The Gamer's POV-Chapter 276: Battle of the Lords: Overwhelming Firepower
Leon’s brow furrowed, and he quickly reached up to touch his chest as he felt that his mana core was completely empty.
"What happened, Uriel?" he asked when he saw the silver haired woman scramble up to him.
She reached out a hand to help him up. "You were shot by a lord with a rifle. I had to use Judgment Time to take her out or we might have all been shot as well."
Leon stared at her in shock as the pieces finally clicked together in his head.
Meanwhile, Cedric sent his ravens that were in the sky towards the cliff where the lords were. At the same time, his mind raced as he watched the giant lord in the distance continue to destroy the stone statues.
The statues could fight back because they were not actually living beings. There were golems that were powered by the name of the goddess Proserpina to do the bidding of the hollow ones.
However, due to the way the giant lord fought, they weren’t even able to get close to him.
...One statue closed the distance with all its spears thrusting forward at his chest, only for the lord to effortlessly sweep his massive flail in a wide horizontal arc. The heavy iron ball instantly pulverized the statue’s torso and sent jagged rock fragments flying across the beach.
Seeing that, Cedric turned to the team and yelled, "Listen. I think it’s best if we attack the lord now that he’s got his hands full with the statues. The big guy is dangerous, yes. But being that large just makes him easier to hit. All those with long range capabilities, get ready to open fire. The deal is to completely overwhelm him. At the same time, those who are fast, evasive and are able to close to distance to get behind the dead zone of his ball, get ready too, just incase things go awry."
The command was still going on when those with long range spells began to expel mana into the air in order to activate their exclusive skills. Many of them began moving to spread out and get closer to the battle between the Nagas and the Hollow Ones, while those whose skills could reach from a distance remained at their spots.
...Cedric raised and extended his arms, then made a framing gesture where his thumbs touched at the bottom and his index fingers touched at the top. As he peered with one eye through that frame, a round, pulsing halo similar to the one he had made in his fight with Levi began to appear in the air, spinning not too far from his palm.
...At the same time, Levi let out a loud roar and reared his monstrous head back. As he did, a swirling vortex of red energy began to gather in his mouth.
...Not too far from them in the air, Celeste had her arms extended to the side as she began chanting in the language of her inner sanctuary. As she did, the demon queen’s chains began to appear around her monstrous frame. However, they looked different this time. They were longer, and more ferocious like live snakes, and the flames on them burned even hotter than before.
...At the same time, Evelyn gripped the handles of her weapons tightly. Suddenly, the blood coating the handles and chains of her Kamas dripped out and flowed to her back, forming massive bat-like wings behind her. When they fully formed, she flapped her wings and flew closer to the raging battle with incredible speed. Upon getting to a safe distance around the bodies of some Nagas who had already fallen to the Hollow Ones, she landed on the ground, kicking up dust as she skidded to a halt. Then, she raised both hands into the air, and almost immediately, the poisonous black blood on the sand bubbled and began to rise. Streams of black blood began to rise out of the Nagas too like slithering serpents, until they hardened in mid-air and transformed into sharp obsidian spears.
...While this was happening, every cadet behind her who had offensive long-range skills began to fire at the giant lord in the distance.
The beam from Levi’s mouth tore through the air and enveloped the man’s head, blinding him and shooting past his shoulders. The dark beam from Cedric’s halo shot forward and slammed into the man’s lower abdomen. Celeste’s demon queen chains streaked through the air and struck different parts of the giant. One heavy chain pierced his heart, and another gutted the side of his throat.
A dark-skinned boy who had his hands locked in a ninja Zai seal suddenly opened his eyes. His pupils shone a brilliant blue, and a few blue magic circles finished forming around the giant lord. From those circles, bolts of lightning emerged, striking the giant at different points one after another.
Another cadet, a girl with red hair tied in a bun, pointed her fingers at the statue. From her back, massive wings of flames had already burst outward, forming a giant flaming figure that looked like an armored spectral warrior. The towering fire avatar was aiming a large bow and arrow at the giant lord. When the girl pointed her finger, the figure released the string. The heavy fire arrow screamed through the air and slammed into the giant lord, where the flames exploded in a massive blinding shockwave upon impact on the lord’s chest.
A few other cadets also unleashed their skills simultaneously, and for a moment, the giant lord was completely swallowed by a blinding wall of smoke and flashing magic lights.
After a few seconds that felt like an eternity, some of the attackers stopped to see the damage their attacks were having on the lord. However, their eyes widened when they saw a very angry lord who seemed to be recovering from the attacks at an extraordinary rate.
The lord had most of his clothes burnt off and was now almost naked, with parts of his body covered in his own blood. He turned his attention to them and yelled in Korean, "You miserable little squirts! How dare you?!"
