The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 673 - Let Me Send You Off!
None of the lackeys answered him. Han Wu didn’t say anything either, simply grabbing the boss’s collar and slapping him senseless. The boss was in shock.
The boss’s soul was extremely tough. Although not as tough as Han Wu’s, it still wasn’t something he could defeat within a short period of time, and the boss snapped out of it fairly quickly.
“You dare to hit me, and in front of my lackeys at that? Do you think my reputation means nothing to me? You’re dead!”
The boss flew into a rage. His python tattoo came alive, unhinging its jaw to devour Han Wu and thrashing in the air as it tried to swallow him whole.
Neither Jing Jing nor Qin Shuang could react to its swift attack.
“Don’t think you’ll make it out of this alive either!” The boss threatened the two girls while manipulating the python.
Though tense, Qin Shuang readied herself to save Han Wu, even at the cost of her own life.
Jing Jing pulled her aside and calmed her down. “My God wouldn’t be my God if he can’t even deal with a minor problem like this.”
Half of Han Wu’s Divine Soul was stuck inside the python, unable to break free with just his strength. At this critical moment, he used Black Water Clone, causing clones to appear in the mouth of the python.
The python crushed them with its jaw, and the resulting black water flowed down into its body. The corrosive properties of the black water eroded its guts, allowing Han Wu to break free. While physically fine, Han Wu was mentally scarred from the experience, and he was left feeling nauseated from the whole thing.
The boss was stunned that his technique had been disabled so easily. Spending more soul points to summon an even larger python, he tried again.
“I’ll swallow you whole this time!”
Han Wu retched. “What else can you do besides tainting my body with snake spit?”
Furious, the boss ordered the python to attack, but Jing Jing and Qin Shuang were ready this time. They fired a bone spear filled with lightning energy, pinning the python to the ground.
Crackling lightning surged through both the python and the boss. The boss of the Venomous Snake Sect was charred black before fainting. When the lackeys saw their boss had been defeated, they immediately fled, fearing they would be next.
Han Wu ran up to the two girls and hugged them. “I’m so glad both of you are fine.”
Relieved elation stirred within the two girls. They felt like a ship finding its harbor when they saw Han Wu—a reliable pillar that meant they no longer needed to worry anymore.
“The main group will arrive soon. As long as I’m here, they can easily detect where we are,” he informed.
But Qin Shuang couldn’t shake her worry. “Han Wu, we just defeated the Venomous Snake Sect. The officials responsible for collecting taxes in this region will never let us go. The Venomous Snake Sect is their fangs and claws.”
“Who won’t forgive whom?” Han Wu scoffed. “I’ll show them.”
Jing Jing smiled. Her God was truly the manliest. After the three talked a little, Han Wu glanced at the boss on the ground. The boss had actually woken up, but had not dared to twitch so much as a muscle and was simply waiting for them to leave.
Aware of this, Han Wu kicked the boss. “Stop pretending. You may only speak to answer my questions, and my questions only. You can leave after I’m done with you. But if I find out you lied, you’ll have to bear the consequences.” 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
The boss of the Venomous Snake Sect was a wily bastard. Turning to face Han Wu, he unhesitatingly knelt before him and vowed, “I’ll tell you everything that I know.”
Much to his confusion, Han Wu slapped him.
“Did I ask you anything?” Han Wu sneered. “I told you not to speak unless you’re answering my questions!”
The boss nodded.
Han Wu slapped him again. “I was talking to you. Why didn’t you reply?”
The boss held onto his cheek like a wronged wife, inwardly daydreaming of beating Han Wu to a pulp.
“Are you deaf? I’m talking to you.” Han Wu slapped his other cheek.
The boss held his cheeks, belatedly realizing that Han Wu didn’t need his cooperation at all. He just wanted to slap him.
“No, I’m not deaf,” replied the boss.
Han Wu nodded. “Answer my question. What relationship do you have with the officials here?”
The boss hesitated.
“Are you thinking about lying to me?” Han Wu slapped him once more.
“No,” the boss said meekly. Though upset and indignant after getting slapped so many times, there was nothing he could do. “The officials are my guards while we collect protection fees. We split the soul points three-seven to them.”
“They keep the 30%, and you keep 70%?”
The boss gave him an incredulous look.
Han Wu slapped him again. “You dare to show me disrespect?”
The boss sighed. He would rather Han Wu kill him than do this humiliation ritual. This was the first time he had ever felt this depth of despair. After a long interrogation, Han Wu finally obtained all the information he needed, and the boss’s face was as red as a baboon’s butt.
“I’ve told you everything I know. Can I leave now?” the boss begged, already planning to leave this place with his lackeys the moment he returned.
It was one thing to offend the officials. He could just pay them. Meanwhile, offending Han Wu meant likely losing his life. He had planned to hide far away from this place and never return.
Han Wu nodded. “You can leave. Here, let me send you off.”
With that, he crushed the boss’s neck, dissipating his soul. Han Wu absorbed a tenth of it and received 10 soul points. Two luminous orbs had also been left behind.
The first recorded the nurturing of the Spirit Python, and the second the Spirit Cobra. As long as one could absorb it, they could get the technique and merge it with their soul.
“Do you want them?” Han Wu asked the two girls.
Jing Jing shook her head as she didn’t like the spirit snakes. Qin Shuang, however, was interested.
“I can try to fuse it with my lightning,” she said, taking the orb containing the Spirit Cobra technique from Han Wu. “I could get a very good skill from it.”
Han Wu nodded. Then, thinking about his Black Water Clones, he muttered, “Let me try and merge the Spirit Python with the black water.”
Fortunately, Han Wu still had some upgrade points left over.
