Cultivation Online-Chapter 2382: Queen Wraith of Demise
"Queen Wraith of Demise? What’s so special about it? Isn’t it just a slightly stronger Nether Wraith?" Yuan asked.
"Of course not! The Queen Wraith of Demise is immortal! Like, true immortality! Unlike ordinary Nether Wraiths, it will keep returning no matter how many times you kill it!" Lev explained.
"True immortality, huh? We’ll see about that..." Yuan mumbled, doubting it truly couldn’t be killed.
A few moments later, the Queen Wraith of Demise emerged from the right side of the mountain, its enormous figure slowly coming into view as it loomed over them like a giant.
"Holy shit..." Lev muttered with a dumbfounded look, clearly not expecting the Queen Wraith of Demise to be so massive.
Even Yuan was a bit surprised by its sheer size. As for its appearance, it resembled the Nether Wraiths, but rather than crimson, it was a deep violet.
"True God, huh." Supreme Ruler Dena calmly gazed at the massive wraith.
The Queen Wraith of Demise did not attack immediately after appearing. Instead, it merely watched them from above, like a god staring down at insignificant mortals.
Soon, even more wraiths appeared, and within moments, thousands of Nether Wraiths surrounded the Queen Wraith of Demise like an army of soldiers protecting their queen.
"Yuan... do you think you can handle this...?" Lev asked him in a trembling voice.
"..."
Yuan remained silent, which only further worried him.
"The Nether Wraiths seem to be communicating with the queen," Yuan suddenly remarked.
Although they had no mouths and could only produce ghostly noises, he could tell they were conveying something to the Queen Wraith of Demise.
"They’re probably seeking the queen’s help because you killed so many of them," Supreme Ruler Dena said.
"Well, what else was I supposed to do when they attacked us first?" Yuan shook his head.
"Thirty-five..."
A voice suddenly spoke to Yuan, but it was transmitted directly into his mind through voice transmission.
Yuan immediately realized who this unfamiliar voice belonged to and turned to stare at the Queen Wraith of Demise.
"That is the number of my children that you have killed," the Queen Wraith of Demise continued in a grim voice.
"Do you deny your crimes?"
Yuan calmly responded to it, "I won’t deny it since it’s true. However, they attacked us first."
"Nay!"
The Queen Wraith of Demise loudly declared. "According to the witnesses, you were the ones who attacked first! You even declared war by damaging our territory!"
"..."
Yuan was rendered speechless by this new revelation and turned to look at Supreme Ruler Dena, who was casually hovering behind him with a nonchalant expression, utterly oblivious to the trouble she had caused them.
"What is it?" Supreme Ruler Dena asked after noticing his gaze.
"This is all your fault," Yuan said with a sigh.
"Then do you want me to handle it?" She took Yuan’s words at face value and made no attempt to refute them.
"Do you really think you can handle that in your current state?" Yuan asked while pointing at the Queen Wraith of Demise.
Supreme Ruler Dena shifted her gaze to it and fell silent for a moment before shaking her head, "Probably not."
"Then let me handle it."
Yuan turned back to the Queen Wraith of Demise and spoke, "I admit that we were at fault for damaging your territory, but nothing good will come from dwelling on what has already happened. Let us set aside our grievances and avoid escalating this any further."
"You dare to tell me to forget about my children’s death?!" The Queen Wraith of Demise shouted as her aura surged, seemingly prepared to attack.
"Either that or you’ll have to experience even more losses." Yuan suddenly unleashed some of his Soul Strength to show the Queen Wraith of Demise that he had the capability to kill many of them with ease.
"Of course, I am also willing to compensate for your losses."
"..."
The Queen Wraith of Demise fell silent after sensing Yuan’s overwhelming Soul Strength.
She could tell just from his Soul Strength that he wasn’t going all out and that even if the army of thousands of Nether Wraiths around her were to attack him simultaneously, he would likely be able to kill them all just by scattering his Soul Strength.
The Queen Wraith of Demise was enraged by the deaths of her children and was, by nature, a vengeful being. However, she was neither foolish nor reckless, and she realized that attacking the man before her could cost her countless more of her children.
After several minutes of silence, the Queen Wraith of Demise spoke again, "I am willing to forgive you for killing my children if you do something for me."
"I am listening."
"I will tell you more about it later. Wait here for my return."
Without any explanation, the Queen Wraith of Demise turned around and disappeared. However, her army of Nether Wraiths remained to keep watch, ensuring they wouldn’t run away.
"What’s happening?" Lev asked, as he wasn’t able to listen to their conversation. "Why did the Queen Wraith of Demise suddenly leave without doing anything?"
He had even prepared himself for a massive fight when the Queen Wraith of Demise released her aura.
Yuan proceeded to explain the whole situation to them.
"What?! They attacked us because we—she destroyed their territory?!" Lev exclaimed after learning of this.
"Can we even believe her words? What if she’s just making shit up?" he then asked.
Yuan shrugged, "That could be the case, but it doesn’t change the fact that I killed her children. If we can avoid an all-out war with these beings, I don’t mind helping them out... as long as it’s not something unreasonable."
"What kind of help?" Supreme Ruler Dena asked.
"I don’t know yet, but we should find out soon enough."
However, even after waiting around for several days, the Queen Wraith of Demise did not return.
"Hey, what happened to your queen?" Yuan tried to communicate with the Nether Wraiths, but it was a pointless effort, as none of them were able to speak like their queen.
