Chapter 271: Chapter 271: Irene’s Hostility, Do I Have a Plan?

"Friends?"

When Aiden heard the cow beastwoman say that, he didn’t catch on at first. It took about a second for the name "Brock" to finally click in his mind.

Did something happen to Brock?

Aiden was genuinely worried. He had commissioned Brock to forge his equipment, and once he got his Second Class Scroll, he would need Brock’s help—along with Fiona, the Red Dwarf girl—to travel to the Red Dwarves’ territory.

"What happened?" Aiden asked.

The cow beastwoman glanced around, then took a few steps toward Aiden.

Her massive breasts were so imposing that just by stepping up to his side, Aiden could feel a strange, soft, and incredibly elastic pressure against his arm.

She leaned in close and whispered, "Brock’s shop is being surrounded by plenty of impatient Abyss creatures."

"Surrounded?" Aiden paused, his first thought being that Brock had done something to anger everyone.

But the cow beastwoman’s next words made his pupils shrink instantly.

"Yes, it’s because the person who summoned that giant Skeleton knows Brock. Right now, that person is inside his shop."

"In the Black City, many Abyss creatures want Brock to drive out this girl named Irene," the cow beastwoman said quickly. "Only then will the Black City return to peace."

She let out a heavy sigh, her expression complex. Looking up at the massive white bone walls surrounding the city, she murmured,

"The Abyss is getting messier by the day. The Lord must be in a tough spot right now. If they force Irene out, the Black City will never be the same."

Aiden nodded. It didn’t take him long to realize that the Lord of the Black City was in a very difficult position.

But the more complicated the situation got, the better it was for him.

Without hesitation, Aiden turned to Bella and said, "Let’s go. I need to check on my friend first."

Bella hesitated, her eyes lingering on the cow beastwoman’s huge chest. She didn’t want to leave yet.

"What a pity," Bella sighed slowly. "When you reopen, let me know right away!"

Aiden’s lips twitched. He really wanted to complain: it was absurd that a single Radiant Blade made Pink Desire shop so obsessed. It was completely incomprehensible!

"Thank you for coming. Take care, and please visit us again," the cow beastwoman said, bowing slightly.

Bella froze for a moment.

Seeing this, Aiden said nothing. He simply turned and walked away.

"Hey, wait for me!" Bella hurried after him.

Five or six minutes later, in the narrow alley where Brock’s shop was located...

The small alley was packed with all kinds of the Abyss creatures. They were shouting loudly:

"Come out! The Black City doesn’t welcome troublemakers!"

"That’s right! If it weren’t for her, those giant Skeletons would never have appeared. All the trouble The Black City is facing right now is her fault!"

"Brock, if you keep her here, you’ll be kicked out soon!"

"The space in The Black City is already sealed. No one can leave. The only way to fix this mess is to hand her over to those Skeleton giants!"

"Get out of The Black City!"

"Get out!"

Aiden looked at the angry the Abyss creatures and frowned.

He immediately activated his Legendary Rank Shadow Stealth, flew through the shadows, and entered Brock’s shop.

As soon as he stepped inside, a cold killing intent instantly locked onto him.

"Who are you?" A long-haired red-haired woman in a flowing red dress with four translucent wings behind her glared warily at Aiden from the shadows.

Aiden quickly stepped out of the shadows and called out to the pacing Brock, "It’s me." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Brock stopped instantly and shouted toward the woman in the red dress,

"Wait! Don’t be rash. This is my friend."

The killing intent around Aiden vanished in an instant.

He let out a long breath and thought to himself, "Even with Legendary Rank Shadow Stealth, I’m still too easy to spot against Great Venerable-level the Abyss creatures."

"If I get a Mythic Rank skill enhancement stone next time, I have to upgrade the tier of Shadow Stealth first."

As Aiden’s power grew, the people and the Abyss creatures he met became stronger and stronger in rank.

He took a deep breath, looked at the worried Brock, and said directly, "I heard you’re in trouble?"

Brock instinctively glanced at the woman in the red dress, then sighed heavily and nodded.

"That’s right. You probably saw the the Abyss creatures outside."

"They’re all here for Irene."

Aiden looked at the strange woman. She must be one of those red mosquitoes he had seen before.

