Evening arrived, and Ling Feng was preparing dinner when the two young people returned to the doorway.

"Mr. Ling!"

Ling Feng looked up at the two, "How did it go? Did you find anything?"

One of them said, "We’ve collected some information and clues, which we need to take back for analysis and comparison. We probably won’t have results until tomorrow."

Ling Feng nodded, "Good, tomorrow is soon enough. I’ll be waiting!"

After watching the two drive away, Ling Feng was about to return to his room, only to see Xun Qianqian and Li Fei’er coming from the west end of the village, hopping and skipping joyfully.

He waited in the doorway for a while, and soon the two women approached him.

"Did you go out to play in the mountains?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.

Li Fei’er looked at him seriously, and seeing that his expression was normal, she giggled, "Yes, you were so fierce before, we didn’t dare to play with you!"

"I was wrong, I got a bit impatient," Ling Feng quickly admitted.

Xun Qianqian looked at him, "So how is it now? Did you find the person who stole the stuff?"

Ling Feng shook his head, "Not yet, but I believe it will be soon."

"That’s good, what’s for dinner tonight? I’m so hungry!"

After saying that, Xun Qianqian stepped into the house.

"You’re eating here tonight? What about Yu Mei?" Ling Feng turned to ask.

"We have a holiday, don’t we? My sister went back to her parents’ home!" said Xun Qianqian as she plopped down into a seat.

Ling Feng was surprised, "Huh, why didn’t she tell me when she was leaving? How did she go? Did you take her back?"

"Why are you so worried? Someone came to pick her up!" Xun Qianqian gave him a glance.

"Picked her up? Who?"

Ling Feng grew more curious and pulled over a stool, sitting in front of Xun Qianqian.

"A guy, very young, and handsome too!" Xun Qianqian’s eyes twinkled.

"What!"

Ling Feng was shocked, but noticing the sly glint in Xun Qianqian’s eyes, he instantly realized he had been tricked!

As expected, seeing his agitation made Xun Qianqian burst into laughter before she added, "Don’t be so nervous, it was my cousin!"

"Cousin? Yu Mei has a brother?"

Ling Feng was taken aback as he had never heard of this before!

"You didn’t know? Well, it’s not surprising. My cousin is usually away, and he only comes back during Chinese New Year," Xun Qianqian explained.

"So that’s how it is!"

Ling Feng finally understood and nodded, "No wonder you came to mooch off my dinner, you had nowhere else to eat tonight."

"Yes, and today I’m not only going to eat here, but I’m also expecting a feast!" Xun Qianqian said, pouting.

Ling Feng looked at her, noticing she was becoming more like Li Fei’er lately, starting to act coquettishly and cute.

He smiled and pointed to the freezer, "Everything’s in there. You go take a look and see what kind of feast you can make."

Xun Qianqian didn’t hesitate, sprung up, and opened the freezer, only to pout immediately, "It’s all empty, there’s nothing to eat!"

"That’s right, even the best cook can’t make bricks without straw. Don’t blame me!" Ling Feng chuckled.

Unfortunately, Xun Qianqian wasn’t having any of it and spun around, "If there’s none left, we can buy some. Give me some money, and I’ll go shopping in town!"

Ling Feng, speechless, watched as she stretched out her hand towards him. He shook his head helplessly and patted his pants pocket.

"Heh heh, it’s not that I don’t want to give you any, I just don’t have any money! My pockets are cleaner than my face!" Ling Feng spread his hands.

"You!" Xun Qianqian was at a loss for words, fuming.

Next to her, Li Fei’er couldn’t watch anymore and gave Ling Feng a glare, "Stingy uncle!"

After saying that, she grabbed Xun Qianqian’s hand, "Sis, I have money, let’s just go buy it ourselves."

"Oh my, I’ve got some too, I just wanted to make him pay!" Xun Qianqian said as they walked out.

Watching the two leave, Ling Feng shook his head helplessly.

A moment later, the roaring sound of a motorcycle kicked up as Xun Qianqian, with Li Fei’er in tow, appeared at the doorway, "We’ll be back soon, you can start cooking later!"

"Got it!" Ling Feng said with a wry smile.

As he watched them speed off, the wait that ensued turned into a solid half-hour.

Li Shiyun, having finished her tasks, came over and saw Ling Feng sitting at the doorstep. Out of curiosity, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"The two gluttons wanted a feast, and since we had no food at home, they went off to buy some," Ling Feng replied.

Li Shiyun chuckled and sat down next to him, "You really do spoil Fei’er."

Ling Feng turned to look at her, "Really? I haven’t noticed. You’re not jealous, are you?"

Glancing at him, Li Shiyun shook her head, "If I were that petty, I would probably have died of anger by now, right?"

"Hehe."

Ling Feng chuckled awkwardly and slipped an arm around her shoulder, looking at the setting sun, "Looks like we’ll have to wait until nightfall then."

"Are you talking about the Illusionary Ring? I’m not in a hurry," Li Shiyun said softly.

"Why not? Aren’t you curious?" Ling Feng asked, puzzled.

"Of course, I’m curious, but I’m not like you. Going with the flow suits me just fine; I don’t desire to become much stronger," Li Shiyun replied.

Ling Feng smiled, "I haven’t really thought much about it either. I just happened upon it, and it’d be a waste not to use it."

The pair chatted cozily together until they heard the rumble of an engine at the entrance of the village. Xun Qianqian and Li Fei’er had finally returned.

After parking the motorcycle, both women carried their hefty bundles off the bike. Ling Feng was astonished, "Did you buy so much? Can you finish all of this in one meal?"

"Who said it’s for one meal? Your freezer is empty and you didn’t even think to buy anything. We’re stocking up for later!" Li Fei’er said, her tone that of a little adult chiding him.

Ling Feng, resigned, said, "Alright, I’m going to cook!"

Afterward, all four of them got to work and prepared a lavish dinner as the sun set.

Having heard about the Illusionary Ring from Li Fei’er, Xun Qianqian kept asking about it during dinner, and after they finished eating, she pestered Ling Feng to let her join him to see it for herself.

With no way to refuse, everyone cleaned up and then reconvened in the back room, ready to explore that brand new world.

"Get ready, it’s time to witness a miracle!"

Ling Feng said with a smile. Everyone held hands, and with a single thought from him, they vanished from the room.

"Wow, it’s daylight here!"

"Why can’t I see the sun?"

Xun Qianqian and Li Fei’er chattered away as they stood on the lawn, while the more composed Li Shiyun stayed silent and observed the surroundings curiously.

Ling Feng led them to a stone and asked, "Is the First Layer dangerous? Is it safe for ordinary people to go in?"

"No comment."

He’d hoped to show off the stone’s unique powers to the group but was unexpectedly shut down, which was quite humiliating!
