THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 105: Find A Random Guy
"Hmmph," Kathleen snorted, "He would have guessed you were testing him to see if he was ambitious like every other person who had approached you since they knew you had such a capable daughter,"
Director Robin shook his head at his daughter who was stubbornly refusing to face the truth.
"You think so? May I remind you that President Hudson is an already made man and doesn’t need to curry favour from anyone?"
"Why else would he give you that perfunctory answer? Of course even if he wants your daughter, he won’t directly say so. He would come under the guise of business."
"You’ve known him before now, do you really think he is capable of such?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Director Wyatt’s eyes locked with Kathleen’s purple eyes which held such deep meaning that he couldn’t decipher.
"People do change, dad. I never thought in the past that he would turn his back on me one day, but he did in the end." Kathleen argued.
Director Wyatt shook his legs from side to side under the table as he studied his daughter in silence, an indescribable smile plastered on his face.
"You know what else he said when I told him I actually wanted to match him up with my daughter?"
Kathleen did not say anything but waited for her father to continue since she knew he wasn’t expecting her to give a reply.
"He told me he has been married for a long time now, and we both know who he was referring to." Director Wyat said.
Seeing the conflicting emotions flash across his daughter’s face, Director Wyatt could only sympathize with her.
"My daughter, I can only guide you in life, but the choices you make are basically your own decisions."
"I’ve asked him to draw up a contract for the project in the West District."
He switched so suddenly that Kathleen did not have time to ponder on what he had said earlier.
Kathleen was taken aback when it dawned on her what her father was talking about.
"Why do you suddenly want to cooperate with him?"
Director Wyatt waved his hand in dismissal as if what she was asking about was not necessary.
"I want to have first hand information on the character of the father of my grandchildren. Or do you have a problem with that?"
Kathleen, "..."
"I can let this one slide for once Dad. But since I’m now the president, I think I have to be consulted before any major decisions are taken in the future." Her tone conveyed her dissatisfaction and she sat back with a pout refusing to continue with her cake.
"That’s not a problem with me, Madam President," taunted her father. "As long as you are willing to work with him yourself, I will gladly step aside, afterall I don’t like this interfacing thing. I’d rather enjoy and spend more time with my wife than saddle myself again with company matters."
"I refuse to fall into your trap dad. Go ahead with the contract. Moreover I have so much on my plate now."
"You can’t run away from him forever though." Her father said, his mouth quivering with a knowing smile.
"Dad," Kathleen started to complain but was cut short by her father.
"Finish up, let’s leave." He said nonchalantly, "I still have to go and meet my wife."
Director Wyatt pretended not to see Kathleen’s aggrieved face and directly took out his phone to look at his wife’s photos.
Kathleen was rendered speechless. "Must you rub your love in my face so blatantly?"
"Do you have any plans to retaliate?" Her father retorted, a challenging look in his eyes.
"Don’t worry I’ll find a random guy and flaunt him before you soon," Kathleen threw back, with an equally stubborn look on her face.
A rumbling sound could be heard as her father tried to suppress his laughter. "I will be waiting for that day," he eventually laughed out.
Soon Kathleen joined in the laughter, grabbed her bag from the chair and stood up.
"Let’s go home together. I’m no longer in the mood to do anything else for the rest of the day."
"Do you really want to be a third wheel?" her father teased.
"Whatever," Kathleen muttered and hooked an arm through her father’s as they exited the café.
****************
After Linda watched the police take her mother away, strangely enough, nobody came to comfort or sympathize with her as she lay helplessly on the ground in front of the café.
She had no choice but to force herself to be strong, then she contacted her father as soon as she was able to gather her wits.
Mr Beazell who was in an important meeting with a client had to end the meeting abruptly when he received the distress call from his daughter and rushed to the police station.
On his way he put a call through to his lawyer who wasted no time in setting off.
They arrived almost at the same time at the police station.
Seeing her father step out of the car, Linda rushed towards him and broke down in tears as he caught her in a tight embrace.
With his eyes he signaled to the lawyer to go ahead and find out the situation of things inside.
Deep sobs wrecked through Linda’s body and for a moment Mr Beazell had to temporarily put aside his concern for his wife and console his distraught daughter.
"Everything will be all right dear. Stop crying and tell me what happened to your mother."
"Mom is innocent, she didn’t do it."
"Calm down dear, we will sort out everything and your mom will go home with us. Or don’t you trust your father again?"
Taking the handkerchief from his pocket Mr Beazell wiped the tears from his daughter’s face as he coaxed her.
Not long after Linda had calmed down, the lawyer who had left them to make inquiries in the police station returned.
"What did you gather?" Mr Beazel asked as he saw him returning.