Just then, Brock slumped onto the sofa and continued,

"Years ago, Irene’s father saved my life, so I owe him a debt."

"Now that Irene is in danger, I can’t just stand by and watch."

"But I truly have no idea what to do!"

"The bone walls surrounding The Black City seal this space. Unless you have a Mythic Rank teleportation item, no one can leave here."

Brock rubbed his face helplessly, bent over, looking utterly defeated.

"Uncle Brock," Irene’s voice cracked as she spoke slowly. "My father often talked about you. Even when he was dying, he said his biggest regret was not being able to see you more often these past years."

Tears welled up in her eyes. She bit her lip hard, then slowly turned and walked toward the door.

"Uncle Brock, I won’t let you be in a tough spot. I’m the one who brought this trouble. I’ll just leave The Black City, and we’ll be fine,"

She said softly, taking slow steps toward the exit.

"Stop!" Brock suddenly jumped up from the sofa and shouted.

Irene froze, turning around, her breathing shallow with sobs.

Aiden watched this scene with a blank face. In his mind, he thought: "If Irene really wanted to leave, she would have done it by now."

"If I can make a deal with her later, I need to be careful. She’s definitely not that simple."

For now, Aiden decided not to speak. He wanted to keep watching and wait a bit longer.

"Come back," Brock said firmly. "Ignore those people outside. As long as Catherine hasn’t given the order, no one can drive you away."

"If she backs down in front of those giant Skeletons, The Black City might not be destroyed immediately, but it will slowly cease to exist," Brock took a deep breath.

He gritted his teeth and looked toward Wraith Jack’s villa, muttering to himself:

"Now, the only one who can help us is Jack. That guy is very mysterious; maybe he has a solution."

He then turned back to Irene. "Wait here for a moment. I’ll be right back."

Without waiting for a reply, he hurried out.

The moment Brock left, Irene’s sobbing stopped abruptly. She turned and glared at Aiden, her eyes filled with sharp suspicion.

Aiden didn’t mind the look. He walked deeper into the shop, hoping to find Fiona. But strangely, she wasn’t there.

Now, it was just him and Irene. The air in the room suddenly grew very tense.

"Human, how do you know Uncle Brock?" Irene scrutinized Aiden from head to toe before speaking up.

Aiden remained calm. He knew his Orc Disguise Mask wouldn’t fool her; she’d see through it instantly.

He had expected this.

After a brief pause, Aiden replied, "It was a coincidence. I helped Fiona first, and she introduced me to Brock."

"Coincidence? Hmph, true coincidences are as rare as hen’s teeth," Irene scoffed, clearly unconvinced.

She took a slow step toward Aiden and slowly extended her right arm. Immediately, a deafening buzzing sound filled Aiden’s ears.

He felt like all his Strength had vanished, his legs turned to jelly, and he nearly collapsed.

Luckily, a sofa was right there, so he slumped onto it.

"Human, I smelled your scent once before," Irene said, her eyes flashing with a sudden chill.

Aiden paused, taken aback by this.

He remembered the first time he saw Irene; he had lingered there for a while. That must have been when she caught his scent.

Even though Bella had been there back then, the smell she left behind wouldn’t disappear that quickly.

In the next moment, Irene’s tone turned ice-cold as she slowly asked,

"Are you also one of Belith’s minions? Has that guy started recruiting humans to do his dirty work?"

Belith?

Aiden frowned. He had never heard of that name before, but unless he was mistaken, Belith was likely the Abyss creature pulling the strings behind those giant Skeletons.

"I don’t know any Belith. You’re mistaken," Aiden explained.

Irene sneered, her expression full of disbelief.

"You’d better disappear from my sight before things get ugly. You should know exactly what would happen."

Just then, Brock suddenly returned.

The coldness and killing intent on Irene’s face vanished instantly. Her eyes filled with panic and anxiety, and she kept sniffing through her sobs.

"What did you find, Uncle Brock? Do you have a way out?" Irene asked.

Brock sighed and shook his head sadly. "No. Jack... he won’t see me."

"I’m sorry, Irene. I... I might not be able to get you out of here safely."

"But don’t worry. I’ll fight alongside you."

Irene’s expression stiffened. She asked, still unwilling to give up, "Is there really no other way?"

Aiden leaned back against the sofa and watched Irene calmly.

"What if I said I have a way?"
