More than an hour later, the skies had already darkened considerably when Vale and I stepped out from the tailor’s cabin.

Just as the name implied, it was a cabin where a tailor stayed.

After taking our measurements, she quickly designed gear for us.

Mine was a black, tight-fitting cloth that covered my body completely. Along with it came a mask to hide my identity.

Vale’s own was quite similar, only that it carried a faint hint of femininity.

Dressed, we both entered the carriage, and Vale ordered the driver to take us to the outskirts of the city where the cursed gate was situated.

The cursed gate wasn’t anything new.

Although it had barely appeared for roughly a day, the whole city had already been alerted to it, taking precautions and safety measures to prevent an outbreak of cursed monsters.

Some rogue cursed warriors had entered the cursed gate in search of cursed relics and artifacts that could aid them in the long run.

While others, claiming to be ’good samaritans,’ had entered the cursed gate to drastically reduce the number of cursed creatures present inside it.

Everyone had different goals in mind regarding the cursed gate, including those who went to further their research on the source of the cursed energy.

Gradually, Vale explained all this to me as we finally arrived at the location.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of the carriage after Vale. It would be the first time since coming to this world that I would encounter a cursed gate. I couldn’t help the faint feeling of nervousness settling in my chest.

Finally, I stepped out, and in my direct line of sight I noticed more than fifty people, some dressed in battle suits as they gathered around what seemed to be the gate.

Ahead, I noticed what looked like a crack suspended in midair.

The crack emitted a pale blue light, as though quietly inviting one into the world of cursed monsters.

I noticed a slightly middle-aged man approaching the crack. Just when he was barely three meters away from it, a terrifying suction force appeared in the air. His figure blurred and he was forcefully pulled into the cursed gate.

’Damnnn,’ I couldn’t help exclaiming internally.

Vale smiled, clearly noticing my reaction. "Your first time seeing a cursed gate?"

I nodded subconsciously.

"That’s one of the reasons we had to get the suits. Without a strong enough body, you can die from the forceful pull of the gate."

"That happens?" I asked, raising a brow in surprise.

Vale nodded. "Yeah. More often than you think."

I drew in a sharp breath, my gaze shifting back to the gate.

’There seems to be something strange about this gate...’ I muttered internally.

It was as though I could feel a vague connection to it, but at the same time, I didn’t understand what the feeling meant...

’Am I connected to the cursed creatures in a way?’

Quickly, I shook my head. ’That can’t be possible. At least not for me. However, my predecessor... was the strange one...’

Deciding to keep my thoughts and feelings to myself, I remained silent.

We proceeded to wait for a few minutes for two more succubus to arrive before finally deciding to enter the cursed gate.

Gradually, we shortened the distance between us and the gate until we finally arrived at it.

"You want to go in first?" Vale asked, to which I quickly shook my head and gestured for her to lead the way.

Chuckling, Vale closed the distance, and just as she was within three meters of the gate, a violent suction erupted and pulled her straight into it.

Following her, I also quickened my steps and walked towards the gate.

Strangely, the moment I arrived within three meters of the gate, there was no suction force between me and it.

Confused, I continued walking closer, still feeling nothing.

Finally, I arrived at the edge of the gate. Standing right in front of it, my mind filled with questions.

’What the hell is going on?’

I was slightly startled, but I quickly composed myself.

Stretching my hand lightly, the crack rippled faintly, as though recognizing my presence. A moment later, a gentle warmth wrapped around me and slowly dragged me inside.

My perception shifted drastically as my location changed, and I appeared inside the cursed gate.

Meanwhile, in the outside world, two officials stood not far from the gate, carefully studying it and everyone going in and out.

The moment they noticed the strange situation occurring, their expressions changed instantly.

"Did you see that?" the old man asked his comrade, needing confirmation he wasn’t imagining things.

His comrade’s eyes were still wide with shock. "Although it was subtle, we’ve studied cursed gates for decades... and there was something particularly different about that..."

The old man rubbed his chin in deep thought. Finally, he took out something that looked like a communication tool and spoke into it.

"Tell the officials to send some officers to surround the premises of the gate. Something strange has just happened and we need to know exactly what it was."

There was no delay or hesitation in his words.

Tension was already brewing between cursed creatures and cursed warriors, with rumors of another legendary war slowly spreading. There was no way they could afford to take chances with a situation like this.

Unaware of the situation in the outside world, Aristarkh arrived inside the cursed gate.

Immediately, a wave of irritation rushed through his body, and the urge to puke his guts out was hard to suppress.

Struggling to control it, I quickly circulated my cursed energy, feeling the wave of discomfort disappear at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"The first time anyone arrives at a cursed gate, their body becomes slightly disoriented by the cursed energy and tries to adapt to it. Note that this process might take a few days or even weeks," Vale explained from the side, her hand lightly passing through the thick mist of cursed energy around us.

Finally, I was able to observe my surroundings.

The sun, if it could even be called that, hung in the sky, while thick whitish-blue mist spread across the entire area, covering everything in fog.

One could barely see a few meters ahead before their vision started turning blurry again.

"It seems the concentration of cursed energy inside this cursed gate is truly... abnormal," Vale pondered quietly.

"Your Highness... could it be a treasure?" one of the succubuses that came with us glanced at Vale and asked curiously.

Vale scanned the area before finally nodding. "It seems there’s a peculiar treasure in this place. Otherwise, there’s no way such a dense amount of cursed energy would exist."

Her words immediately lit excitement in the eyes of the two girls.

If they were successful in obtaining the treasure, then they would definitely be rewarded handsomely... or perhaps they might even get a share of it.

"Everyone stay on high alert. This is a dangerous cursed gate and we need to treat it as such. Our first goal is to locate the queen in the north. After locating her, we will find the treasure as well. That should be her objective."

’Since sister decided to enter this cursed gate all for this treasure, then she must cherish it... almost as much as her life,’ Vale thought, a faint smirk forming at the corner of her lips.
