The Last Monarch : Unlimited Regeneration-Chapter 64: Royal Palace
Chapter 64: Royal Palace
The sky above the capital city of Valantharia was bright today. Not too hot, and not raining either. The city bustled as usual—merchants shouting to sell their goods, children running through the crowds, and soldiers patrolling with stiff, disciplined steps.
But one thing was different today—Alvaric had arrived, bringing with him fury and vengeance.
The carriage that carried him and Tamae rolled through the main road, drawing curious stares from the townsfolk. Not because the carriage was luxurious—on the contrary, it looked plain. But the aura emitted by its passenger was strange... and disturbing. Overflowing with murderous intent.
The carriage stopped right at the grand courtyard leading to the Royal Palace of Valantharia. This was the furthest Tamae could escort him.
"This is as far as I go," said Tamae as she stepped down from the carriage first. She stood by the door, gazing at Alvaric, who still sat inside.
Alvaric slowly opened his eyes. The air in the capital felt different—heavy, pressing... and filled with magic that felt off. As if someone was watching him from somewhere unseen. He felt curious, but there was no time to investigate.
He stepped down from the carriage.
The palace before him towered high. Crystal pillars, walls layered with defensive magic, and tight security. Dozens of guards stood watch before the massive gate, all wearing full armor and wielding powerful magical weapons.
"Thank you," said Alvaric.
Before Alvaric could walk forward, Tamae placed a hand on his shoulder. Feeling her touch, Alvaric turned to look at her. Tamae’s expression was worried. She couldn’t even meet his gaze directly. There was a trace of guilt in her chest.
"Are you really going to do this?" she asked softly. Her eyes were serious—not like a soldier’s, but like someone trying to save another from a wrong choice. "You won’t win against them. If you want to back down, now is the time." She tried to dissuade him.
Alvaric stared at Tamae for a moment. His face was calm, but in his eyes, there was unhealed rage and pain. The death of Niva still burned in his memory. If he didn’t avenge her, Alvaric felt he would be the most foolish, unworthy friend.
He had to take revenge. Even if it killed him. He had to do it—for his pride, and for Niva’s death.
"Yes," Alvaric replied. "I must avenge Niva. Whether it kills me or not."
Tamae took a slow breath. "Then my task ends here." She stepped back three paces and looked at the carriage. "I won’t interfere. As agreed... I only brought you here. The rest—it’s all up to you."
Alvaric nodded. "That’s more than enough."
Tamae looked at Alvaric’s back one last time before turning away, climbing back into the carriage, and leaving as far as she could. She would remain in the capital for a while, but she didn’t want to be involved in the battle. She knew it would be devastating.
"Good luck."

Meanwhile, Alvaric stood facing the palace gates, roughly 200 meters from where he stood. The atmosphere around him began to shift. The guards at the gate raised their spears, sensing the killing aura now radiating from Alvaric.
He began walking.
"Who are you?! No one is allowed to approach the palace without permission!" one of the guards shouted.
Alvaric did not answer. He slowly raised his hands. Vapper’s Dagger and the Crimson Sword Demon appeared in his grip.

Instantly, the sky turned red. A strange moon appeared, and everyone in the capital felt something off in their bodies.

The guards at the gate immediately readied themselves. They formed a combat line to stop Alvaric.
"Kill him!" one of them shouted.
Several guards charged forward, but with just one slash, their heads were severed—falling to the ground, blood spraying.
The remaining guards panicked. One of them turned around, intending to report to the king or the generals, but at that moment, Alvaric hurled Vapper’s Dagger.
Shuush!
Plap!
The soldier collapsed, his body pierced clean through. The rest trembled in fear.
"Damn it. What the hell is this?"
"You all must pay for Niva’s death," said Alvaric.
He vanished suddenly. His movement was so fast that he appeared right in front of another guard. No time to react. A small slash, and the guard’s body was cleaved in half.
The body hit the ground. Alvaric turned toward the two remaining guards.
"Who are you?!" one of them shouted.
"It’s pointless for me to explain. You will die."
Alvaric cut his own arm. As his blood dripped to the ground, he caught his arm and reattached it.
The guards were horrified. "What kind of creature is he? How is this possible..."
Alvaric moved his fingers. A second later, blood needles shot through the skulls of the last two guards.
They didn’t even realize they were dead. Their bodies dropped, blood trickling from the backs of their heads.

Alvaric faced the palace. "You all must feel what Niva felt."
He began walking toward the gate, but just as he was about to enter, dozens of new soldiers appeared, blocking his way with full weapons and armor.
"Stop right there!" one of them shouted.
Alvaric was not a guest. He charged forward and began his assault. The soldiers were ready—but they were no match for Alvaric.
"You’re all just trash."

The king sat in his chambers. He had just slept with several of his concubines. As he turned toward the window—
That’s when he saw it. A strange phenomenon. The sky had turned blood red.
"What is this?"
He opened the window, and at that moment, he saw it clearly. A crimson moon that shouldn’t exist. The sun had been replaced.
"Is the god angry?"
A second later, his chamber doors burst open. Two generals entered in a rush, running straight to the king.
"Your Majesty, you must come with us! You need to hide immediately," one of them said.
The king looked confused. "What’s happening?"
"There’s an attack at the front."
The king frowned. "Has the coup begun?"
The two generals shook their heads. "No. This is different. A strange being appeared at the gates. We’re trying to stop him now. You must hide until things escalate further."
The king was unsure. He didn’t feel the need to hide, but the generals looked desperate.
"Your safety is our priority. So please, cooperate," they begged.
The king nodded. "Very well. Lead me."
The two generals nodded back. They moved quickly and left the room at once.
