The Gamer's POV-Chapter 277: Battle of the Lords: The Perfect Combo
Seeing that the giant was recovering from the attacks and had turned his attention to the cadets, a new wave of panic surged within the cadets. Many of them began to curse or yell at the absurdity, wondering what they were going to do now, while some froze in terror as the man turned to smash the last of the statues in order to get his hands free.
After that, he immediately turned to the cadets. At that point, those who were close enough could see the charred muscle of his face that had been burnt off rapidly knitting itself back together. Pink, fresh tissue crawled over his exposed cheekbones like writhing worms, sealing the wounds shut in a matter of seconds.
However, his smug recovery was cut short when two of Celeste’s heavy chains smashed directly into his left eye. The giant lord clutched his face as he stumbled back, yelling and cursing in a blind rage.
At the same time, a new wave of daffodils began to appear atop some of the vanguards, after which the flowers shriveled up and withered away, taking the soldiers’ fear along with them. However, the number of daffodils was much fewer this time, and they did not appear on people like Cedric, Leon, or Xavier.
Meanwhile, Cedric kept his eyes on the giant lord the whole time, and his mind was quickly and frantically questioning if the monster had any weaknesses.
’This is crazy.’ he thought, halting his attack to look at a few of the long ranged vanguards who were still firing attacks, or panting for breath.
’It’s unfair to be that large and still have that sort of regeneration. We cannot keep this pace up forever, especially when he begins coming for us with that flail.’
He quickly turned back to look at the man who was barely flinching from the shocks of lightning coming from Jesper, the dark-skinned boy, and Alina, who was also hitting him with lightning attacks.
’I know that most of the attacks are coming from people grades lower than him. But there are so many of us. No matter how strong he is, there has to be a way to bring him down. If we continue raining more attacks than he can heal from, will that be enough to exhaust his mana... stamina, whatever it is he’s using?’
The lord grabbed both of Celeste’s chains to pull them out forcefully, while still staggering from the brunt of the attacks the other cadets were throwing. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Then suddenly, Cedric noticed something that caused his eyes to widen. ’Wait... is it just me or is he getting smaller?’
Indeed, after the round of heavy attacks, the giant lord was healing, but his physical size had shrunk a bit. When the lord stepped out from another explosion of flames, caused by the girl with the spectral warrior, his size shrank again.
At that moment, Cedric hurriedly dipped his hand into his inventory and pulled out his own whisper-script, then quickly yelled into it. "Keep raining attacks on him! He shrinks in size as he recovers, so do not stop! Those who can get close, try to stop him from coming for the long-rangers!"
The moment he said that, Evelyn was the first to move. She launched into the air with dozens of obsidian spears around her, and headed towards the giant lord.
At the same time, Glazier, the Frostfang Saber, had also begun running towards the giant. Even Xavier, Roben, and a few others who specialized in close-quarters combat charged forward.
At this point, more than thirty cadets were firing long-range skills to overwhelm the giant lord, while a few more were currently weaving their way towards him.
The lord seemed to have just had about enough of the constant barrage. He raised his massive flail, and even though the cadets were still a bit far away, it looked like he was about to start swinging blindly out of rage. He swung the heavy iron ball and smashed it down on both a group of Nagas and Hollow Ones who were within his reach. He then began taking heavy steps forward while swinging the flail again.
At that moment, Cedric suddenly appeared running beside Xavier, who was also sprinting on his feet. Cedric spoke with heavy urgency. "You need to take that ball from him, Xavier."
Without a second of hesitation, Xavier quickly nodded, and Cedric vanished in a flurry of black feathers just as quickly as he had appeared. Xavier looked forward to see the massive iron ball approaching after being swung again. He was still some hundred meters away from it, but he knew he had to close the distance. He touched his chest and his speed suddenly tripled, making it look like he blurred out of existence before suddenly appearing beneath the falling ball. At that exact moment, the iron ball smashed down on top of him, sending a massive shockwave of sand exploding into the air.
However, in barely a few seconds after the ball touched the ground, Xavier phased out from under the giant iron ball like a spectral ghost. He turned and tapped his open splayed palm on the side of the metal weapon before turning around to clutch his knees in severe exhaustion.
At the same time, the giant lord yanked the chain, but the iron ball did not move an inch. He yanked it again and again, roaring in confusion before finally letting go of the chain in frustration. Without his weapon, he continued taking heavy steps that looked like he was about to break into a sprint toward the long-rangers.
At that moment, Roben heard Cedric’s voice in the whisper-script hanging on his neck. "Bring him down, Roben."
Roben had gotten to a close enough distance to use his magic, which was still a few hundred meters away. He leaped down from his horse and landed on the ground with both hands pressed into the sand. He expelled his mana into the earth. Suddenly, thick tree roots burst out from the ground underneath the feet of the giant lord. The wooden roots were as large as ancient pythons. They quickly wrapped around the lord’s legs, causing him to stumble and lose his balance.
However, just as the lord tipped over, Glazier, who was sprinting towards him, tapped his paw on the ground. Sharp, jagged ice began to snake out from the point of impact and raced forward. The trail of ice kept increasing in size. Before the falling lord could even hit the sand, he was impaled atop a massive, towering spike of solid ice.
