Chapter 275: Battle of the Lords: A Look of Pure Disbelief

A few minutes earlier...

Atop the limestone cliff.

——

Using one of his skills that let him zoom and see things from miles away, Lee Lim observed the entire battle raging below the cliffs. And so, he was the first of the lords to see when the vanguards stepped onto the shore. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

He narrowed his eyes, and when he recognized one of the cadets, his right brow raised.

’There you are,’ he thought as a smile slowly spread across his face.

At that moment, So-young, who was watching the battle through binoculars, tilted her head in confusion. "Is it just me or is that Goldilocks guy awfully familiar?"

"Let me see." Min-hyuk snatched the binoculars from her and pressed them tightly to his eyes to get a better look.

Then he took them off and his eyes widened. He immediately put them back and gasped. "That’s him, So-young! That’s the antagonist!"

"What? You sure?" So-young blurted, looking at him.

"Yes! Yes, I’m sure. I remember his face very well."

When Min-hyuk lowered the binoculars, the nerdy man who was leaning against the weathered white stone adjusted his square-framed glasses and spoke.

"So-young, don’t you have an ability that lets you recreate things from Earth? Take him out with a sniper or something."

So-young flashed a quick grin as she cracked her knuckles. "I was already planning on doing just that, Jae-hee."

She shifted back and got down onto her belly, resting her elbows against the rough dirt of the cliff edge, then she raised both of her hands and cupped them together as if she were holding a heavy rifle. Slowly, a sleek black metal body began to materialize in between her palms. She pulled the bolt back to chamber a round with a loud metallic click, then squinted through the scope to find the golden-haired cadet now standing on the beach.

"Do you give me the go-ahead, Hyung?"

Lee Lim slowly turned to her and after a few seconds, he replied with an imperceptible nod, "Yes. Kill him and kill every other person who has stepped foot with him on this beach."

A grin slowly spread across So-young’s face as her fingers wrapped around the cold trigger and slowly began to squeeze.

In the next instant, the heavy crack of the gunshot sounded and Leon’s head snapped back violently. The boy stumbled backward onto the sand as blood sprayed from his temple.

Then Jae-hee, who had his eyes still fixed on So-young, asked, "Is he dead?"

Everyone was also looking at her in anticipation, but instead of answering, she yanked the bolt back to eject the spent brass casing and immediately chambered the next heavy round.

In the next moment, the deafening crack of the rifle sounded again. However, right after the bullet left the barrel, her grin slowly vanished from her face. She pulled her eye away from the scope and cursed, "Who the hell is that walking scrap-metal can opener fellow?"

She clicked her tongue and aimed again only to see a large demonic creature standing in front of the lady she had tried to kill.

With a frown on her forehead, she pulled the bolt back again and the heavy brass casing clattered onto the dirt. Then, she squinted her eye through the glass scope and squeezed the trigger for a third time.

A smile began to spread across her face when she saw the head of the demoness snap back, but when the head came forward again, her grin instantly vanished. "Are you kidding me?"

She violently racked the bolt to chamber a fourth round, then centered the glass scope directly over the demoness’s heart.

"Let’s see you walk away from this one," she muttered, squeezing the heavy trigger once more.

Jae-hee, who was now the one with the binoculars, muttered dryly without lowering them. "If the bullet to the head didn’t kill it, what made you think one to the heart would?"

"Shut the fuck up you nerd!" So-young hissed without taking her eye off the scope as she yanked the bolt back for a fifth time.

At that moment, the androgynous man who was leaning against the weathered white stone suddenly leaned forward with a bewildered expression. He was wearing a blue beach outfit, in which the shirt was open revealing his bare chest, and on his feet were blue and pink Crocs. With his ring covered hand, he shifted up his large black sunglasses and squinted then said, "Uh, guys? Surely I can’t be the only one seeing that lady with the bow and arrow, right?"

He was still speaking when the arrow left the bow into the air. Then once it was high up, it curved and began descending straight toward the cliff.

None of them showed any fear because really, what was an attack from one of these children going to do to them?

Still, Jae-hee, who was a cautious fellow, decided to put up a barrier. He raised a hand and a blue shimmering dome expanded over the lords.

However, to the shock of everyone, the arrow bypassed the barrier without slowing down, then tore directly through So-young’s upper body. The heavy projectile shredded her head and torso, pinning her remains to the dirt. A thick, warm wave of blood splattered across the white stones, painting the faces and clothes of every lord on the ledge.

A look of pure disbelief crossed their faces and even Ji-hoon, who had his eyes glued on the game on his phone, looked up with wide eyes and frozen fingers.

Almost immediately after the arrow brutally killed So-young, the faint shimmering silhouette of a weeping lady appeared beside Leon’s dead body.

Then, all of a sudden, the shattered skull began to knit itself back together and his eyes snapped open revealing his bright gold irises.

He immediately pushed himself upward, then touched his head and blurted, "What the hell just happened?"

He brought his hand down and looked at his blood-stained fingers with utter confusion.

’Did... did I just die?’
