THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 41: Who Is Doctor Janice?
The following day, Kathleen drove through the huge gates of Hudson Manor and was surprised she wasn’t stopped for a security check, it’s possible Shawn may have given them a heads-up about her coming. They only bowed reverently when she drove by.
When she saw the familiar grounds of the l manor, which held nothing but pain and sad memories for her, her mood was slightly affected but she soon got over it. She reminded herself to focus on what brought her there.
This time, she was the one calling the shots and no one would be able to look down on her again.
The car skidded to a stop at the front of the main door and Kathleen stepped out confidently.
The person who came to receive her was none other than Shawn himself. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He looked as elegant as always in his branded black suit which accentuated his long legs. His perfectly sculptured facial features reminded Kathleen of Elvis and suddenly she couldn’t get enough of this perfect work of art.
On the other hand, the long slender legs clad in brown Louboutin heels, stepping out of the car had caught Shawn’s attention, and he got captivated by the flawless skin.
For a moment Kathleen’s image appeared before his eyes. Her thoughts have been invading his mind quite often recently and he’s been seeing her in everything, but would end up discovering it was an illusion.
Shaking his head to clear his messy thoughts, he looked up to welcome the guest only to step back in shock.
His eyes narrowed in disbelief, when he saw that it was actually Kathleen that was standing before him and not a figment of his imagination.
"Kathleen? What are you doing here?"
No sooner had the question left his mouth than he came to a sudden realization, and the corners of his lips curved up in a slight smile.
"I knew you were only bluffing yesterday at the cafe when you denied what happened between us in the elevator." He stepped closer. "However, now is not the best time for us to see, I have a lot on my hands today. We can only reschedule."
"Sorry to burst your bubbles," Kathleen closed the car door and moved from the car. "But I’m actually here to see Old Mrs Hudson."
Shawn’s brows shot up immediately, he didn’t expect his assumption would be wrong. He also noticed Kathleen’s little action of creating a distance between them just now and his face darkened.
Anyways, he was not in a hurry, he will win her over with time.
"Why do you want to see her? She can’t meet you for the time being. As you would have guessed from the unrestricted access you had to the manor just now, we are expecting a very important guest."
"What other guest can be more important than me?" A mischievous smile played around Kathleen’s gorgeous nude lips, "Could it be a new daughter in-law for your mother?"
"Don’t joke around Kathleen, I’m not in the mood for a fight now."
"Neither am I. Please lead me to Old Mrs Hudson. I don’t have much time to waste." Kathleen was also done bickering with him.
"It seems you didn’t get me." Grabbing Kathleen’s wrist who was about to step into the house, Shawn patiently explained,
"It’s not that I don’t want you to see her, but she’s not in good health and the person we are expecting is a renowned doctor who is versed in traditional Chinese Medicine; she is due to arrive any moment from now to assess her condition."
"We are saying the same thing my dear President Hudson. That’s why I am here."
Shawn’s gaze happened to fall on the medical kit Kathleen was holding at that instant, then he exclaimed, "What! Don’t tell me you are....?" He quickly dispelled that thought with a vigorous head shake and could say yes, he had come up with another explanation.
"Oh, now I understand. You must be one of the people working with Dr Janice and have come here in advance. But how did you get to know her?"
Kathleen was speechless. ’Do I need any special effort to know myself?’ She suddenly felt like playing a game with Shawn.
"Dr Janice and I were classmates. We studied together at SHUTCM and we have a good relationship with each other. You could call it a sisterhood relationship."
Shawn ignored most of Kathleen’s words but one."What’s SHUTCM?" He was sure Kathleen made that up to joke around as he had never heard of such a name."
"Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, duh..."
"Oh, " Shawn scratched his head and looked away to hide his embarrassment.
"How come I’ve never seen her in your company since we’ve been meeting?" He finally asked.
"You and I have only met twice and as you already know she keeps a low profile, so even if you meet her, you will not be able to recognize that she’s the one."
Which is true. She was standing right before him, yet he didn’t know she was Dr Janice.
’Well, two can play,’ thought Shawn as he didn’t believe any of Kathleen’s claims. "So where is she presently? Which hotel is she lodged in?"
"She doesn’t need a hotel seeing we have such a grand relationship. She has been in Baltimore for over a month now. As a matter of fact, we came back together and she lives in my house. We even sleep on the same bed and practically do everything together."
It was Shawn’s turn to be rendered speechless. What has Kathleen encountered all these years that made her like this?
"Kathleen, how come I didn’t know you were this good at playing pranks? Who is Dr Janice?" He stared at Kathleen as if he was about to unravel a deep mystery.
"She is the world’s best Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine doctor, known for easily diagnosing and treating rare and difficult diseases. Not everyone can meet her casually and here you go with your ridiculous story."
He crossed his immaculate hands and chuckled, "Before I could even get her to see Nana, we spent over a year coaxing her to come, not to mention the various prestigious doctors that assisted us in the process."
