Chapter 65: Royal Palace (Part 2)

Alvaric went completely berserk. No one could stop him. Nearly a hundred soldiers had already been killed by him alone. It even made the remaining soldiers hesitate to move forward. They didn’t want to die, but their duty was to protect the palace.

"Come on, you bastards!" Alvaric taunted.

He moved his finger. A second later, dozens of blood needles burst out. They floated in the air, and more and more appeared over time.

No one dared to move. Some soldiers even pushed each other, trying to get someone else to confront Alvaric instead.

"I’m all alone. Meanwhile, there are... more than a thousand of you. Why are you the ones trembling in fear? Aren’t you supposed to be the superior race that sees every other creature as a threat to be destroyed?" Alvaric mocked.

Skill-wise, Alvaric only had three abilities: Blood Domination, Enhanced Regeneration, and Shield Regeneration. He couldn’t use magic, except for manipulating his own blood. He didn’t wear any strong or expensive armor either. Alvaric was bare-chested, wearing only short pants.

Perhaps the most special thing about him was his two weapons: the Crimson Sword Demon and Vapper’s Dagger. Other than that, he looked just like an ordinary human. Yet no one dared to challenge him. He stood there alone.

"If that’s how it is, I’ll be the one to move forward!" Alvaric shouted.

He channeled Mana to the tips of his feet. With a strong stomp, Alvaric vanished. All the soldiers looked around in panic, their eyes darting in every direction, hoping they wouldn’t be the next target. Their bodies trembled, paralyzed by the fear of death.

"Aaaargh!" one soldier screamed.

All eyes turned toward the source of the scream. But Alvaric was no longer there. He appeared on the opposite side. A second later, another similar scream echoed from that direction.

But again, when they looked there, Alvaric was already gone. He reappeared on yet another side.

"Arrrggh!" another scream came from their ranks.

Some soldiers were so terrified they turned around and started running.

"I don’t want to die! Out of my way!" they shouted.

Alvaric, now fully consumed by rage, stared sharply at them. He positioned himself to strike with a deadly slash. He took a deep breath. The ground beneath him began to tremble under the pressure of his aura.

"You will all die."

Slash!

With one powerful swing, he unleashed a devastating slash. In just a single swing of his sword, nearly a hundred more soldiers were slain. Their heads flew off and fell to the ground. Blood sprayed everywhere, staining the earth red. The soldiers standing in the far back were stunned.

They froze in fear. Instinctively, they touched their necks. No blood. Immediately, they turned around and fled.

Alvaric hated this. He got into the same stance again. One more sword swing. It should have wiped out the remaining soldiers. But something happened.

Ting!

Alvaric’s slash was blocked. A moment later, seven demi-humans appeared, each armed with their own weapon. Alvaric grinned. This was what he’d been waiting for—the seven main generals. The opponents he really wanted to fight.

"Come forward, all of you! I’ve been waiting for this!" Alvaric challenged.

One of the seven demi-humans stepped forward. His body was large and covered in shining silver fur. His eyes glowed yellow, and his weapon was a double-headed axe, larger than a grown man.

"You’re overconfident," he said in a deep voice. "We are not opponents you can defeat. We are far stronger, and you will die."

But Alvaric only grinned, his crimson eyes glowing with fury and madness. "You’re the generals? I’ve been waiting for you all. Good," he said casually.

"We don’t know why you’re so confident or why you attacked the palace. But whatever your reason is, you will still die here."

Alvaric looked completely relaxed. "You’re the ones who are overconfident. If you’re truly stronger than me, then fight me one-on-one."

None of them responded to his challenge. No one moved at all. That made Alvaric bored, and he got ready to attack.

Without warning, one of the demi-humans dashed forward to strike first. A lean-bodied creature wielding twin blades charged at Alvaric with lightning-fast movements. His speed was so incredible that even Alvaric had difficulty keeping up.

Blash!

Alvaric’s head fell to the ground. Blood dripped from his neck. The general smiled, thinking he had won. But what happened next left him stunned.

Alvaric squatted down, picked up his head, and reattached it to his neck. In just one second, it fully reconnected.

All the generals there were shocked. None of them expected such a thing to be possible. It was beyond their understanding.

"What kind of insane ability is that?" one general cursed.

"Be careful! We’re no longer fighting a living creature. I think he’s already at the level of a demigod," said another.

"Demigod?"

"I don’t know... but no mortal can regenerate like that."

The others nodded in agreement. Alvaric’s regeneration was insane. Whatever his enemies did, they couldn’t kill him.

"We’ll have to work together," one of them suggested.

The others nodded. Alvaric was too strong to face alone. In an instant, they spread out and surrounded Alvaric from different directions, forming a circle.

"What do you plan to do?" Alvaric gave a wicked smile. "That won’t work on me."

They kept their distance, observing him more closely. Then, suddenly, they all charged and launched their attacks.

The real battle had just begun.

In a distant place, a horse-drawn carriage was nearing the capital. It was a convoy from the city of Vashtraal. The carriage was elegant and luxurious—because the one arriving at the capital was the ruler of Vashtraal.

A beautiful serpent-woman. One of the most stunning women in the entire kingdom of Valantharia.

"My Lady, I suggest you return! There’s chaos happening at the palace. It’s dangerous for you to be here," pleaded one of the city gate guards.

In front of the gate, dozens of guards were stationed. An unusual sight. Clearly, something bad was going on.

However, the ruler of Vashtraal showed no signs of turning back.

"I will be careful."

"But, my Lady..."

The ruler’s bodyguard stepped forward. Her eyes were sharp and cold. At that moment, the gate guards immediately nodded.

They didn’t dare to get in the way any further.

"Very well. You may enter, but please be careful!" said the city guards.

The woman nodded. The carriage began to move. She and her bodyguard exchanged glances. Both of them nodded.

"Just as you predicted."
