Chapter 116: The Vampire - I

I frowned, husband?

My eyes widened paint fully as I remembered that I had been married to a man who was hell bent on killing me by the orders of his mother.

"Yes, yes," I heard the young girl say as I stood up and walked over to the kitchen’s entrance and slipped through it. I had taken my cloak along the way and slipped back on me as a move to the back rows of the houses which were much tighter.

My shoulders collided with many people and did not bother apologizing even looking back. It seemed like they were used to it as they were travelling to a road where only one person could walk at a time.

I gulped as I looked at the turn. There were two ways in front of me, a right one and a left one and I had to do some guess work which apparently never worked in my favour.

"God. . " I muttered under my breath. Such things never got easier, did they? Especially when it comes to saving your own life after watching your friend hang from a pole.

Can move towards the right. There could not be anything wrong with right, right?

There was something tightening my chest. I said some kind of restriction and I immediately stopped working. I gulped at the fore and sealing. Maybe it was the direction that I did not choose right and turned around immediately to walk back towards the left one.

"Oh!" I gasped at the man who stood in front of me. "Y-you!" I pointed at him as his lips lifted off in a subtle smirk.

"Me." He confirmed, "You are quite trouble causing,, are you not?"

I stared at him in fascination as to how he had managed to find me here. This was deep inside the capital where the working class lived.

"You. . .``I breathed out again in shock to find me in front of me, here and alive and breathing. How did he find me? 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Without thinking twice I raised my foot and slammed it down on his and then ran behind him into the left path that I had previously abandoned. I should have gone with it before only. I didn’t hear him running behind me which is why I only grew confident. He was not following me or I had left him from behind and with the crowd present here, he couldn’t locate a girl with a grey cloak as worn by thousands of others.

I slowed down eventually and my throat feels dry as ever. I wanted a glass of water. "Mer-" the word got stuck in my throat as I recalled that not long ago i had seen her dead body, a corpse i had seen of my very best friend who had been named a wench and a blackmagic practitioner!

I sniffed as hot tears burned my eyes making my vision immediately go blurry. It hit me harder than ever. She was dead, she was hanged to save me and who knew what other horrors had been placed on her.

I hissed when I felt someone bump into me and the man walked ahead like it was no one’s concern to who he had hit. My lip trembled as I realised that the lane was still bustling with people and I had to move away. I did not want to attract the attention of crying. I calmed myself and slowly moved forward as did the tears. I slowly walked to the side where I found a small abandoned lane in between houses where no one stood. Everyone must have gone to work.

I sat down with my back against the house as I placed my head on my knees.

Where had it all come to? From gaining love to losing it, from achieving something in one night to losing it from having one friend on my side constantly from years to losing her in one night. What had happened? How Did it happen so suddenly, in a matter of months I had lost it all?

I felt my entire body shake at the tears and the sobbing continued because I could not stop feeling it. Why me? I had dreamed of everything from the very beginning and I lost it even before I could receive it.

I sniffed loudly and raised my head. I wiped my tears and that action alone had made my cheeks entirely wet. I wiped off the snot from the edge of the cloak, completely forgetting my manners and the equites taught to me my entire life. Oh well, my governess was never meeting me anyway!

"I would have loved to lend you my shoulder but you chose to cry in a lane where there there a is cow dung,"

He had followed me, I sniffed and swallowed the next sob down, I did not want to cry. "I never took you for someone who would make fun of me." I looked at him with nothing in my eyes, not even with the love that I had previously found myself with. "Well, I hope you enjoy it, Tristan."

He laughed lightly, his strong shoulder shoo which i immediately took a notice of. They had seemed to grow broader than before. "I am one pf those who you never make fun of and enjoy it when you do not, layla," his red eyes, unlike before bore into me, "Or should i say princess Genevieve?"

"Princess Genevieve of Astria," i corrected him immediately, " I am married now."

He scoffed, "Yes, I saw that but the marriage is not registered in the eyes of your god unless you consummate it which you did not."

"Your god?" I repeated the words but then frowned when I thought about it, "what? how did you know that?"

He didn’t not answer me and stood up from where he was sitting diagonally. He walked closer and slowly made me watch him in apprehension. "Sleep," he muttered and i felt my eyes grow heavier, "you need rest my mate.’’ I heard before closing my eyes to complete darkness.
