Chapter 287: All Inclusive Care.

As if on cue the door was flung open and Eleanor galloped in leaving no time for Kathleen to hide the blush that was still etched on her face.

"Mom, why are you so happy?" Eleanor asked, darting her eyes from her father to her mother.

"What makes you think I am happy, Eleanor?" Kathleen responded as she tried to return her expression to normal.

Luckily she had been able to bring some semblance of order to her dressing while she was arguing with Shawn, if not, she didn’t know how she would have explained to Eleanor the state of her disarrayed clothes.

"Your face mummy, it is so red, and uncle Jason said that it is caused by being a bit too happy," she explained.

Kathleen: "..."

Shawn was equally speechless, he didn’t expect that the little girl would still hold on to the nonsense her uncle had told her a few weeks back. ’I have to be careful what I say around her,’ Shawn cautioned himself.

"Mummy was indeed happy just now because daddy has been very obedient," Shawn lied shamelessly and the ignorant Eleanor swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

"Really? Isn’t daddy awesome?"

Kathleen shot Shawn a bitter look. "Really!" her gaze seemed to be saying.

"But what did you do, daddy?" Eleanor asked all of a sudden, throwing Shawn, who was already celebrating his victory off balance.

"Go on, tell him how daddy has been obedient," Kathleen smirked evilly.

"I think my little princess is running late for school. Didn’t you come around to see if daddy has taken his drugs?" Shawn asked, changing the subject and he actually succeeded as Eleanor nodded.

"Well, I’ve taken my drugs, you can hurry off to school now. Don’t keep your brother and the driver waiting."

"I’m not keeping them waiting. Brother is still eating," Eleanor corrected. "I rushed to eat my food so I can come see you before going to school," she added.

"I’m done eating," Elvis’s voice sounded from the door. "Good morning daddy," he greeted, stepping into the room.

"Good morning, Champ," Shawn responded with a smile. "I can see you are ready for school."

"Yes dad, how are you?"

"I’m doing great, thanks to your mummy’s intensive and all inclusive care," Shawn chimed, giving Kathleen a suggestive smile.

"Mummy is the best. That’s how she cares for us whenever we are sick," Eleanor praised, understandably, missing Shawn’s actual insinuation.

"Yeah, hurry along so that you don’t go late to school."

"Ok dad," the children chorused as they moved closer to their father who placed a kiss on each of their foreheads.

Kathleen equally kissed both of their cheeks before they left.

As her usual custom was since Shawn started living with them, Eleanor, however, did not forget to admonish their mother to take care of their father while she was away.

"She will," Shawn answered, a wide grin spreading over his face.

"I love those children."

Kathleen smirked. "Why won’t you love them, when all they do is stand on your side all day."

"And I also love my stay here," he added and regretted it immediately.

"That reminds me," Kathleen said. "I think your time here will be up next week."

"Why that early?"

"As your doctor I am discharging you. I have ascertained that you are strong enough to go back after the stunt you just pulled a few minutes ago. Besides, we had an agreement."

"Damn the agreement," Shawn cursed. Why did he even agree to leave after the children’s birthday? But that was the condition Kathleen gave for her to not leave the house to her friend, Lauren’s place for the period he would be staying at Fairview Villa.

Then he had thought that two weeks was a long time but it seemed it wasn’t, after all- it was actually too short.

He was already getting used to the life they were living now. Being with Kathleen everyday even though it was just twice in a day, but he still got to see her daily and the sweetest was when the children were around.

How will he ever cope when he finally leaves and returns back to his lonely life?

’I think I have to...’

"Hey, Mr President," Kathleen’s voice cut through his thoughts.

"Huh?"

Kathleen shook her head pitifully. "I said I’m off to work."

"Oh," he watched sadly as Kathleen brought out a mirror from her bag to check her appearance again.

"Hey, ain’t you forgetting something?" He shouted when Kathleen started moving towards the door.

Kathleen’s eyes darted around the room, finding nothing that seemed to belong to her, she asked, "What’s that?"

Pointing to his lips, Shawn said, "my goodbye kiss, at least the children were smart enough to remember that."

"Well I choose to be dumb today. Bye," she sneered and closed the door behind her.

A few seconds later, the door opened slightly and Shawn’s sad face lit up when he saw her voluminous blonde hair pop out.

"I won’t be coming home tonight. I have a special surgery that will last the entire night. Bye again."

"What?!"

And just like that Kathleen’s head disappeared from the doorway and the sound of the door closing back reminded Shawn of how Kathleen’s heart was still closed against him.

For the remaining part of the day, Shawn wore a solemn expression and even when Johnson came around with some work, he was not in the mood for any work.

Johnson was helpless and didn’t know what else to do to pull his boss out of his foul mood which he thought was gone forever.

Since he woke up in the hospital, his mood had greatly improved and it even got better when he started living at Fairview Villa.

He wondered what could have happened for such an unwelcome change, somehow, he felt it had something to do with his wife. She is the only person that can make a grown up man like his boss undergo mood swings in the shortest possible time.

Well, as an assistant, part of his job was to ensure his boss was in the right frame of mind to make money and he wasn’t about to fail in that responsibility.

After all, his boss’s happiness was directly proportional to his own peace of mind, as the assistant. No one wants an angry boss breathing down their neck every second of the day.

"Ms Beazell was seen with the Mayor two days ago, attending a particular function as his plus one," he reported.

At that piece of news, Shawn’s melancholic expression did a flip. "That’s good. It means everything is going according to plan." He said enthusiastically.

Although glad that his boss was finally pulled out of his depressed state, Johnson still had his concerns though.

"But what will Madam say if she discovers that nothing was yet to be done to apprehend Linda for what she did to her?"

"Don’t worry about that. President Jason has assured us to handle that aspect. She’ll be happy with the final outcome. But for now, don’t let it slip especially to Linda. My only concern is the Mayor."

"What about the Mayor?" Johnson asked.

"If he will not be blinded by sex and back out at the last minute."

"He appears to be reliable enough," Johnson assured. "Moreover, I feel he just wants to toy with Linda a bit before flinging her aside, afterall, who would want to settle down with such a big c**t," he said with disgust.

"Johnson!" Shawn was taken aback. He had never heard Johnson describe someone with such a derogatory term and even directly in his presence.

It shows how much he loathed Linda. Who wouldn’t anyway. He was even surprised that the Mayor had such a weird taste.

"I’m sorry, boss. It was a slip of the tongue."

"I can see how sorry you are," Shawn said sarcastically, as he stared at Johnson, who looked miles apart from regretting what he had just said.

"So what’s been happening?"

"I received a report that Mrs Hudson has been frequenting Wyatt Corps for the past few days insisting on seeing the president but had never been granted access. On another occasion, she was seen loitering around the villa."

"Well, it’s high time she paid for all her atrocities. Pay no attention to her and under no circumstances must she find out about Elvis and Eleanor," Shawn warned.

He had been briefed by Kathleen on how his mother came to Fairview, when he was still in the hospital to ask for the hand of Director Wyatt’s daughter in marriage and what transpired afterwards.

"Yes, boss."

"How have you been able to deal with her calls?"

"I eventually told her that you were out of town for business but she clearly did not believe me, however, she didn’t make things difficult for me."

"Good. Apart from you, nobody else knows I’m here, so keep it that way."

"Right boss. So can we discuss the affairs of Hudson Corporations now?"

"I knew all along that all these long winded reports were headed that way, so go on."

Johnson smirked inwardly. ’How else will I get paid if I don’t convince you to make more money,’ he thought as he brought out the documents from his briefcase.
