The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 114: A friend’s death - II
By the age of ten I had always had a grown woman as my lady in waiting. She was one of my mother’s personal attendants and she would always accompany me everywhere I went. Next when I had turned fifteen years old I had assigned Marilyn to me who was two years elder to me and one of my most important confidents ever.
Even though she was a bit slow at times she had proved herself to be my best friend that I could ever ask and current stage was an evidence of this.
The noose had been tied securely against her neck and the rope was so strong that it had held her security the entire night because I could see morning dew slightly on her.
I could not believe it. I could not feel the tears that left my eyes or even if there in the first place I could not believe that my friend, the one that had been loyal to me to the very end was now hanging by a rope for an entire night just to save me.
Why did she have to go the other way when she could have followed me till the end?
I unconsciously stepped further to her without looking at anyone else when I felt my elbow we grabbed.
"What are you doing?" A young girl, probably at the age of Catherine, stopped me and held me. "You must not go close to that woman!"
"What?" My voice was croaky and I cleared my throat. "Why not? She had been hanged!" I almost cried out to the woman. My emotions were hard to control right now as not just my sister’s but now Marilyn also had been snatched away from me.
"That is a witch! Must be or at least is a traitor." She informed me with the look of hatred in her eyes. Her eyes looked at me up and down and she frowned slightly. "Where have you come from? Your cloak is wet. If you want you can come to my house for tea as my parents are not inside and they can also have your cloak by the fire to dry."
" Really?" I blinked and thanked har generously for her generosity as I followed her into a house a few lines away. It was a decent house and she immediately took my cloak and placed it near the fire as she placed the pot for boiling the water.
"So. . What about the woman?"
"Ah, yes," she mumbled and took out two biscuits for the two of us each, " It all happened in the middle of the night. We were all given festivities because the prince had been married but then they came to know around midnight when the prince arrived in his bedroom that the princess was no longer there!" She whispered with her eyes wide, probably at the happiness and excitement of sharing the gossip regarding the royal family.
"She was not there?" I had a completely shocked expression on my face but it was a complete contrast to hers.
She nodded hurriedly. "They searched around the entire palace for finding her Royal highness The Princess but no one found anything. You won’t believe what they found in the maid’s rooms."
"What?"
She leaned in and even though we were alone in the room she looked here and there making sure that no one was listening in. "They foundblack magic dolls and ashes in her room."
I sighed and leaned back. Of course, this was what the palace would do. It was obvious that the people that we had as subjects who were god fearing people and anything regarding hell, demons or even black magic scared them into complete submission.
Queen Anastasia had played really well here. She has executed Marilyn and made sure that everyone in the capital would not even go near her corpse which is why she had not been brought down yet.
My hands tight and interface as I remember how my friend was hanging from a piece of wood. The nose was hanging around her bruised neck. How her head had fallen to the side . . .
I might have let out a small sniffle because the girl noticed immediately and came to me frowning.
"Do not worry my friend," she said, coming close to me and placed her hand on my shoulder, "The Princess would be found and that wench has been punished already. It is only a matter of time that the Guards and the royal family will rescue The Princess from whatever dark fate has fallen on her. He will be her night in shining armour!" She swooned in her own dreams.
If only she knew what the real life princes were like, she would take her was back at any cost. Especially the princess Thai had been married to and she was calling my knight in shining armour, he was anything but that.
"Do not call her a wench." I felt a sudden gush of anger in my body as I remembered her words. Marilyn was anything but that. She was a respectable woman with a charming personality and a woman of character. If anything the queen was the one who was the wench.
"Oh. ." The girl stared me down, "I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. You rather seem like a person who who does not belong in this country. Otherwise you would never say anything for a traitor who has been hanged like that." She turned her nose up at me. "Either you must correct your words or I think you may leave all together. No one in this country tolerates anything against the royal family!"
I scoffed. " The royal family seems to be a good leading one, since you are respecting them with such intensity."
She ndoded firmly, "They are."
I opened mouth the say something else when the door was not and the girl looked up immediately frowning slightly.
"Yes?" I heard her say as she had worked there and opened the door.
"Good afternoon miss I believe my wife is inside. Would you be so kind to let her know that I am here."
