Chapter 227: Caring for her - II

Finally after 3 days I felt better and not sleepy anymore. The infection was much worse than I imagined and my body had caught a high fever.

I woke up in between my sleep during the past three days and I could often hear People talking around me but I could never make out who was who.

I could feel Tristan many times too but I never saw him. I had no strength to open my eyes.

"Would you like to meet him?" Marilyn hesitantly asked me. She was sitting on the corner of the bed that I was partially sitting and laying on.

I knew she was talking about Tristan as much as it hurt that he had not come to visit me or I had not seen him but I understood it from work uncle Dawson had told me.

I looked out of the small window with grills on it. "I have not gone out for a long time. Perhaps to take a walk in the garden?" It was late in the evening and the sun was setting.

She pursed her lips. "Are you sure you want to talk to him? I shall rely on your message to him. It is totally your wish."

I considered changing my mind but was it not I who had constantly ignored his advice to rest as a deflection on the topic? I shook my head. "I want to meet him in the gardens." I reminded her at the end where I wanted to meet him. The room now seems to be caging me inside as a prison.

She nodded and flashed me a smile before getting up and walking out of the room. After some time she walked back with a cute smile on her face and sat beside me. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"I shall comb your hair quickly," she whispered to me, "we do not want you to exert you since you are going to walk down the stairs. Would you like someone else to carry you if you want?"

Carry me? How weak were they considering me for this? "I think I can walk Marylin. It will be a short walk in the garden but I will walk on my own." I said with determination in my voice. I was not going to let anyone even have my two legs.

She combed my hair very gently. Marilyn did that from the very beginning because that was how my mother combed my hair. She ran the wooden comb in them before running her fingers to get any knots out. Then, she placed them on my right side making the mark given by Tristan visible to everyone.

She helped me stand up and it came rushing back to me. Days ago when Marilyn had first helped me out of bed after a nap my legs could not take my weight at all but today I could stand and my legs trembled only slightly.

We climbed down very slowly. Marilyn kept her hands on me and helped me throughout the journey of descending the stairs. Solomon and Bert were also walking with us and just as slow. I could see that they were waiting for me to fall or stumble and they would be ready to catch me.

Thankfully that did not happen and I had come down the stairs with only my friend’s help.

I huffed and stood still as I caught my breath. Even though it was just one flight of stairs it was more than enough for me to travel at the moment.

There he stood, watching me with impassive eyes. Tristan.

King Tristan. The king that stood in front of me with the Crown on his head. As if reading my thoughts he reached over to the crown and took it off his head as he held it out to Marilyn.

Then he held the same hand out to me and I placed mine in his. He stepped back and we moved to the garden.

We walked silently. He did not fill the silence and I did not bother too. I I just wanted to enjoy the beautiful garden. The rich green grass along with the flowers in patterns. The most luxurious ones in full bloom. The sky was in a soft hue of golden. The sun was setting and the scenery in the gardens just got more beautiful.

My eyes moved to the roses where once I remembered someone standing and my heart ringtone into pieces with the betrayal when I had not even received the loyalty.

It was with Prince Terrence and Naya.

For a moment, they took my attention. Where were they? Were they killed by Tristan?

"You are thinking of something," Tristan mused with a sigh at the end.

I looked over to him. Would he answer if I asked him about it? "What happened to the . . . . . prisoners of war?"

He glanced at me before looking ahead. "Most of them were killed. Who do you want to know about?"

I lowered my eyes to the flowers. "Terrence."

Tristan stopped walking and my hand was no longer on his grip.

I turned around and looked at him before walking towards him. I understood how he felt and it was similar to what I felt when I knew Terrence had a child out of marriage. The only difference was I was asking that out of curiosity and with no intention of betraying Tristan.

"I am only asking because they had a baby on the way. I was instructed by the queen to kill the child and the mother many times and I just wanted to know where they were." I told him sincerely. There was no reason for me to lie.

His shoulders slightly slumped. "Alive." He grunted out.

It was hard for him. I took his hand in mine. "That is enough for me to know." I smiled and he looked at it skeptically before nodding.

We stood there as he did not move and I did not want to force him. From what I could conclude from my talk with uncle Dawson Tristan was not at his best.

"Can I hug you?" He whispered like a child scared of the answer but I nodded. He could.
