The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 250: The maids blood - I
After Marlyn selected the dress that she wanted to wear, which was the one that I had chosen for her, the rest of the young girls living in the palace entered and started to choose dresses for themselves.
This time Camilla, Chiara and I were sitting down drinking tea whereas the girls were enjoying socializing with Marilyn and having her select their dresses or ask her input on them.
I glanced at the tea cup that was in the hands of Merilyn’s mother in law. It was blood red in colour and it only made me wonder why she was thinking that in a teacup.
"You can ask me you know," Camilla smiled and shifted close, "I will be honest in telling you as much as I can." The motherly expression on her face told me that she was trying to help me out but the words also gave away that she was not ready to cross the boundaries set for her.
I glanced at the contents of the cup. "Why are you drinking blood in a teacup?" I wondered how it was sounding so normal to me to ask why she was drinking blood in the first place. If this had been me many months ago, I would have fainted on the spot.
She chuckled. "Instead of milk, we add blood. So this is exactly what you called it but it is meant for us." She winked as she raised the cup as if in celebration before taking a sip of it.
I smiled stiffly and nodded. The explanation was the same old I had received when I saw Tristan’s family eat breakfast.
I swallowed and easily. It was so difficult when all I saw was the blood of people around me that they were drinking to survive and I have the solution to end it all in my room.
I casted a look around the room. The girls that were dealing with Marilyn as if it was a celebration for them made it look like it was nothing out of the ordinary. It seems like it was just a bunch of human girls getting together in the excitement of the celebration about to come.
I chuckled at the sight of them amongst each other. How much did I miss having bad for myself? That’s for something we did when our mother was alive. After that it had been better to stay alive and make sure that the kingdom continued. I could feel my eyes water slightly at the memories long forgotten.
"Excuse me," I said to Camilla who looked slightly hesitant but nodded nonetheless, "I will be back in a few moments." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
She nodded, this time firmly.
I stood up and walked out of the room ignoring the looks I received from the girls before they went back to giggling with Marilyn again.
Not having any idea of where to work and where to go I started to climb down the stairs in hopes of finding something to do. I took one step at a time, not bothering to increase my pace because I had no destination to reach when I helped someone talking.
I was on the landing and was about to step down when the word Vampire had me stop and overhear their conversation.
"—but this is true!" She exclaimed loudly in a whisper. "They suck the blood out of you. I have not seen anyone dying but I think they can kill you!"
"What?" Someone said that hesitantly as if she did not know the truth. This one sounded much more innocent than the previous one.
"Yes," the former repeated, "my advice would be to stay away from them!"
"But he said that he loves me." The latter argued softly, "why would he say that if he wanted to hurt me?"
"Is it not obvious to you already? How else is he going to make you believe that he is not going to hurt you until he will?!" The former girl all but spat the words at the latter one. Hate dripped clearly from her words.
"I. . ." She sighed. "I don’t know. . I want to believe him."
"Then do it," the former girl huffed. "But then trust me when he hurts you I will not be the one to help you."
By the way she spoke, I believed her.
"What are you talking about?" The familiar voice made me straighten up. "Are you feeling her ears against me?"
I silenced the gasp. It was Solomon!
"N-no," the former stuttered and I gulped slightly before taking two steps down and leaning down to see clearly. Just as the wall (stonewall) of the handrail lowered as the steps did, there was some distance from where I could see what was happening on the floor below. I was placed at the position on the top which did not receive attention.
It was Solomon indeed and for the first time he looked angry. That angry from the looks of it was bad angry because the only man I had seen with the familiar expressions that Solomon now had on his face was Tristan.
I was sure that the Vampire inside Solomon was about to send.
His muscles were clenched and on his neck one could see the veins threatening to burst itself with how much control the man showed off his anger.
I gulped as he neared the girl. "What has she been telling you?"
"N-nothing," she whispered and I finally placed the Identity of the latter, innocent girl to her face.
He merely cocked a brow, "nothing, is it? Why do you bother to keep lying to me when you know I will know the truth anyhow?" He smiled at her but it was not happiness or genuinity. "Do you believe her?"
So he had heard what the mates were talking about.
The maid opened her mouth and closed it shut. She practically stuttered in the air without any words from her mouth.
I shook my head as Solomon looked at the other maid. He had received his answer.
