Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 182: Defenders
Myles, Victor, and George ran at the very front of the formation. Daniel, Clara, and Kade followed several meters behind them, keeping their pace steady while watching the surroundings carefully.
At the very back of the group, Ethan and Samantha continued running while holding their weapons ready.
As the long-range attackers, their vision extended farther than the others. While the rest of the group focused on charging forward, Ethan suddenly narrowed his eyes toward the top of the distant wall.
"I see something!" he shouted while still running.
Myles glanced back briefly. "What is it?"
Ethan squinted harder, trying to sharpen his vision while maintaining his speed.
"There are figures on top of the wall," he said. "Several of them."
Samantha also lifted her gaze toward the distant battlements.
"They look like humans," Ethan continued after a moment. "But their clothing is strange."
Samantha studied the silhouettes more carefully as they ran.
"Some are wearing cloth robes," she added. "Others are in metal armor. The ones in cloth also wear wide pointed hats."
Ethan nodded grimly. "Then they must be the magic casters who attacked us earlier!"
The conclusion was obvious.
They were not just dealing with a wall that was shooting magic attacks. They were facing the defensive force of an entire city.
The realization settled heavily in Myles’ mind as he continued charging forward. His grip tightened around the two blades in his hands.
He knew they had grown stronger. Every battle inside the tower had pushed them further beyond their old limits.
But the enemies ahead were not just monsters or small groups. It was a city.
For a moment doubt surfaced in his mind. Then a dark shape descended from above.
Lilian swooped down beside him, her jet-black wings spreading wide as she glided through the air like a majestic raven. Her presence carried the same ancient aura as before, powerful and unshaken.
"You don’t need to worry," she said calmly while flying beside him. "You and your companions are strong enough. And besides, I will also help in this fight."
Her red eyes gleamed slightly.
The moment those words reached him, the hesitation inside Myles vanished. It was as if Lilian could hear his thoughts.
The doubt that had briefly clouded his thoughts disappeared as if blown away by a strong wind.
Lilian’s confidence ignited something inside him. His determination surged to a new height.
Myles turned his head toward the others and shouted loudly. "Don’t be afraid! We are stronger than them!"
His voice cut through the rushing wind.
The others glanced toward him.
Victor’s grip tightened around his cleaver. George raised his hammer slightly while grinning fiercely. Daniel’s eyes sharpened with focus. Clara twirled her frost spear once before steadying it. Kade cracked his knuckles as he ran.
Even Ethan and Samantha behind them showed determined expressions.
One by one, their faces hardened with resolve.
The nine of them continued charging forward with inhuman speed.
The towering city wall grew closer and closer. High above them, the defenders on the wall watched the approaching group.
At first they had expected the barrage to stop them. But the nine attackers kept advancing relentlessly, tearing through every obstacle in their path. Their speed and ferocity created a terrifying pressure that spread across the battlements.
Panic began to appear among the defenders. Some soldiers stepped back instinctively and tightened their grip on their weapons as unease spread through their ranks.
Even though the defenders greatly outnumbered them, the presence of the nine attackers felt overwhelmingly oppressive.
At the center of the defensive formation, a heavily armored commander raised his arm and issued orders.
The soldiers in metal armor quickly moved into position along the wall.
Below them, the massive city gate slowly opened.
From the dark passage beyond the gate, rows of armored warriors began marching out.
They carried the same heavy armor and weapons Myles and the others had encountered before on the thirteenth floor.
The ground trembled slightly as the armored unit stepped forward to meet the charging attackers.
Victor’s eyes widened as he saw the armored warriors marching out from the gate.
"They’re the same warriors we saw before, aren’t they?!" he shouted while running.
George glanced at them and nodded slightly. "Yeah... I think so."
Victor frowned deeply. "Why are they here?"
George snorted while gripping his hammer tighter.
"How the fuck should I know? Maybe the floors are connected or something. I don’t know, man."
That possibility made Myles frown. Are the floors really connected?
The thought lingered for a brief moment in his mind. But right now it hardly mattered. He didn’t need to understand the mysteries of this dungeon.
They only needed to defeat their enemies and gain the EXP to become stronger.
So none of them continued the discussion and they just simply kept charging forward.
The distance between them and the armored army rapidly shrank.
Soon the soldiers standing at the very front of the formation began raising their shields and spears. Their heavy shields locked together while long spears angled forward like a forest of steel points.
They were preparing to receive the incoming charge.
Myles tightened his grip on the Fangblade. Dark Ether surged along the blade. He swung his weapon forward. Myles used his Shadow Rend skill again.
A massive crescent-shaped slash of black energy burst out from the Fangblade and tore across the battlefield toward the enemy formation.
At the same moment Victor swung his cleaver and a large arc of greenish energy flew forward beside Myles’ attack.
The two energy slashes tore through the air and slammed directly into the soldiers at the front line.
BOOM!
The impact blasted several armored warriors backward. Their formation broke for a moment as the first line collapsed under the force of the attacks.
But the soldiers behind them immediately stepped forward.
Shields locked again. Spears lowered. Their formation stabilized almost instantly.
By then the distance between the two sides had completely vanished.
A moment later, they clashed.
