The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 672 - Absurd Defense
Back in the Soul Kingdom, Han Wu had received Jing Jing’s message and was rushing toward her. As the distance between them closed, the thread became thicker, allowing her to send more information to him.
It seemed the Soul Kingdom was actually Huangquan’s Microcosm. Everything in this place had been turned into souls, and only souls could live here.
Every soul living in residence had to pay tax to Huangquan. Stronger souls had to pay more, and they often ended up targeting the soul points of the weaker souls just so they could stay for longer.
Survival had not been an issue for Jing Jing and Qin Shuang, but their excellence caused them to stand out.
As a skeleton, Jing Jing had kept her use of osteomancy even after turning into a soul. In the Soul Kingdom, where every soul was fragile, osteomancy was like a handgun against defenseless humans. It was rather overpowered.
The flashiness of Qin Shuang’s lightning had also gained its fair share of popularity, and many souls sought their powers. Even the officials in charge of collecting taxes wanted them as well.
However, there were rules in place. Officials couldn’t attack them directly, so they instead increased the tax to reduce their strength. When Han Wu learned this, he was naturally furious. He swore to kill all who dared to touch them!
Han Wu’s solid Divine Soul moved extremely fast and soon neared their location. Many souls were gathered in the area. Using Oversight, he confirmed that the souls had Jing Jing and Qin Shuang surrounded, wielding various weapons like cocky street hooligans.
Fortunately, Han Wu was even more of a hooligan than they were.
Grabbing a random soul from the back, he destroyed them with a single slap. The soul was so weak that it only gave him two soul points. Regardless, Han Wu continued to attack. The solidity of his Divine Soul granted him speed and strength that surpassed the others, allowing him to defeat many souls in one go.
Jing Jing sensed Han Wu’s arrival through the thread of faith and told the good news to Qin Shuang. Qin Shuang’s lightning reflexively flared from her joy, killing the three souls in front of her.
The leader of the group was angered at her assault. Still, he needed to keep everything under control, so he sent his deputy to deal with the ruckus at the back.
Upon heading to the back of the group, the deputy was horrified to see Han Wu killing souls like they were nothing. Han Wu didn’t even use any special Skills or abilities, simply slaughtering them with his bare hands.
Han Wu’s power shocked the deputy. It was useless to send lackeys to take on a soul as powerful as the deputy himself, so he shouted for them to retreat while he fought Han Wu head-on.
The deputy took off his clothes to reveal his muscular torso lined with a tattoo of a fierce, venomous snake. Every movement caused the snake tattoo to writhe as if it were alive.
“Brother, I am the deputy of the Venomous Snake Sect,” the deputy introduced. “Who are you?”
This clarification was a measure to prevent infighting amongst allies and to prevent him from slighting someone he couldn’t afford to offend.
Han Wu was neither. “I’m no one. I just want to help the weak when I can.”
The deputy frowned, internally labelling Han Wu a reckless but powerful individual.
“Brother, what if we struck a deal?” proposed the deputy. “I’ll pretend I saw nothing. Turn around, and we won’t charge you for the damage you did.”
Han Wu shook his head. “The beauties need me to save them. I am justice, and I will not let it slide.”
The deputy groaned. Justice? You just want their bodies!
“Then there’s nothing to talk about.” Finally losing his patience, the deputy attacked.
Although both Han Wu and the deputy had powerful moves, Han Wu actually started on the back foot. However, as the battle continued, the deputy gradually came to realize the terror that was Han Wu.
Han Wu’s soul was strong beyond belief. A regular soul simply couldn’t compare to a Divine Soul. After all, Han Wu had spent 50,000 Divine Essence on it!
Several clashes soon saw the deputy wounded and weakened.
Still, he refused to give in and continued to fight Han Wu in close range. When Han Wu was distracted, he bounced his chest muscles, and the tattoo of the snake came alive, biting Han Wu. Having accomplished his goal, the deputy backed off.
“This is the Five-Step Soul Snake. Its venom can kill you in five seconds!”
Han Wu calmly pulled the snake off his body. The deputy froze, his laughter abruptly cutting off when he realized there was no mark of a snake bite on Han Wu.
The deputy stared as the snake spat out two sharp objects. Han Wu’s durable body had snapped its fangs! Horror settled in the pit of the deputy’s stomach.
Han Wu chuckled. “You rascal, you’re more cunning than I expected.”
“Wait, don’t come any closer!” the deputy cried, body trembling.
Unfortunately for him, his pleas fell on deaf ears. Han Wu landed several punches on his face, dispersing his soul. The eight points Han Wu gained from his death showed that the deputy was actually powerful. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
The deputy’s soul also dropped a luminous orb. Han Wu picked it up and saw that it was the method to nurture the Five-Step Soul Snake. It was a dirty move, but undeniably useful.
Han Wu couldn’t use it, nor did he want to, but he kept it regardless. When the other lackeys saw Han Wu kill their deputy, they immediately started backing up. Ignoring them, Han Wu approached the boss, who was still facing away.
The boss of the Venomous Snake Sect had a tattoo of two even fiercer snakes—one python and one cobra. As if sensing a chill at his back, he turned around to see Han Wu behind him.
Glancing around in bewilderment, he asked, “Where’s my deputy? Where has he gone?’
