The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 226: Caring for her - I
I didn’t understand what happened with Tristan. But I did not pay it much mind because just as I came into my room and sat on the bed I fell into a long and beautiful sleep. It was Marilyn who had shaken me awake.
"Are you good?" She looked at me with concern in her eyes as I nodded still drowsy from sleep.
"I am fine." I answered, clearing my throat at the end. It was not painful but I could feel a slight headache coming out. "Help me," I croaked out as I gave her my hand to help me get out of bed.
Merylin immediately grasped my hand and did as told. She supported my weight as I clung to her side because my legs seemed to be unavailable all of a sudden. They ached as I stood up. I groaned at the ceiling.
"What is wrong, Genevieve?" She whispered, concerned about the sudden downfall of my health. "You were fine at breakfast."
I was. I shook my head as the only answer I could manage to give her. I really did not know what went wrong but I could feel the headache building up by the passing moment.
I did not feel good. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Merilyn must have led me back to the bed because I felt the soft mattress underneath me. She raised the covers and covered me in them.
"I do not understand what could have happened so suddenly," I heard her murmur, "but you must wait here as I call Dawson to check on you. . ."
The headache kept on growing and I closed my eyes at how bright the room had suddenly become. I stopped listening to her words as they added to the headache and before long I felt myself slipping into sleep again.

I blinked to get a clearer vision. The ceiling above was familiar in ise items to my side. I realised with the instruments on the side table that I was at the healers.
I sighed again. Now, I just feel sleepy.
"How are you feeling?"
I looked at the small woman who appeared in my line of sight. Who was she?
As if understanding my question she pointed to herself, "I am Seera, one of the apprentices of sir Dawson."
"A . . Human?" I questioned in a raspy voice.
She nodded, "I am a human until I am turned to vampirism." She informed me. She looked around to be Lara’s age but I was not sure.
"Where are the others?" I didn’t see anyone around nor heard them.
She fidgeted, "Well, you have been sick, bad sick, so. . .um . . I don’t know how to say this." She bit her lip and stepped back. "It has not been good for the past two days."
"Two days?" I repeated in disbelief. " I have been unconscious for 2 days?"
Seera nodded. "The king is not happy. We all are walking on eggshells, as the humans in the kitchen say."
"Why?" I asked, "what happened to the king?" Was he unwell too?
"You were not resting well and I do not think that you were eating the medicines given to you by sir, which is why you had attracted infection which made you feel weak." She pointed to my neck, "for the first day we had to give you something to sleep so that you would not feel the pain. I guess it has been three days in total." She corrected herself with a small shrug.
Three and not two. That certainly did not lighten the load.
"The king has not been happy," she murmured grimly, "he was ready to give you more of his blood but if he did, then your body would refuse to fight for itself or simply reject the blood because it was already fighting the infections."
"So he is angry?" God forbid.
"Very," she whispered and I nodded looking away.
The infections had caused me this much of weakness? My wounds had caught infection before but not to this extent. It was nothing that a few medicines could not take care of but I had never had fever or such weakness. So what she even telling me the truth?
"I shall call Sir Dawson," she bowed to me, "since you are awake this time and are not going to sleep anytime soon I shall call him immediately." She ran out of the door but I could see her which meant that she was saying the truth when she said that she was not yet turned to vampirism.
I slowly started to get up. It took more effort than necessary and I could only my upper back on the pillows. I really felt drained of all energy I had.
"There you are," Uncle Dawson was walking towards me, "I suppose this would be a good lesson for you to take care of yourself."
"It is," I murmured in embarrassment.
"I have taken out the infected blood, of course not with my teeth," he joked and I have him a strained smile, "But I have to say for now you are going to be under constant supervision of my apprentices. I want to do that too but the king has ordered this because you cannot rest on your own."
The king, hearing the word the king again and again made me long for him. "Where is he?" Because Tristan had not come to see me by now.
Dawson shook his head. "If you see someone you love, especially when you have a beast inside you. . . It does not affect the person well. For now Tristan should be kept away from you until you feel completely and he cools down."
The way he said it made me feel slightly uncomfortable and uncertain. "Is he going to hurt me?"
Dawson chuckled and shook his head. "No, no beloved can ever think of causing willing home go his mate. His instincts are going to be very protective over you and I don’t think you will find that to be comforting as human."
"And as a . . "
" A Vampire?" He completed it for me. " You will appreciate the protectiveness he shows. If he wants you to stay in a room for the entire day with him when you would actually do it because you want to." He smiled, "I shall give you some medicine for you to fall asleep again. Your body needs time to heal."
