

"Spreading rumours will be considered equally a crime as the rest of it is." Vaughn spoke loud and clear making sure that everyone in the court room could hear him clearly. "This is the first and the last time that leniency is allowed. The next time we catch you," he paused, "and we will,"

"You will be killed on sight and an example will be made out of you."

From what I could see, his face went to the woods the young girl again.

"Any questions?" Vaughn asked with a tilt of his head and I almost laughed at that.

Yes, someone with definitely asking questions give in the environment. Especially with two heads that had been cut off from their body and bleeding right in front of them and at the feet of their king.

Their Vampire king.

But what Solomon let her get punished especially in the brutal way they were punishing others?

I felt a light pat on my shoulder making me look towards my right.

It was the girl who had escorted me here, she pointed towards the door that we had come from.

Instead of walking out of it, she crawled on her knees and urged me to do the same with her eyes.

I narrowed my eyes at her demand. How ridiculous it was!

She expected me, a princess, to crawl her way out?

I raised my head into the air and tilted my chin slightly. There was no way that I was crawling out of this room On My knees.

The girl, with her finger, pointed at the balcony and then used her finger to slice her neck.

I was really proud out of the door and stood up on my feet the moment I was out of the door.

"Not a word about it to anyone," I mouthed the words, "anyone."

She nodded, silently conveying the fact that she understood.

She did not let me out instantly, rather we climbed the stairs of three floors before we exited only to come in front of a floor where my rooms were.

I turned back to thank her only to find her gone with the door closed firmly behind her. Maybe, that was what sir Walter had asked her to do.

Perhaps, it was better this way. I did not know her name and if anyone ever found out that I was in the great hall I would never be able to admit that it was someone who helped me because I would never know the name.

Looking around the hallway, for the first time I could understand why they were never any guards at this time.

This meant that these types of meetings were more frequent than I expected them to be.

Entering my room, I closed the door behind me and moved to my bedroom. The only thing to do now was trying to get back to sleep so that when my maids came to wake me up no one would be suspicious.

******

I had managed to sleep at some point because Dorothy had been the one to wake me up.

"Hair up or down?" She asked as now I said fully dressed in front of the mirror and she was supposed to work on my hair now.

"Down," answered as my eyes moved to the wounded area now covered in scabs.

I touched the right side of my neck where Marilyn had bitten me.

It was true whatever Sir Dawson had told me because there was no mark where Marilyn had bitten me. It was almost like this can had never been broken.

"Done—" a knock on the door interrupted her. She looked at me and I nodded, giving her the permission to receive whoever was on the door.

Dorothy came back and announced from the door of my bedroom, "It is Solomon,"

I felt a shiver of fear down my spine.

I gulped before I looked away from her for a little moment. Having him in front of me and in the same room made me realise what was the true extent they could go to.

But it would seem suspicious if I did not let him enter. Solomon was one of those that I did not have a problem with and suddenly choosing to not let him enter would only create suspicions.

"Um," I cleared my throat before looking towards her, "let him enter."

Dorothy talk to command and moments later written with Solomon who stood at the entrance of my room. That was the most, he would never cross any distance more than that. The only time he had entered be on the entrance of my bedroom was when Tristan had been out of control.

"What is it, Solomon?" I asked not being able to hold myself that. I did not want to be rude but I also wanted him out of here as soon as possible.

It not went past me that Solomon looked more ticked off than I would like. My neck wasn’t healed completely.

He answered immediately, "the king has requested you to have breakfast in his quarters."

I tried to retain my expressions as much as I could. "I don’t think—"

Solomon give me a stern look which completely shocked me. "I’m afraid the king has spoken about his request."

Ah, request.

What a pretty word it was to cover up the word order with.

"When?"

"As and when you are ready." He answered before he bowed his head and took two steps back.

Dorothy remained by my side and continued making my hair more presentable than before. After all, I was requested to dine with the king.
